Hi Guy's Just about to mount a PVL ignition stator to my Cub crankcases. Now I have thought of several ways to mount the stator including a plate between the chaincase joints etc. But have come back to the conventional pole or stud (BSA) set up. Now do you think, it is better to mount the crankcase on a rotary table, on a milling machine, and scribe a 81mm circle (pitch Cirle diameter), then spot machine three pads, and then machine and tap three alloy or steel poles, then drill and thread the crankcases to exept these poles, then machine them level to exept the PVL stator plate. Or should you make up three poles and drill and countersink the crankcase from inside an…

hoping for some input here guys, building a paul Jackson framed cub and struggling with the chain tensioner position, was hoping to get it tucked up behind the peg mount on the swing arm but the chain had clearance issues with the spring when the swingarm moved, I have tried a gasgas/universal/beta tensioners and all have issues mounting in this area, so I have now mounted one on the back of the peg mount, clearance with the chain is the best I have had it and as the swingarm moves the tensioner keeps tension. I like this position but are there any issues with doing it this way? I thought that because is it still mounted close to the pivot point of the swingarm the …

Hi all. I intend to build a pre 65 trials bike using a 1959 Francis Barnett frame I have the original wheels and was going to use the original hubs but they are iron (heavy) and a bit bit clapped generally. Does anyone know where I can some small diameter alloy full width hubs? I saw some on a Cotton ( I think ) on this forum and they were lovely. I have been Googling for hours now and just keep going round in circles with no result. Any help would be appreciated.

Happy Bank Holiday to all readers. I am in a good mood today, even after yesterday's trial, but please do not start me on that. Looking for a set of rear shocks for the BSA and I remember hearing that Mr Pickering supplies some modded Betors, does anyone have any information on them what makes the mod work and where I can get a pair?

My 199 Cub is fitted with the R cam, it always has had this cam so I have no comparison but at a trial today I rode a 199cc Cub with similar engine set up to my bike but with the std Cub camshaft. Now I realise that bike set up is subjective and it could have been the 'new broom' thing but the std cam seemed to provide as much power at the bottom end but possibly a more controllable and steadier pick up. The R cam really makes the motor go once off tick over but having ridden the alternative set up I now am thinking might this be the way to go? In most trials you simply do not require loads of power, a smooth engine seems better so what cam is most widely used in the li…

I have a 250 DMW Trials originally owned and registered by Comerfords in the Portsmouth Rd Thames Ditton. I believe it was their entry into the Scottish in 1962 or possibly 1963. I have an address for the 2nd owner in Scotland from memory it is in Aberdeen. I bought the bike from another Southend and District MC Club member in the Sixties and now want to get it back into original condition and also would like to trace any information of its part in the SSDT. especially any photographs of the bike at the event. I am a bit out of the way here out in Germany so if there is anyone that can either suggest or give information it would be well received. Many thanks George H…

Hello I am building a BSA Bantam D1 plunger '53 with a friend into a trials project ready for the 2012 Bath Classic Motorcycle Club calender and need a bit of help and advise, can anyone help me with the questions below? 1) it runs 300 x 19 road tyres, does anyone know what size trials tyres would fit and what would work best, the original mudguards have been changed to trials ones but the standard forks are still in place? 2) the standard top yoke is a pressed tin affair, can a cast one from a later model fit, was looking on eBay at this one 110787478534 (its listed as a D1 version) or 260916421183 (later model) but seems to be cast, will it fit, I would like to cho…
