I've recently found a problem with lack of braking power on the front of my Electric Motion. First, a little bit of background: I've had the bike for three years and this problem has just started. The front brake is a braktec monobloc. My normal procedure between trials is to abrade both pads and disc with wet'n'dry and clean with brake cleaner. Three trials ago I fitted new Galfer red pads. For the first trial they worked fine. At both of the next two I found that the braking power was very weak. Although it was something I had never done before, and was a bit sceptical about, I rode up and down a bit with the front brake on to heat it up, then sprayed it with water…

Which knee pads or knee and shin protectors you think to be the best ones? Any experiences about Tomcat Knee pads? How about volleyball knee pads?

Hi. After getting into trials with a 2001 gasgas txt 250 which subsequently died/knackered piston and barrel I am looking for a newer bike. I am after advice as to what to look out for. I have around £1500 budget. I like the look of the sherco st290 05-07 age. But don't know much about them. Alternatively a 05 gasgas txt pro. Does anyone have any advice regarding either or usual problems to look out for? Cheers. Al

Trial on Sunday, spectator on the day, who is also a club member, approaches a rider at the end of the trial and says " hope you gave yourself a five for your rear wheel being outside the flag going through a gate on section one, 3rd lap" Rider has no idea what he's on about and explains he couldn't give what he didn't see. Fast forward 48 hours, rider gets a call from trials convener to say spectator has complained about riders score after having seen the results, that showed rider hasn't been marked for a five. What is or should be the decision ??

I found a recent online survey of Spanish trials enthusiasts who had been asked (I think) ‘What make of bike would you buy at this moment?’ With just over 700 replies the result is shown below. Add a pinch of Spanish salt. Montesa 23% TRS 22% Beta 16% Sherco 11% Vertigo 10% Gas Gas 6% Scorpa 6% JotaGas 4% Ossa 1.5% Other? 0,5% Well done Jordi Tarrés and gang if this translates into sales. The new Montesas are admired too. My conclusions from this poll? Keep them conventional. Either make the bike very light or beautifully made. And try not to put things like fuel tanks (or rear shocks) in funny places?

Trials riding is such a great workout, there's no doubt about that. Was curious if anybody uses Trials riding as exercise exclusively? If not, what else do you do to keep in shape?

Was at a trial today and the topic of youth trials and training came up, My feeling is to much effort is put into the youth riders training days half price enterys etc .Theres source of riders the new adults are just forgot about, its all about the youth and before you say "we need the youth for the future of the sport" .Think on this if they are youths now, how long before they can do the running of clubs and trials ? What we need is people NOW not in 10-15years time so is the youth really the future of the sport or is it the new adult riders ? and how long will adults be happy to off set the cost of someones child adults £15 youth £5

Whilst trawling the web to order some parts for the Majesty, cables a lever etc. Non genuine parts I noticed how the prices vary by pounds and not pence for simple stuff like cables etc. Is it me or has anyone else here noticed the same. I do when I can support the firms that advertise on TC but of the ones in question none advertise on here. At the end of the day J K Hirst got my business and they will get future business from me. I would like to name and shame the greedy one but I am sure I would get a slapped wrist from TC .

Possibly a strange request, but have any trials riders had laser eye surgery? I am feed up wearing spectacles and have been considering this option. If any riders have had this done I would appreciate any comments or problems that may come up through trial competitions. Andrew

World Championship rider Tadeuz Blazusiak won the prestigious Erzberg Rode Enduro in Austria against the top Enduro riders in the World. In fact the top five places were occupied by current or former top trials riders. Tady was loaned a bike by the promoter of the Enduro and invited as a wild card rider. Brit Tom Sager was second and World Enduro Champ Juha Salminen was third. Brits Wayne Braybrook and Paul Edmonson finished 4th and 5th. Results Red Bull Hare Erberg Rodeo 2007 1. Tadeuz Blazusiak, Poland, KTM, 1:29.48 2. Tom Sager, Britain, KTM, 1:35.36 3. Juha Salminen, Finland, KTM, 1:42.45 4. Wayne Braybrook, Britain, GasGas, 1:47.10 5. Paul Edmondson, Britain,…

Don't worry the bike is ok!!! I was attempting a big hill (2nd gear) and was doing fine. I had been up this once before and when realising I was not going to get the last almost vertical area I stopped and did a front wheel slide turn with both brakes on, to get bike facing downhill and away I went. This time foot slipped off the rear brake and I started down the hill backwards so I bailed by laying bike over and digging the bars and pegs in. Bike stopped but I fell backwards on to my backside and flared up an old injury to a lumbar vertebrae that is about 15mm plus out of alignment. Pain was terrible so I just lay there for about 20 minutes... looking at bike 3 metr…

I've just been wondering how/what got you started in trials and when did you start? Well mine is a bit unique to say the least. My first official date with my current fiance was at a trials event. He had me scoring a section with him and his father and told me that the pros were coming up the rock I was on but failed to tell me just how close well I was about a foot away from their boots lol. And I've been hooked ever since =)

As there's been a few 'what tyre?' topics recently and a suggestion for a poll and the fact I'm bored on nightshift, here goes.............. Let me know if you think something should be added/deleted (Can't add any more brands - only ten choices but I think I've covered the most of them?) I personally like Michelins so you know where I've voted, they're a bit of a pain to bead in but that's another topic........ Enjoy GJ
