Trials Transport

Hi I am looking at getting a small can I am thinking of the Vauxhall combo cheap to run and buy! But I need to carry two bikes in it will I get two bikes in? I have read I can but can people please give me some advise before I spend my money? Thanks

Has anyone here any experience with a motolug http://www.motolug.com/index.php folding trailer that they can share? I know they are not the cheapest, but I like the idea of being compact to store and having the option to assemble it as a one or two bike trailer. If anyone has used one I would be interested in your feedback on the quality, ease of assembly/disassembly and how well it tows. Thanks in advance.

I’ve used a bike rack for quite a few years, without any problems (and I’ve done quite a few miles) on various cars and small vans But I’ve now started to worry about the weight on the back and the law I know there is a nose weight for vehicles but I was always under the impression that this was for the towing & stability of a trailer? I’m currently using the wife’s Rover 25 which pulls the bike nicely but only has a nose weight of 70Kgs! (which is more than some big cars)

Hi everyone, Looking at getting a bike again after a couple of years off but I'd quite like a small van to keep it from prying eyes and for ease of loading so no faffing with a trailer etc. It will also be handy for the mountain bikes. I'm looking at some of the newer models, i used to have a face lift vw t5 which was lovely but now not necessary and too expensive. I quite like the caddy's but they are quite expensive for a basic spec but still an option. The Citroen berlingo looks like a good option as the enterprise model has air con, electric windows etc and looks smart inside. Has anyone got either of the above and how do you find it for one b…

Hi I have a Witter detachable swan neck towbar on my car. I wanted to fit a bike rack but they all only seem to fit on fixed towbars. Hello folks, I'm after a small van. due to it's low price and simplicity, my number one choice is a citroen c15. But i'm unsure if a trials bike fits in the back. Has anybody had any experience with these or seen somebody using one for bike transport? I'm also considering a ford fiesta courier. hello I've got a gas gas 270 (98model) and I'm looking to buy a van for work purposes but Id like on which will fit a trails bike or maybe even 2 bikes in the back. has anyone got a VW caddy van that knows this? thanks in advance.

Someone told me today that all trailers should have a chassis plate or the police can seize it. I know all new trailers need a SVA cert, but I built mine a few years ago (before the new law) Do I need to fit a chassis /vin plate?

Merry Christmas all. Im looking for a van to get round the trials. Does anyone know if a 4rt and oset 20 will fit into a nemo (Citroën van) or will I need something bigger ?. Been looking and there are some great bargains around at the minute :-) .. If not the Nemo, what's your opinion on the best van for the job ? Cheers and all the best.

My long wheelbase Citroen Relay decided its time for a new injector pump a couple of days ago so I've hired a small Fiat Doblo van for the week to get me around. The most important factor this morning was whether I could get the fatlass in the back for tomorrow which didn't look likely when I opened to back doors earlier. I put the bike in backwards and sideways and it fitted in just fine, head room was also fine even with full lock and there's plenty of tie points to hold her down. The van drives really well, there's plenty of room in the cab and lots of pockets/storage. Its nippy as you'd expect and incredibly quiet even at speed. Hope this helps anyone who ma…

Anybody got a new transit and could tell us what its like compared to a trafic or transporter ?

hi all, bought a trailer for my 1st trail bike but now I'm wondering about security when I Park up and go on the bike. any tips or advice on how you guys get on with the same situation. I won't be buying a van and only have a detachable tow bar so a rack is probably out of the question too. cheers

Hi, I have fitted my bike rack today, for the first time, just as a trial run because i am going out on my bike for the first time at the weekend and wanted to make sure everything was ok and it fits great, the bike sits nice and it doesn't hit the back of the car or anything like that, the only thing that concerns me is, after i fit the first bar to where the tow ball is and then slot the two other pieces in to it, should their be something that stops the two pieces from jumping out, like a pin or something or do i just use ratchet straps to pull it all together. this is a photo of the type of rack i have got.

Spent some time with a trailer manufacturer to design a trailer for our trials, enduro and road bikes. Criteria was... Single axle with disc brakes, 1400kg capacity, tare weight around 500kg, longish drawbar with big gear box and lockable, wide ramp to ride bikes into trailer, fully enclosed. 2 bike capacity normal with 4 in when needed, recessed tie-down pionts as we want to sleep inside at trials events and not stub toes, fully painted outside and underneath, new wheels and tyres not second hand, led lights and full registration for road. paid my tax at the weekend so i can get on and get a new ish van... so the Citian..can i get a bike in straight or does it have to go diagonally.. are they ok? any issues?..

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on sideways bike trailers? Like this: I haven't really got space to store a conventional bike trailer, so I'm wondering if building something similar for the trials bike is a silly idea or not?
