Gas Gas

  1. Started by JonM,

I'm sorry for asking but I'm a bit lost and usual methods of getting answers aren't working... I've recently bought a heap of a 2001 250 TXT (eBay, and yes, I should've walked away) and last week removed the cracked, nasty rear tyre. I couldn't get the bead off on one side so ended up cutting it off. It was a Barum tyre with innertube, but I thought it odd no rim lock? So question 1- In 2001 did the TXT have tube front & tubeless rear? Question 2- the rim is nasty and corroded inside. Could this be a reason for running a tube (because it wasn't sealing well?) Question 3- if it's a tubeless rim but I choose to run a tube, is i…

My frame recently broke either side of the rear shock (the bent tubular peices) on my 08 pro, does anyone know if this can be welded and will it be strong enough? if not, how much would I be looking at for a new 08 frame or 09 frame as a rough guide? All the best Tom

I have a 2013 Gas Gas TXT Pro Racing with the flanged rear tubeless rim. I change my rear tire regularly but it seems that I am always in a hurry and never take the time to correctly inspect my rim when I do it. Well I have been having a slow pressure leak in the rear recently that became worse yesterday so I took the rear wheel off the bike and hunted for air leak with my bottle of soapy water. Turned out that there was some small rocks embedded between the rim and tire and most of the air was coming through there. But there is also a very small leak at the valve level (at the interface rim / valve). Is the tubeless valve on these rims the same as the au…

  6. Hi guys, recently a buddy of mine took my gas gas 280 txt pro out for a warm up spin, when he came back the bike was stuck in second or frist gear ( i cant remember) and the gear peddle was at the 11 o clock position rather than the normal 9 o clock position, we couldnt change up nor down!, on inspection we removed the clutch cover and found a mangled up "shift shaft return spring" and a bit of metal filings as well, also the inside of the clutch cover was damaged where the clutch release arm was rubbing up against it, I think that bit was due to not having the clutch hub bolt in it! anyway I though this would be an eazy fix! but the other day I was practicing balance on…

Hi , Im a newbie to trials after coming from road and enduro riding and have bought a Gas Gas 300 raga 2007 which needed some work but is great,My problem is that the tyre looks ok (X11) but im getting no grip. At first I thought it was me as my mates on their Betas were going up everything and I was really struggling but then we changed bikes and the Betas had so much more grip and they struggled on mine. So is it just the tyre or suspension or is it a gas gas thing ,I do prefer the how the gasser handles and turns but Im getting a bit frustrated when I can't get up a bank on mine but can on my mates bikes , The only other point is that theirs are 250's but mine spins …

I put 100mls of it in to my gasgas today just to top it up as the oil was low it made things alot quieter and clutch was nice and smooth. It seemed nice and good for me. It's also nice and cheap. Is it alright to use it for future gearbox oil changes? Thanks Ben Edit- the link does not work. It's Mobil 1 super2000 10w40 (google it)

Folks, new to the forum, GG and trials generally.... can be found on other forums under same ID. Just bought the above as my first trials bike.... the guys who make this look easy must be magicians! Hard, especially in soft sandy stuff! Bike is ok for its age, used but used ok and looked after well..... seems to have starting issues, or you need to be a 2T Jedi to get the thing to kick! Sometimes I can start it ok, other times I can't get it to fire at all. Couldn't get it to start whe it was hot (outside also, low 30's, moderate humidity), was running ok but when I killed it to take a break, it wouldn't come back.... had to push it home! Tank says 3.1L, wasn't on re…

Most trials and riding areas near where I live are so small a 3 liter tank and 5th and 6th gears are unnecessary. I'd like to only fill the tank with enough gas for a loop or a riding session but with the GG tank I can't tell how much is in there and would top off to be safe. I would be carrying around unnecessary extra weight up high where you want it least. 3 liters of gas weighs about 4.5 lbs and I only need about .5 liter for a loop or session. I can save weight by filling up with only the gas that I need and keeping in on reserve. So I made this simple visual gas gauge with clear fuel line and two vacuum line T-fittings. The green line shows where I usually fill to a…

I just bought a new TXT 300 and I've read the manual several times but a few things are unclear to me. Is the magnetic kill switch the only way to shut the engine off on this bike? I can't find anything about it in the manual. So you have to pull the magnetic lanyard to shut bike off? Will that wear the magnet out? Other bikes I have owned and even snowmobiles have the lanyard for safety and still have a kill button. Second question. My book suggests 67:1 oil mix ratio. I bought motorex Cross power t2 and that leads me to my final question. What kind of gas should I use? The manual suggests super unleaded 98 octane? Best I can find is 93 at the pump. Should I use race fue…

Ok I've seen various topics and such like about overheating causing cumbustion pressure to force its way passed the O rings, and in turn blow the water pump seal. This I understand completely makes perfect sense! I've had the head off and both the O rings look fine. As it is at the moment I can't see the WP seal because the damn bolts are seized and need drilled out but I'll get to that... So when my rectifier packed up my bike did overheat I limped home as fast as I could in as high a gear as I could to get max airflow through the rad with the least amount of revs. However I noticed today that my oil was milk! So an educated guess tells me that's what's happened to…

Hello, Could anyone offer any advice on my bike please. my bikes pinking a little, have had carb (delltoroto) off and cleaned out with compressed air, small jet seems very small, my sherco i could see clear light through, this one seems to be harder to 'see' through although was passing air freely through both holes, not adjusted mixture screw yet, It only tends to do it when revving harder. changed plug, also it does not start as good as i like my bikes to start, is this common with the 300, certainly needs a leg full usually, my 280 gg was a really good starter that had the iridium plug, are they better? thinking of going for the keihn carb i have heard they make a bi…
