I recall reading about the existence of an event called the ACU 1000 Mile Trial - I forget where. Possibly run in the early 1900s. Does anyone have any information on it? What happened to it? Just out of interest. Thanks.

The way the acu rules are for the classic championship in my opinion could do with revising. At the moment there are 5 classes. Pre 65

Well... good start to the year for this series... NOT! Just seen ACU have published "2016 Standing Regulations" for the series on their website (notified by their email too) and then open it up to see it is a copy of the 2015 regs. So, you ask, what is wrong with that? Answer - it is not what the Nene Valley and Colchester Castle clubs appear to have been told about. Nene have three champ classes (as they were instructed) of o40, O50 & O60 + a.n.other non-champ class. Meanwhile, Colchester are running 6 classes inc. Pre65, T/Shock, O40, O50 & O60 plus non-champ. on the acu web site there is a section for trials, under this you get a list of all the championships. If I click on the classic championship I get the ladies tables, is it just me?? i have written to the acu on there contact us link but typical acu no responce to me or the site. anyone have any other links to get to the championship positions.

Hi All, I'm looking to buy a pre 65 trials bike to one day compete in the Scottish and other pre 65 events. I am a modern trials rider and the pre 65 scene seems a bit of a mine field...I am 6 foot 5 and 105kg's so it needs to be something with reasonable power, although I appreciate it's not going to perform like a modern trials bike. I like the look of the tiger cubs and I know someone who has a good one for sale (230cc), but people tell me they can be a pain to set up. BSA C15 also seems like a popular option, but reasonably heavy? And I think a Bantam would be underpowered? If anyone can provide a bit of advice, that would be greatly appreciated. …

Hi, has anybody ,any experiance of fitting a pair of tele forks to a square framed Dot , would like to fit a pair of roadholders but would fit bultaco as a second option .Need to know yolk offset , ie distance between centre of steering stem and centre of fork legs , also would standard Norton roadholders be ok for length ? thanks in advance Pat kean

Just coming home from Donner Pass. For those of you who didn't know there was a two day vintage trials down there. There was a huge variety of trials bikes. Everything from a DMW (Richard Mann brought that one out. hello, i would like some imput on this, im in th U.S. iv proposed a new class to be added for ITSA, in a nut shell, it would make a class for air cooled single shock bikes built before 1990, iv heard that some of the Euro clubs havd been doing this with good results, without getting to deap in how i set the class, i would like to know who well it worked, and if any what were the problems, so i can adjust the guidelines for the class, and present it to the powers that be. mind you, no new sections ect, this will just bring these bikes off the trail, and out of the Garage, and let them be played with again like they should be, and keep them from being cut into twin s…

Im interested in adding one of these (if i can find one?) it wont be a rigid!!! to my collection as ive always loved the look of these bikes, how much are these in good condition? what year/ model best? how effective are these in pre65 trials (dont quote len hutty as thats more to do with the rider than the bike! ) also can one get used to the rear brake being on the left side of the machine as ive always been on continental re japs style bikes most of my life! pointers what to look for in case of being ripped off? thanks in advance lads

I bought the attached AJS from a bloke called John?? in Lincoln begining of this year. It was listed on good ole eBay but we had a deal before the auction ended. He told us that he had only been out on the bike once but didn't like trials & as he was a regular Classic MX BSA B50 racer was going to stick with that???????????. I asked him to send on previous owners details but nothing has arrived. Was told the bike might be registered so in short does anyone recognise the bike. Hi, I have owned a Matchless 350 trials motor since 1965 and ready for the AMOC Towcester national Jampot rally a few years ago got it all together with 21" and 19" rims but in a road frame. I now have a desire to make it reasonably competitve in the clubmans sections. The question is what do I need to do please? I have alloy rims in stock, new tyres [they were in 2001!] and a rear frame section from an AMC lightweight plus a fiberglass tank. Your collective advice please. Thanks. Richard in Bedfordshire.

Hello, I'm looking for an AJS 350 short stroke barrel or complete engine, can anyone help? I've seen a few post on here mentioning them so I thought it would be worth a try. I think you can get short stroke barrels with external push rod covers, but I'm looking for the type which had the rods inside the barrel. I know that people are still casting the long stoke alloy barrels, but not sure about the short stroke versions. Many thanks

Hi gents/ladies strictly speaking i know that this is not a trials topis but i bet some one out there has the answer i need. would a ajs stormer 370cc crank cases take a 250 barrel,head, piston and cranks??? basicaly can i make a 250 engine with 370 crank cases? many thanks james

Hi Guys, Im interested in a AJS trials bike on Ebay item number 200317965961 it states its an ex-Peter Pykett bikes is this correct? if so did MR Pykett leave the std fixed footrests and the cylindrical tool box holder and 19" rear wheel on the bikes? please cast your eyes over this and give me your honest opinions.
