Trials Transport

I’ve just tied up an old bike trailer, and have replaced lights, tyres, some welding and a fresh paint job. But it has no chassis plate, I’m guessing it’s a homebuilt or modified small trailer Whats the law on not having a chassis plate on an old trailer?

Currently have a LWB Vito Dualiner and can get 2 bike in easily by rolling the rear seat forward. Am looking at a L2 (think that's Fords name for LWB) Transit but they have a bulkhead and the load length is a bit shorter than the length of a trials bike. Assume they would probably go in with front wheel turned etc but before I look any further thought I'd check - does anyone on here use a L2 transit with a bulkhead and gets 2 (or more) bikes in? If so, how? angled bars, cut a gap in bulkhead etc etc? TIA Nick

I have a 2005 Ford Fiesta which we are looking to put a Dave Cooper bike rack onto the back for a supermoto pit bike. I believe that the nose weight is just over 60kg but the bike weighs 71kg. I am worried that because it is over the weight it will affect the steering of the car? Also if anyone has any advice or experience on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I use it firmly mounted in a L2H2 Opel (Vauxhall) Movano B = Nissan NV 400 = Renault Master III.

I'm shopping for a first trials bike and a new (used) car at the same time. I'm looking at different minimal setups for hauling, either enclosed or on some sort of class 2 (1 1/4", 350lb tongue weight) hitch carrier. Most carriers are for Class III hitches and fuel economy really suffers with that capacity vehicle. Trying to avoid a trailer too but need to read more on that. The Honda Element is one of the best candidates i have come across so far. A trials bike should fit fine with some fork compression, or maybe deflating the tire, spinning the bars down in the clamps. I have considered buying a van for sometime now but when you do the maths it doesn’t really add up. As I needed to collect a bike I elected to hire a van from an ‘enterprising’ company. There are companies offering small vans for £23 a day but by the time you add on all the extras it starts to become expensive, plus they are quite away from my location. Anyway I hired a van locally for £31 accident waiver fee was £32 and fuel used was £27. So thats a true cost of £63 the fuel would be used no matter what method of transport chosen. I've got a concern regarding Tow bar nose weights. I've a tow bar fitted to my van. When shopping around I found most tow bar manufactures advised max nose weight of 70kg. My beta weights 65kg approx. The Dave Cooper tack fits nice and tight on the tow bar. The other day I got caught out with a speed bump with the bike on the back. I can't imagine how much the nose weight increased by when going over the bump. After stopping to check 1 of the tie downs had come very loose but also noticed the the tow bar had slightly dropped. I took it to get checked and It had moved only a few millimetre and had to re-tighten the fixings.

Thinking of buying one of the both, (all the same, size) can you get a one trials bike in the back of the L1 (swb) or do I need the L2 - 2015 Thank you

I’m looking to buy a van to transport 2, possibly 3 Trials bikes. I’ve narrowed it down to Ford Connect (new shape) L2 or a Citroen Dispatch (new shape). I’d prefer to buy the Ford, but checking the dimensions of the van it seems close for two bikes, so very close for 3 bikes. The Dispatch has more space but lower mpg. Does anybody have a connect L2 with 3 bikes or dispatch?

I've seen a thread on here about Connect vs. Caddy, but it wasn't clear if people were talking about the new shape (2013 onwards) Connect or the older shape, Will the new shape long wheelbase (L2) Connect fit 2 bikes and occasionally 3? Thanks

Can’t see how I’m going to fit a Dave cooper rack on my Range Rover sport, they only have a tow ball not a Flat back plate to bolt on to? cheers Rich

Hi Has anyone tried putting 2 trials bikes in the back of Vito compact dualiner? Can you get away with folding the seats forward and taking the single one out? Or do you need to remove all three seats or go for the long wheelbase? Cheers Smudger

Found a great product that helps secure a trials bike while bouncing around in a trailer to get to the ‘trials ground’. As we know the trials mudguard is very close to the tyre where my KTM EXCF 500 has a reversed shock mount I can use a spacer. Tried a few different ways, tie downs from the handlebars- front shockies triple clamp etc but the Tyrefix Ace Bikes system works a treat as it slides under the front mudguard, simple and easy. Hi ive just got a Dave Cooper Bike rack, but forgot to ask what the torque wrench setting should be for the mount on the towbar? Anybody know?

I'm 17 in January and I'm going to start driving lessons, when I have passed both my theory and practical is it legal for me to have a bike rack on the back of my car to transport my gas gas or do I have to be a certain age? Strange question I know, thank you in advance for any help.

Ive got a Mercedes Sprinter at the moment but i'm thinking about getting a smaller van for better mpg. cheaper insurance, cheaper road tax plus smaller size. However must be able to get 2 bikes in and two people. Prefer if it has sliding doors on the side too for ease of access. Problem is i only have a budget of about £1500. Been looking on auto trader and i quite like to look of the Peugeot Expert and the Citroen Dispatch but was wondering if anybody has any experience good or bad of them or could suggest another small van that would suit my needs and budget. Excitement! Just bought my first ever trials bike and have hired a Berlingo to go and pick it up. I've got an assortment of straps and ropes that I've accumulated over the years, along with dust sheets and old towels. Are there plenty of anchor points to which I can secure it? Is there any trick of experience that someone can pass on, or is it all pretty obvious? Many thanks

Was about to get my Transit tested at the MOT Garage, and he said it would fail on chassis rust within 12 inches of a structural part... And he knocked a hole in it, to prove his point.. I have had some body panels done before, but can you get the chassis parts as well.? They are a complex shape, so don't want to start making them out of sheet steel, .
