Twin shock mods
For the clutch & cover as there’s no more ‘88 TXR donor bikes about anymore. (Which I do feel guilty about as the old man was the first to do this back in the ‘90’s) now it’s a well known mod.

Oily fuel mix coming from exhaust
Yep not stationary though, a proper ride in the countryside under load. Then you’ll also have an idea if the bike is too rich,

Help needed 300st won’t start
What spanky said. everything is pointing at the floats & whether they are shutting off the fuel.

GasGas identification
I’d stay well clear of that, it’s nowhere near a 2005 model or a pro (which were introduced in 2002) which brings your own bike into question.

2019 300 EVO; what to look for
Even 80:1 using good quality synthetic oil my ‘19 evo puts out a lot of blue smoke as it seems to collect in the pipe if your not riding it hard.

New Montesa 301 RR announced - Oct 2019
Someone “in the know” at the silsden world round (no idea who now!) told me the 2020 would be a proper new model, I dismissed it at the time of course but we’ll soon know I suppose.

Newer bike
Different bikes suit different people. Try as many as you can before deciding. Otherwise it can be a costly mistake.

Help me
When you say it wont kick over, do you mean its seized, or it kicks over but wont start?

Fat old guy with Scorpa 300 report
Choosing a 300 to learn on probably isn’t the ideal scenario, but stick with it, riding in mud can be soul destroying when you are spinning & pushing and others appear to find plenty grip. Time on the bike will pay off eventually.

Picking a new bike ..
Good man, now get out there & practice, more time on the bike the better.

Picking a new bike ..
aevans692 You're overthinking it, you must buy the bike that's suits you the best, otherwise you'll be setting off on the wrong foot from the start. You spent a day on a TRRS 250 & liked it, buy one. Sorted

Is changing a piston and barrel easy?
I would walk away, theres plenty of other bikes around that arn't knackered. If you've already bought it i hope you got it really cheap as you cant take someones word that its just the piston & rings. I'd expect to spend a few £££'s on the other things that would need doing also.

NEW BIKE INFO PLEASE
Do swingarm bearings at same time as linkage, they are very poorly sealed & suffer from water ingress & rust.

exhaust sealant and hard to find neutral on Evo on first outing
80:1 synthetic is more than enough, & is what most people seem to use. I have a ‘19 evo 300 & it’s a devil to find neutral.
