  4. Hi- New member here. I'm an enduro rider, but looking to dabble a bit in trials. My enduro riding buddy just got a newer Beta 300 Evo, and I'd like to pick up a cheap trials bike so we can go do some trials play riding together. Thus, I am considering buying a 1986 Honda TLR200 that won't start for $1000. It has 1200 miles on it, and is in good condition cosmetically. My biggest concern is that I'll need an electrical part that is discontinued to get the bike to run. This could be the pulse generator, CDI, regulator, or what have you. The seller claims that the bike ran last year, but that he hasn't tried to start it since then. He seems trustwort…

Hi everyone - having tidied up the TLR a bit (gratuitous opportunity for another photo:), I was wondering what people's opinions are on replacement footpegs? I keep seeing the alloy ones on ebay from G.R.Craft in Japan - has anyone got these and what do they think? I like the fact (they say) that they don't interfere with the kickstart lever, unlike my currently fitted Pivot Pegz which need to be folded up each time... Any advice would be appreciated - but basically what I'm looking for is a wider alloy peg, that doesn't foul the kickstart, and it appears there is only that one option? Jx

I've just bought a TLR200 (1986), which has had the original decompressor cable assembly removed - I'm presuming people do this as they consider it not really necessary? Looking at the workshop manual/parts fiche, it seems the decompressor is originally attuated automatically by a short cable from an arm behind the kick-start lever? Although I have seen examples who have [presumably replaced] this system with a manual lever on the handlebars... I would like to install a manual decompressor on my bike - I intend to use a CRF450 clutch perch which has a second small lever [for the hot start on that bike] to attuate the decompressor cable, and which is the same set-up I ha…

I know its not got an engine (well i dont think it has anyway) but the downhill Honda bikes at the Fort this weekend were awsome examples of engineering.- the alloy frames were works of art and the 'gearbox' at the front was typical Honda. - when they do something they do it right.

HIya.. Found a Honda here (minus fuel tank and seat unit) on the frame badge it says TLM 260RF Cant find any info on the internet of this model. Can any of you tell me anything about it?? 12. OK I am very frustrated at this point. decided to use my 1986 Reflex as a commuter bike for work (11 miles). Yes it is about as comfortable as a tack on a 2x4 set edgewise but 65 mpg is cool. Problem is at high revs any gear under load and also no load, it spits, sputters and does kind of a backfire thing into carb. Really annoying at 50mph and in the dark when it stalls. I have thought fuel issue, carb is CLEAN!!! (many times) tried various settings for air screw. Float adjusted so there should be enough fuel in there to drown an elephant, but not coming out the overflow pipe. Tank filter is clean and new inline filter. Jets are stock 38 - 92 but the main jet ha…

I am sure this has been asked before but there are many problems with the TLR clutch such as rapid wear, clutch slip and jerky operation. What experience is there of modifications or alternative parts to improve it? Are there any alternative plates and springs that work well? In particular what oils have worked well? I already use the Honda CG125 anti-jerk kit.

  16. I have recently acquired a '75 TL125. I've been perusing the net to see what people had done to them. I ran across this one that is somewhere in Britain. I believe it is an "S" model. Any information on the build of this bike would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've started this post because I'd like some information on a replacement Needle Set and confirmation of what jets are best. However I'm providing a preamble in case it's of interest to others. My TLR200 is circa 1983/1984 ? (registered in UK in 2009 on an "A" plate and shows first registration as 1/1/1984) - Frame number 1004•••. The red/white/blue tank model - its not NOT a Reflex The carburetor is a Keihin PW22. The ID on the flange is 660C |B|VI= (660C on RHS of Flange, |B|VI= are the symbols on the LHS; the B is actually in a "box" but "| |" is the best I can do on a keyboard). For parts ordering the important parts of the ID are "660C B"; only the first symbol …

  19. What mod is this on the poor lil tl125 I just picked up???

  20. Started by mick annick,

Having been unable to find a slimline sherpa to restore I've decided to freshen up the Honda, not much choise really as the spokes and rims are decidely iffy, and whilst the wheels are out why stop there... Anyway, your views on the best approach would be welcome; for instance I'm thinking of a one piece seat/tank unit and preserving the original, and maybe nickel plating the frame. Is this a no-no, are there any sensible mods I should consider whilst it's in bits? Mick Annick
