Trials Transport

Has any of you lot got one of those trailers where the bike sits on its sump over the axle,and the front wheel sits ina slot on the a frame?My missus is giving me grief for parking my trailer out side the house,i think if i modify it,it will be smaller and lighter and will fit in me garage.If someone could post a pic, that would be great. Thanks

I bought a carrier not so long ago from a reputable dealer (name removed for fairness, but a major name). The carrier came zinc plated and is now covered in surface rust. Although the carrier is not going to break is does look particulary crap on the back of my car. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am tempted to take it off and paint it but shouldn't the zinc plating prevent this......anyway im sure hamerright wont take to the zinc straight off.

Can you get a Trials bike (4RT) in the back diagonally with tailgate up or is it tailgate down? Can you get 2 bikes in with tailgate down Is loading easy enough on the higher bed, compared to an average barn door van ? Just thinking about a pickup over the Van Any other downsides ? (except the obvious lack of security & bike on view etc)

I have considered buying a van for sometime now but when you do the maths it doesn’t really add up. As I needed to collect a bike I elected to hire a van from an ‘enterprising’ company. There are companies offering small vans for £23 a day but by the time you add on all the extras it starts to become expensive, plus they are quite away from my location. Anyway I hired a van locally for £31 accident waiver fee was £32 and fuel used was £27. So thats a true cost of £63 the fuel would be used no matter what method of transport chosen. Someone told me today that all trailers should have a chassis plate or the police can seize it. I know all new trailers need a SVA cert, but I built mine a few years ago (before the new law) Do I need to fit a chassis /vin plate?

I saw one on top gear and it looked pretty cool and now I've seen one on the road in the UK. Look ideal for taking the bike to trials.

Mate of mine has a (supposedly lightweight) Dave cooper trailer that he needs to carry around the back of his house each time he comes back from a ride. He is about the kill himself doing this as he has to put the trailer on its side and carry it up three steps. Does anyone know of an easy way or mod to make carrying it a bit easier???? A dolly perhaps? Thanks

Hey everyone quick question, i have been strapping my bike into van by putting front wheel up against bulkhead then running 2 ratchet strap from handlebars to anchor points left and right on bulkhead. Seemed pretty easy and held bike solid. Mate of mine said this is a no go as will damage front forks (presume because they under compression while transporting) But couple of other guys at club said its fine. Who is right ? Hopefully its fine as its def easiest way I've found to hold bike securely but if not how else does anyone strap bikes up? Thanks Matt

Can’t see how I’m going to fit a Dave cooper rack on my Range Rover sport, they only have a tow ball not a Flat back plate to bolt on to? cheers Rich

Just bought a 2006 1.6 HDI partner MPV. First car i've had with well under 100,000 on the clock. Well it's brill. You can here yourself think whilst driving it and as long as you keep it around 70-75 MPH it returns about 46 MPG. Plenty of room for the bike and stuff and family members as well. that garage door arrangement at the back makes loading a doddle. £300 insurance,£140 a year road tax,tyre's you can afford and relatively cheap service equipment. After driving my 1998 1.2 petrol Clio with 194,000 miles on the clock,pulling bike on a trailer, it's great!

Hows this for rotten luck picked up my brand new renault trafic sport van yesterday and been driving her for around 20 mins or so done around 15 miles and whilst sat at some traffic lights a young lady ran into the back of it she said her brakes didnt work gutted is not the word for it I would post a photo but not worked it out

I'm going to check out a 2002 Beta. It'll be my 1st trials bike if I decide to buy. However, right now, my only means of transporting the Beta is in the back of a Subaru - either my Outback or Forester. Will the Beta fit??? Anyone tried this?

Just got myself a vivaro and intend on stripping out the back and starting from scratch. Has anyone got any pics or ideas for a good layout? Ie. good places to build hidden storage for oils and lubes and riding kit etc. has anyone ever raised the ply off the floor and built a draw underneath?? Any ideas or previous experience would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys Down here in Austraya we have utes and this is what I came up with to fit three bikes and enough gear for a long weekend away (and be able to close the tailgate. I started with a basic design and when it worked added the wing.

so say you did want/need to transport your trials bike in a car .. assuming you removed the front wheel ...any advice on how to protect the forks also how to stop the bike falling over ? or is lying the bike on its side on a tarp an option ? Cheers

I'm considering buying an Ifor Williams BV84 (8' x 4' x 5' high) box trailer for transporting trials bikes. Has anybody got experience of using this size trailer? Is it possible to fit three full size trials bikes in? Cheers Scott
