USA Trials

Apparantly even with the addition of monies from special events and the regular fundraisers there was a Shortfall in sending the Team to the IOM, which for now has to be taken up by the RIDERS! I for one cant imagine that as many clubs and supporters that are in the USA that the riders would have to foot the bill to represent us in the TDN (which they did admirably). Kip Webb is handling the 2008 event but I feel that the trials rider community should come to the Riders aid and help to be able to refund the money they had to put up to ride!!

i'm in the market for a new vehicle. i'm wanting a truck but would love a van for security. anyone put their bike in a mini van? i was looking at a dodge caravan. i need to bring my wife and daughter along as well as doing the typical day to day daddy stuff. van is more practical but truck is what i really want. with regards to a full size pickup anyone use a camper/shell type thing for security? can you put an alarm on the camper shell? any ideas. thanks rob

No one in the US makes a living competing so why are they called Pro? If you ride that class don't you feel embarrassed calling yourself a Pro? If you have ambitions to make that class and once you do, you still need a regular job or parent's money to support your riding.

On the Todo Trial site, www.todotrial.com on the Clasico section, there is a news story that Bernie will riding at an event in Spain next year along with a recent photo of him. The english translation is not so clear but it says he's in good shape from mountain biking so I guess he's going to be riding this vintage event. Maybe someone who speaks Spanish can translate better. It's been a long time since I've heard anything about USA's only World Champ. Has he ever ridden in the US in the last 20 years? From what I know, since retiring, he stayed in Europe, married the sister of another European world round rider, and switched from motorcycles to mountain biking.

To help bring Alan and others up to speed on the NATC proposals to revamp the nationals and enlarge the US Pro class, here's a thumbnail blueprint of that proposal. Expert Sportsmen, Expert and Pro would be combined into one large class. Creating a much larger gene pool for the pros and more competition. Pro sections would be a mix of 1/3 Expert Sportsmen level sections, 1/3 Expert sections and 1/3 Pro levels sections for the morning qualifier. Contested with the Sportsmen event like now with the splits for the Pros, the biggest change would be the need for only two lines in the sections instead of three like we use now. Love him or hate him, Lane "when I was with Arnie..." Leavitt is one of the most controversial characters on the US Trials Circuit. He recently registered for these forums, and although I've nothing at all against the guy, am aware of his past abilities to upset people. However, rather than just reject his efforts to be part of the Trials Central community, I took a straw poll today. The results were overwhelmingly in favour of allowing him to stir things up as only he can! Ladies and Gentlemen - live from Hollywood (as if you didn't already know!) - The Beav Returns!

I've been watching this guy and have to give him some props. Vern is an AZ Senior Novice rider. [Ever see the movie Hot Rod? If not, go rent it. Hilarious.] The movie was written about a guy just like Vern, except Vern is 52 years old who acts like a teenager and has a tremendously positive attitude. He is Deadly slow, so slow infact that sometimes you can't tell if he is moving, and that is no exageration. He is so slow, the crowd ends up cheering for him when he gets over an obstacle. To be beaten by Vern, while on a running motorcycle is... well, I can't even imagine. Just the same, he is out there and having a great time. ENJOYING THE SPORT HE LOVES AND NOT COMP…

Having seen all the rhetoric from the man on these forums, how good was he as a rider? is their any video footage about we could see as I really have no idea if he was/is any good?

The event began just a short time ago. Here's section 1. Pat took a clean, as did most riders. A shuttle is needed to get out by the sea-side sections. That doesn't leave until 11 AM. It's cold and very windy today.

Its really dead here on the forum and especially dead in my area. Feel like im the last one left in Sw Missouri but I'm not ready to turn the lights off. Ive been trying to stir up some new riders mainly thru local woods and Enduro guys. Maybe the poll should have stated what would best get people involved in trials. My personal story I read about trials bikes in dirt bike magazines in the 70s bought a used one at a local dealer was introduced to the sport events by a co worker rode one year set out 25 years went back i guess reliving my youth and have ridden 5 years since

Hey guys I have 5 acres (adjacent to 20 more I can use as I please) in the country and I am wanting to expand my home trials training riding area. I'm going to buy a few hundred (or more) railroad ties and am looking for ideas on how to use them to build some cool stuff to ride on. I have a skid steer at my disposal and all the soil I can use as well. Anyone have any ideas for some cool stuff I could build to ride on? Also any ideas for other stuff to use? Some ideas I have from seeing other stuff; Huge tires oil / water tanks concrete culverts logs pallets thinking maybe one of those across ocean shipping container also....
