which is the best and good price on off road bike insurance

i went to register a bike today all the correct documentation etc to hand having done it loads of times.. however.. you cant read about it anywhere on any websites or even on a poster but the process for registering a vehicle has changed significantly.. virtually all local dvla offices are closing in december and all applications will ahve to be done by mail.. in the meantime significant changes have alrady come into effect on 15/04/13. you need to do this for all vehicles built in the uk or not. you must have a dating certificate from the original manufacturer.. if not you must have a letter from the manufacturer stating that they do not have records or did not build…

Could somebody please give me the info required for getting a bike road registered. If the bike has matching engine and frame numbers and every part of the bike is as it was made. No evidence of a reg number or old tax disc is available. (this would be a UK reg) cheers for any info.

Good Morning All I have brought a Yamaha YZ250 yesterday I want to put it on road exempt enduro and get a log book for it and put it on q plate make it road legal , the last owner as put It on day time Mot which is ok so mot runs out July this year on this bike , question is will I need to register the bike with nova hmrc ? only thing ive done is filled in v55/5 form following guides on the utube that part is fine ,,,,please advise what other steps I need to do many thanks rich

Who do people use to insure there RR with as every company I’ve tried says the bike isn’t listed, the only model that is listed is the standard 260, thanks

The last few years I have insured my road legal trials bikes with specialist insurance companies that provide cover during a competition on the road. Most std bike insurance exclude this. With the ACU now providing insurance to cover the Road Traffic Act requirements as part of the entry fee is it necessary to go with the specialist firms or is standard road cover ok for TPF&T when not competing and for cover when going to a trial and when at home. Difference is about £140 per year so worth considering. Any thoughts or experiences

I'm restoring a Bultaco Sherpa 198A which is already road registered with V5 now in my name and being over 40 years old eligible for historic status. However, to apply for historic status the bike has to be insured. When I enquired whether Bikesure my current bike insurance / broker company would add the Sherpa to my multi-bike policy, they said yes as long as the bike had a speedo fitted and asked for me to just send them photographic proof. Seems a bit strange as I didn't think this was a requirement for an MoT etc. but just wondered if anyone else had this experience? And as Bultaco speedo's and drives seem rare and expensive, if a simple wireless cycle speedo wo…

The bike is a 1985 Honda RTL that I bought from Steve Saunders, it came with no V5 I want to get a V5 sorted - how do I go about it? Any advice would be great. Joe

Got my MOT booked for saturday on my 2007 sherco 290. Been sorting things out, got a horn (looks like something off my baby's walker), paperwork ready and done bearings as they had a little play in them, spoke to the bloke in garage and he said he'll cut me some slack with the number plate as he knows its near impossible to hang a full size one off the mudguard. But im a bit worried about tyres. Which tyres are road legal. I got dunlops that say competition use on them, so obvious these are not. anyone got info on some road legal tyres???????

Hi Booked my Sherpa in for MOT with a local comp shop (the owners son rides trIals). He said that if it was fitted with a IRC (TR 011R) rear tyre then they are not marked for road use and the bike will fail the MOT. Examined the tyre and, no 6 digit number or E marking. So does that mean that nearly all the competitors in Classic trials riders that use the Highways are not legal:- NO MOT THUS NO INSURANCE Comments please!!! Regards Martin

Hi guys, quick query. as the title says really. Have any of you guys insured your Oset, and if so, who with? (UK only). The bikes are currently covered on my contents policy but with the insurance company not actually knowing what an Oset is or how to categorise it, they're not filling me with confidence should i need to claim. My old Tiger Cub has been in my possession for 31 years , however when I moved out of my family home 25years ago, I couldn't find the log book, but as I only did the odd trial, and the Christmas engine run up with my Dad (RIP). I wasn't overly bothered , however while going through documents after we lost Mum, I found the original Log book in my name , So I sent it off to the DVLA, with covering letter .... Much to my surprise I have had a two month correspondents ping pong, even having to Photograph the frame number , number plate , etc.... But have finally been told its being processed ... Is this now the norm ?

As the title says who do you insure your evo with? My current broker does not recognise it and said to go to Norwich Union direct. Which I have done but I need a couple of quotes before I commit. Wasn't there an ACU linked scheme or am I imagining that? Thanks Dave

As title, What does it require? I have bike registered, a bolt on battery horn, a legal number plate. Insurance, Irc tyres on, brakes all good, clutch fine, Anything else? Can I take to get a pass? Ian

I need a dating certificate in order to register my OSSA MAR. I'm aware of the DVLA procedure which I have been through before - at some point I will need to produce a document to verify the production date. Given that OSSA don't exist I'm at a loss where to go for the certificate. Has anyone on the forum had any useful recent experience ? Thanks.

Hi, I have a 1972 Bultaco Alpina 250 nearing completion of restoration. It was imported to the UK from the USA about 4 years ago ( it's original export destination from Spain). I have matching engine and frame numbers. I will shortly be going through the process of getting it road registered and i understand if I can show to DVLA evidence of the original age corroborated by the manufacturer or an established owners club, i can get it registered with a 1972 number plate. Can anyone please help point me in the right direction of finding a source that can help ? thanks

just wondering what the process is? i have a 2002 sherco 290, what sort of process would be needed to get it registered with DVLA? also how much does it cost? any one got any experience with it or done it?
