broke my front brake lever at charltons thursday ridin the logs turned around on the bank lost balance jumped off and the lever smashed on a rock that was ok but then the lever moved up sending the throttle up making it rev like a bitch on heat sending it flying and it ripped the lever, the thing insde the squidgy bit has gone missing like a bolt with a lil head on it, so if anyones riding the logs and rocks left of coming into the carpark and sees something like it, tell me cause i cant get my bike fixed for about two weeks and it already needs loads doing to it and if the piston is stuck inside ill have to pay 46 quid for a whole new lever and i dont have that kinda mo…

I've had this happen three times now. Basically what's happend is ive either landed slightly sideways or slid slightly sideways and popped it off the bead, which has resulted a ride back to the car with a flat tyre! Is there a way to stop this like some kinda bead glue or something? Anyone else have this problem? I'm running the tyre about 7psi given that I'm 12.5 stone. (that's .48 bar and 79kg for the rest of the world) Rear tyre that is. Edit again.. It's also a new Pirelli tyre so it's not like it's old and weak...

Hi everyone! So, my background is about 26 years of riding dirt and street, dirt just focused on trails, never motorcross, my dirt bikes were a XR200 and a KTM 300 (2 stroke). I finally decided that with the type of riding I do (tight woods) I didn't need a big heavy bike and never sat down when riding anyway, so trials bikes started looking really appealing. My little wife has never ridden a bike in her life, but is excited to learn. I wanted to get her started out on a something she can flatfoot on that's light. Hey, All!!! Have a weird question here. Let me preface it with this: My 2010 Gas Gas 280 Pro was being ridden by a newbie a few afternoons ago (not me; a true "Trials Bike Newbie), and got crashed. It was a loopout from doing a wheelie that went terribly bad. Fortunately, the rider wasn't hurt in the least. Any recommendations for a chain lube that isn't too sticky? Currently using Rock Oil and always applying it days before a ride to give it a chance to soak in but its so sticky that the chain gets filthy in no time. I do have some Wurth dry chain lube, that worth trying?

What do you all use for washing your bikes? Sponge water... pressure washer.... Some other form of exotic washing equipment... Just interested to know! Rich

Hi guys Im well and truly sick of flat tires. I have some of the coolest spots to ride on my doorstep but flats are becoming a major issue Issue is mainly with the front, rear is easy to plug and slime seems to be working. So my plan is to try jam a pool noodle in the front tire. Either just a noodle and no tube or split the noodle and use it between tube and tire, like a thick liner. What do you think? Might it work? Im desperate! !

Hi guys, my dad has only just suggested this to me and i am still considering what i should do I was planning on getting a 2004 Beta next week, but my dad asked me if i would want the 05 model, he then asked me a real wacky question.. he said "how bout you wait until october holidays then ill get a towbar on the car and we will drive across to the factory in Spain and get the bike from there" at first i was liking the idea but now i realised that Beta is made in Italy. but does anyone know if there are any factories in Spain that sell brand new Betas and if it would be cheaper going over in the car to pick it up? any advise real soon would be great thanks Cheers guys…

Went to a trial the other day and sat in a few queues. No great problem with that except for the riders who think your not allowed to turn off your bike engine once the trial has started! A few sat with engines running in queues of 10 to 15 riders till it was their turn to ride. A rider said to me if it was a business the Health and Safety officials would of shut it down! I think if you want to top yourself exhaust gasses are quite effective! It might be an idea if the ACU had some guidelines or rules eg; Bikes should be turned off except when riding or just prior to you riding a section. Might save a bit of fuel as well. Mark T

I've never ridden anyone else's bike until yesterday. I was completely new to trials before i bought a Montesa 4RT on the recommendations of owner and people on this site about a year ago. I have no problems with this advise - its a cracking bike and i wouldnt swap it now for anything. I got on with it well from day one, always found that the power tended to dominate the proceedings, i still do.... thats a 4 stroke i figured I'm used to its manners now... so i guess im past the beginners phase. Some people worry about things that may never happen; catastrophic global warming, asteroid strikes, zombie uprising etc. but I can't help thinking about the dropped bike scenario where the engine tries to rev itself to death . A few recent posts have touched on the subject, citing dead-man's cut outs and the like but I've seen a few 2-stroke motors completely ignore the kill-switch on their way to death row. Never mind 'What would Jesus do?' What would TC members do? Please vote and discuss, any real life experiences or remedies could affect my sleep patterns :-

As above.... anything obvious to check? Following on from my thread about a cracked rear rim on the Gas Gas sub-forum, my wheel has been rebuilt but it's not holding pressure. When I went to pick it up the tyre was pumped up to 17psi to set the bead on the rim, so I dropped it to 5psi when I went to take it for a short run to check everything, seemed ok. However it's not holding pressure, been checking it and its going flat within a few hours. Rim is going back to the shop but as above... anything obvious? Checked the tyre, edges of the rim and nipped up the valve... anything else?

So… After much info gathering and helpful advice from you lovely lot on here, as of today I am the proud owner of a really nice 2008 Beta Rev 250. Hardly a mark on it, comparatively speaking, don’t even know if it has ever been trialled in earnest, it certainly hasn’t by the last owner. I’ve been in touch with my nearest club (Oxford Ixion) through their Facebook group to enquire about how to get going having never ‘done’ trials before, at least not properly. Yet another high profile electrical failure for Dougies bike. I'm no expert, & there probably are other factors involved, but SURELY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS Beta (and sherco) must be able to sort this stator problem. (assuming it is the stator) What is it now.........7 or 8 years of problematic stators on betas? John Lampkin must be furious with the factory for allowing this brand-damaging problem to continue. Please can someone shed some light on why this isn't sorted on what otherwise seems a first class machine? This is an honest question and not a slanging match against Beta.

That of all the brands, it seems like TRS riders are the most likely to go full "power ranger" with the TRS clothing? Do they come cheap with the bike or does the bike attract a certain type (like with BMWs). I'm a tart and I'd like a shiny new TRS RR but I don't think I could bring myself to wear the kit too... But then I'm a fat old man.. Thoughts? ?
