Trials Transport

Hi guys, sorry, newbie question. Ive searched and cannot see an answer in old topics but does anyone know if a trials bike will fit in the back of an old Vauxhall Agila? I have the chance to pick one of those up cheaply and wonder if I'll be able to fit a bike in the rear with the back seats taken out? unfortunately I don't have a bike yet so cannot try this out before committing! Would this fit if I remove the front wheel from the bike? thanks all!

I appreciate this question has been answered before but with new products/vehicles around thought it may be worth asking again.... I'm a newbie starting up, just sold my road bike that was my 24/7 transport so.... Little car and trailer or van ? Is there any advantages or just personal choice? Cheers Jody

I have got fed up with towing a 2/3 bike trailer and am planning selling it and buying a van. The van is to hold 2 trials bikes. i have a newish Fiat Doblo LWB in mind. i would welcome comments from owners of small vans , particularly Doblo owners, and smallest feasible engine size.

Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner seem to be the obvious choices for a bike-carrying van. However a lot of the older/cheaper ones are in an awful state as they seem to appeal to builders. I've noticed a few nice Renault Kangoos advertised which look to be in much cleaner condition. Perhaps they appeal more to flower shops and the like. Has anyone used a Kangoo? Does a bike (just one) fit in OK?

The time has come to renew the rear tyres on the Sprinter. The std Vaneao ones are ok on the road but are useless on wet grass or even a slight bit of mud. Not looking to go off roading just to be sure i can get out of a venue. Sometimes its spinning on wet grass on the flat So what would the team recommend ? Needs to be ok for the M.O.T. btw. Thanks

Hi All, Does anyone know if it is possible to get a trials bike inside a Land Rover 110 hard top? I've looked at dimensions and it appears marginal, so I'd welcome feedback from anyone that has actually tried it. Thanks, Neil

I know this has been asked before but I can find anything recent that helps. I'm thinking of getting a van and wondered which was the smallest that would carry a full size bike and a beta 80. I've been looking at the partner at around a 12 reg so hopefully this would fit them in?

I'm thinking of getting a Dave Cooper van rack for my bongo, it has an 85kg nose weight which is probably better than many vehicles that use racks but it has a fair bit overhang past the back axle. Has anyone used a trials rack on a bongo. It will be to carry a montesa Cota 247 initially Cheers

Hi Anyone out there using a bike rack on the back of a Freelander 2? If so does it work well? Are there any issues with handlebars touching the rear window? Thanks

Hey everyone quick question, i have been strapping my bike into van by putting front wheel up against bulkhead then running 2 ratchet strap from handlebars to anchor points left and right on bulkhead. Seemed pretty easy and held bike solid. Mate of mine said this is a no go as will damage front forks (presume because they under compression while transporting) But couple of other guys at club said its fine. Who is right ? Hopefully its fine as its def easiest way I've found to hold bike securely but if not how else does anyone strap bikes up? Thanks Matt

My rear wheel drive 08 LWB Vito isn't good in the wet, and with winter not far away I am going to change the tyres,at least the rears, to see if I can improve both wet weather and of course muddy field performance. It's just a trials van so not desperately bothered about lifespan, just as long as I can get some decent traction when I need it. Had it for about six months now and know I'm going to be in bother if I don't change them. Do you go for town and country, snow?, or whatever. So, question is, are there any tyre experts out there or anyone with experience of my situation who can point me in the right direction on what to go for

Being a car guy I have had many trials haulers. Not being deterred by size or original intent I have been known to show up at an event with various rides. The soon to be Mrs. and I decided this past winter to head on down to trails training days on top of our east coast nationals. For the past couple of years we have been doing this out of my Passat station wagon which can haul the gear but it can get a bit old when talking about a long weekend or even a longer trip. Hi I am looking to buy a van, I have seen the Fiat Doblo's driving around and they look like they would be a good size, as they appear to be slightly larger than the same age Vauxhall combo (2003ish). Has anybody got any experience with this van, Ideally I will be wanting to fit in 2 bikes on the odd occasion! Otherwise I think I am going to be going down the route of an older style combo van. My company car is up for renewal, I have a nice comfortable Passat saloon with toys and DSG gearbox. I towed a trailer initially but I have been using a rack on the back of the car of late which is far more convenient, the bike rack is fine and travels well but I am never completely comfortable with the bike on the back of the car. I have been wondering lately whether to buy my own vehicle instead of getting a company one and purchase a car where I can carry the bike inside. Does anybody carry there bikes to trial in a people carrier? If so then which ones work best? I am thinking that it would have to have either flat folding seats or removable seats and it would have to be quite tall and long.
