New member here, and this is the first post on my recently purchased 2001 315r. Sorry to start my forum participation with a novel, but I thought I'd better provide all the information I can about my mysterious problem. The bike is hard to start, and when it does tick over with the choke on, the revs go sky high. I have to hold the choke in a half-on position while the motor warms up to keep it from either screaming or dying (is this normal?). Once warm, the idle hangs after revving and warbles (1-2 oscillations per second) when it finally drops, which it does very gradually over about 5-10 seconds. Whats the best replacement clutch to get for a 315 and where do i get it? Thanks in advance.

hi just brought my 1st trials bike and have come across info on montesa,a site sugesting i use 93 octane pump gas and 105-octane race fuel at a 50 50 mix. is this critical or can i use fuel straight from the pump ? Robin ps Bike 315R

Can anyone tell me what piston this is?i was told it would be printed with the letter a,b,or,c on it.Really struggling to get the piston kit I need.And she’s smoking badly also spitting oil out of exhaust.....Help...

right here is my list 1- I have just cleaned out the airbox and carb to make sure there is no dirt of water about. When i went to start the bike i was riding along and if keeped jumping (every time it ticked over). Also i would not rev out right felt like it was chocking and would not chande gear very well. 2-When the bike is in nutrual when you try to push it is very hard like i fells like it is in gear. But when you pull is backwards it is easy. (why is this). Gavin

Hi. I've spent quite some time looking through the various different forums but thought it was about time I put something up myself. I decided to buy a little twinshock project a few months ago with the intention of being able to ride it in beginers/easy trials. I managed to pick up this Montesa 247 which I'm hoping to tidy up and get it in a nice ridable state, once in this state I will then maybe look at the cosmetic side of things. Hi all, As the title, i have a 315 but was thinking of modernising it and freshening it up with a 4rt rear mudguard. I have seen pics of bikes with them on so i know its do-able, but how?? Obviously it will need to be cut down at the front, and a hole drilled for the top bolt to go through but does the rear subframe need modifying to accept the rear fastening points? Thanks for any advice!

Montesa World Racing 4RT engine got hot and blew out most of coolant. Refiled and noticed that the flow through radiator was non. Checked pump, OK. Checked seals, OK. No water in oil or compression leaks into coolant system. Bike has been running fine last 50 hours. After this happend the engine was low on cooland(due boil), but i also had to fill 150ml engine oil for some reason. Never used a drop before(can it be due it got hot?). So i wonder why this happen, what to look for. This is a 2012 model Future World Racing 292cc Montesa with bigger radiator ++ Fan runs ok, so thermostat is ok. Else i wonder, can air block the coolant flow?

I wasn't going to publish these as have done enough posting pics in the past and also i'm still waiting for the flat tank, but i have just thought what the hell.

Hi all, I have just purchased a 2002 315r. I haven't taken it out as yet but was just thinking can you still buy plastics for them? Had a quick look on the Internet and most shops say there discontinued? Also on another topic is elf the best gear oil to use? If so what is the interval between oil changes? I don't ride like a motor cross rider and I am only a novice, I used to use Gp10 in my beta and changed every 3-5 rides out but read the old girls only like elf? Thanks in advance Adam

This goes on a bit but please bear with me, I'd like to know if anyone has had similar problems and solved them. I got my 2009 in the middle of last year. Starting was never the best (I know the correct technique of no throttle etc) but has deteriorated to the point where at two trials last week I had to reset the system several times at almost every section to get the thing to go. Once running it does so perfectly with no suggestion of a problem. New plug and valves correctly gapped, sufficient slack in the cable, properly oiled air filter. Hi everyone. I desparately need some help before a trip is needed to the dealer.My mate has just bought an 05 4rt and took it for its first outing today. Kicked over first time at the start, rode it fine for about half an hour, stopped for 5 mins for a drink and now it just will not start. We have now been trying for a good few hours to get it going but it does not want to know. I have taken the plug out and it is very slightly wet which I expected with kicking it over for so long without it firing, but it is in good nick with a good spark. I have cleaned and reseated all the connectors I can see but I dont know where to start now as I know nothing about 4 stoke bikes. c…

Has anybody removed all the ristrictors in the exhaust yet. Had my bike since November and left all the ristictors in place. After experimenting with removing the spark arrestor, i now have removed collar A front pipe and collar B middle box and the rear spark arrestor. Have to say the bike is transformed. Bottom end is as before but power feels increased and comes in with no delay. The bike also starts first time when warm. unlike before. I think this is how the bike is supposed to be but comes fully ristictored due to noise level under load. Note:- no middle box gaskets yet so have to use CR mx
