My TY 175 is progressing nicely. I have read on this forum the mixed results that people have had with the Electrix World system. Some have said some very nice things, others have had no luck and everyone seems to agree that they are not especially communicative with their customers. In my case, I sent several e-mails and none received any response at all. When I ordered an "electronic ignition" from an American source, the Electrix World unit arrived. So...that's what I am using. Hi I have just bought a WES system for my majesty 250, and i am looking for a chrome front pipe to complete the job. Any one here know who sells these? I was told the miller ones fit but surley they would be for a standard yam twinshock, whereas i got a MK2 godden framed bike.. Any help appreciated

I have a '74 TY250 and it seems like the back end is a bit skittish. I saw someone had posted in one of the forums about modifying the rear suspension to match the dimensions of a Honda TLR200. I checked the measurements and it looks like the swingarm on the TLR is about 1.56 to 2 inches longer that the TY. I have seen a set of weld on extensions for the TY250 on eBay. Anyone have any inputs on this? Anyone extended theirs? How did it work out? Note, I am in the USA so no problems with scrutineers. The TY250 is mostly a buddy bike and occasional play bike, not a serious competition machine. Thanks.

Hi! I'm thinking of upgrading my ty250 twinshock forks, could do with some advice on what forks work well ?

I've recently bought a TY175 that has what I believe to be an (early) Majesty frame, with the frame modifications (upper shock mountings, lower frame/bash plate) found on these. It's been yellow, overpainted silver, so I'm sure that I'll be able to get at enough of the original (?) yellow paint to get a colour match done at a paint specialist. If I do, I'll post the results here. Meanwhile, does anybody know what shade of yellow was used? I've already posted that Paul Cowley, of Shedworks, uses RAL1003, Signal Yellow, for the yellow replica components he makes. And does anyone know who did the original paint finish on the Majesty frames? Thanks. John

So today I had the left side cover off and wondered if the points needed any attention- It had been a couple of months since I attempted to set them up, and I re-read the instructions in my 75 shop manual again just to refresh my memory. But laying on the garage floor trying to peek into a small hole in the flywheel is not much fun, nor is trying to guess at the timing. Probably the worst part is that the slot in the points plate is wider than the securing screw by about 1mm. Can anyone tell me if there is anyone doing the 200 conversion kit for the 175, also is it a worthwhile thing to do to a 175, I have had conflicting reports some say it's good others that it makes bike peaky and less tractable, I know it can depend on how well set up it is. Help/pointers much appreciated.

Hello Everyone, I just posted my intro a few days ago, and in part of that intro I showed my current project, my son's TY250. My question regards the flywheel on the TYs. This TY is a 493-200127, which makes it a 1977 vintage. Were the flywheels made extra heavy for them, and are they distinguishable from other 250 Yamahas of that time frame? I ask this because somewhere around 1992 or 93 my son bought this bike. He rode it for a while until one day it quit on him, no spark. Hi, I just got this TY175 that was given to me. It sat for a couple of years and the last time the previous owner tried to start it, it wouldn't start. He told me there was no spark, and that when he opened the mag cover it was half fll of water. I started diagnosing with the knowledge I have and information found on the internet. First thing I found is that the ingnition coil is dead, open on the primary side, son I bought an aftermarket one. Installed it, cleanet points and set points gap and now I only have weak intermittent spark. I will order new points and condenser, is there anything else I should check?

I have noticed a lack of compression and a fair bit of knocking from the top end of the engine and this morning removed the head and cylinder barrel for inspection. The bore measures 67.98mm and the piston 67.73. I measured this with a digital caliper. I could only get an accurate measure of the bottom part of the bore as there seems to be a part of the top of the bore not touched by the piston. This impedes the prongs of the caliper from finding a accurate measurement. The piston and bore look to be in good order, apart from the gap of aprox 0.20 between piston and bore. The piston does seem rather slack on the small end bearing. I will definitely replace this pa…

Hi iv never rode a trials bi,e but have been dirtbiking seince I was little. Im about to pick up 1976 ty 175 and was wondering what there capable of handeling. Oviously this somthing Im going to have to figure out by riding it but I dont want to brake the old girl the first day out. Most of the riding im going to be doing is real steep rocky and technical but theres a couple spots Im concerned about like some 2 to 3 foot ledges. Will she be cool if I huck it off or should I go slow and drop the nose down befor letting the ass falow. How about going back up can these bikes get up a 2 3 foot ledge. Pleas fill me in thanks.

hi guys i have found this bike i know the seat and front mudgaurd are wrong and someones has screwed stunt pegs to it .... but how nmuch do you recon i should offer the guy for it... i wont hold you to it but i know its quite rare now and was the last twin shock yam made... also i guess the parts are like hens teeth sorry i can't get a pic up will send photo if you can get an email address to me cheers jason

Just a word of thanks to all the Sages on here for their advice & knowledge. I have fitted an RD350 inlet rubber to my TY 175 and it DOES make a difference. Put some more holes in the airbox too. There is an induction noise now, excellent ! Cheers !
