Trials Transport

Does anyone know anything about renault masters and vauxhall movanos? Good or bad , thinking of getting one and dont know much about them,Looking at a 51 reg , what engine sizes do they do? what power do they put out? are they the same with different badges? what their cruising speed / top speed Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance wayne

Decided at last to change the van. The old tranny (190 high top) is now to big for our needs. Looking to get a smaller van to carry two bikes and have been recommended either the Scudo, Expert or dispatch. Which van is the best and what size engine should I go for. Stuart

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on sideways bike trailers? Like this: I haven't really got space to store a conventional bike trailer, so I'm wondering if building something similar for the trials bike is a silly idea or not?

I appreciate this question has been answered before but with new products/vehicles around thought it may be worth asking again.... I'm a newbie starting up, just sold my road bike that was my 24/7 transport so.... Little car and trailer or van ? Is there any advantages or just personal choice? Cheers Jody

Thinking of building a bit of a custom trailer with mini lite alloys and checker plate etc... Im just not too keen on having to compress the forks and suspension when strapping it down, anyone got any alternatives? Also any other things you think might be good to add? Thanks.

Hi After hearing about so many bikes being pinched I thought it was time to ditch the bike trailer and hide my pride and joy in the back of a van. I've been thinking about getting a Ford Transit Custom SWB with a crew cab which results in a smaller space to put the trials bike (If it will fit) Has anyone got one of these vans for taking the bike in? If I could fold down the rear seats it would just be a case of removing the rear bulkhead but the seats are fixed. The VW Transporter Kombi can do just that but they are silly money. Cheers Alan

Hi, Noob question. Do you clean your bikes after riding (especially now when there is a lot of mud) and before puting in into the car? If so, do you carry some water and battery powered jet-wash? I mean this is probably less of an issue for van owners. But if you use a car (like Berlingo) then it ma get very messy very quickly. Just thought that it may be easier to clean the bike pre-trasport rathen than clean the car later on.

Hello, Looking at getting back on the bike after about 2 years!! In the meantime, I've had the Vivaro converted to a campervan so no room inside any longer!! Considering options for either a bike rack (used to use a Kliponoff years ago!!) or maybe a light, single trailer...... Any recommendations on what's out there nowadays? ta

I am thinking about getting some insurance for my trails bike as a few have been pinched around here recently. I dont ever ride the bike on the road and its delared sorn. A few options: Get it insured under my house insurance..but not sure if this would cover me if a gang kicked me off it whilst out??? Investigate how much it would cost with an insurance company. The problem I have is is it worth it? and what comapanies should i try for a quote? The bike is probably worth 2 grand

Hi all, I recently attended a british national acu youth trial and noticed quite a few of the lads there were in vans that had been kitted out with an area for the bikes in the back and a storage area above, then an extra set of seats behind the drivers seat. I cant find anything on the internet and i wondered if anyone would be able to post a picture of their van to give me an idea as im really looking into doing one of my own. Also could anyone give me some ideas of what van would be best to start off with. thanks.

Hi all, New to the forum, presently ordered a 24R and will be collecting in mid Nov in the UK. My main query is transporting the bike. I drive a X-Trail that has a flange towbar, I wanted to get a Dave Cooper rack but they do not deliver to Ireland, hard to get anything like this over here. So do any of you boys/girls use something like a normal bicycle rack for your OSET's? Within the guidance of weight capacity etc. Thanks if anyone has any info, insights. Chop

Ive got a Mercedes Sprinter at the moment but i'm thinking about getting a smaller van for better mpg. cheaper insurance, cheaper road tax plus smaller size. However must be able to get 2 bikes in and two people. Prefer if it has sliding doors on the side too for ease of access. Problem is i only have a budget of about £1500. Been looking on auto trader and i quite like to look of the Peugeot Expert and the Citroen Dispatch but was wondering if anybody has any experience good or bad of them or could suggest another small van that would suit my needs and budget. I drive a fiat punto, and have been advised that is will be dangerous driving with a 70kg+ bike on the back plus the weight of the rack. So i am going to have to buy a trailer, but i have knowhere to keep one, well, i have a space about 2M x 1M. So, i need a trailer that will fit in there, but still carry my sherco 290 safely. Anyone got any ideas, other than buy a bigger car! Ryan
