Nice to see Shirty has lost none of his self-publicity skills with his latest piece about Gas Gas riders in the Scott!!! Do we really need telling about all the riders on Gas Gas bikes and how they got on? Thank God that John Lampkin, Malc Rathmell, Caroline Sandiford and Nigel Birkett don't get on the site telling us how well their riders have done every bl**dy week... there'd be no room for Mike Rapley, Jake Miller, et al to put their columns on the site and tales about 160 riders littering the site!! Hiya everyone, I thought I would start here on this forum ( as I used to be a member about 3 years ago and always found the members to be very helpful). I am looking for some help in finding some dimensions of various trials bikes ( beta is my preference ). I no longer have a bike but when I did ride I thought the beta suited my riding style a little better than all the other makes I owned . For the last year I have been looking into the concept of making a electric trials bike ( like the oset baby bikes but full size ) I know others have converted production bikes to electric but the motors and battery's that are used are very heavy . Might I draw your attention to this https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/motorcycles-implementing-eu-regulation-1682013 , the relevant part being the application of type approval to trials motorcycles "used on the road". Those used purely in competition will be exempt. There seems to be a complete lack of understanding that the two are not mutually exclusive and that type approval for bikes used in road trials will apply. There are few enough of these events as it is but we don't want to see any, particularly the SSDT, disappear due to lack of suitable bikes. Hey guys This year is my first attempt at riding the Scott Trial. I have been busy training and getting the bike ready but I am still unsure about what gearing I should run?? I am currently running 9 - 43 which is lovely in the sections and nice and easy to ride but I am not sure it will be suitable for such an open course. I am thinking going up to a 10t on the front? What do people recommend? Additionally any further informations for a scott virgin would be beneficial? BTW i am number 30 so if you see my struggling give me a kick up the ass so I can get on with it. Thanks in advance Scott

Well guys what happens where you come from. This has happened at the last two trials i have attended and it's ruining the event and devalues the hard work people have put in laying a course. Also how do you encourage people to observe. Help needed in my centre or it's all going to fold. Tried to post a poll but failed so options are: 1. If there are only 5 observers they observe 5 sections then move onto the next 5 sections. 2. Riders observe each other. 3. More laps of less sections. 4. Only observed sections to count. 5. Refuse to start the trial till there are enough observers. 6. Ask riders to give up their ride. 7. Give up and go home. Also what do you do…

Has anybody got any idea when a riding list will be available for this. I have entered again this year and I am hoping that I will get a ride. It will be the first time I have ridden it, but hear that it's a superb event. One of the best of the year!

As a club organiser, we put on 5 trials a year and raise a decent sum in funds for the ACU. Ok, some goes in insurance but all of it dont. Like most clubs, The Chairman & myself dont take any expenses and I was thinking that as we provide a source of funds to the ACU that wouldnt otherwise be there if we didnt organise trials, it would be good if we got something back in return. I'm not asking for much and the yearly registration fee being paid would be rather nice I reckon for all senior officials of a club down to a certain level. What do other organisers think?

What does everybody think about Dan Thorpe's open letter to the ACU regarding no-stop etc ?

Sitting watching the sports personality of the year annual show and not one mention of the achievements of our ladies in trials on the world stage . Emma Bristow Ladies world champion and our ladies winning the Trials des Nations again .. ACU pull your finger out and raise the profile of our sport , as the governing body it falls as part of your mandate to promote and raise awareness of the sport of Trials and what better platform than this programme, let's see if the ACU can do better next year !!!!

Spoke to someone on Sunday who said that if you had been on the intermediate rating or are now you no long go back down to novice and you are expected to ride the hard/expert rule! Any more info or comments?

has anyone done any reasearch for the best prices for ferries to get to IOM for the trial yet. who offers best deals, wot cheapest times etc. how much does it cost for 2 people and a bike??? any help appreciated.

As a CofC I was wondering how to pitch the level of a trial in relation to its level of difficulty whereby everyone gets as much as possible out of the trial. I know you have A & B grade trials which dictate that but even they differ somewhat in their level of difficulty so I am after some customer feedback please I rode a Llanfyllin trial on saturday and there was very little in the way of anything too taxing on the route I rode (Novice) and it was a nice ride round. No injuries for a start and I really enjoyed it. Is this something that other people enjoy or would they prefer it harder? Age also has something to do with it I would suggest. Your thoughts on thi…

Jings!, I finally made it to a local trial......that's two in two weekends! I spotted Andy's car embedded in the mud in the car park (did you have to get a push out Andy?)....then spotted the man himself at section 1 awaiting the bikes. I took a few shots with my point and shoot.

Could n't ride the Richmond trial at Crackpot last sunday due to work, however noticed in the results on their website that there did n't appear to be the clubman class as usual. Any reason for this as this is normally a fantastic trial for the clubman.

Time for a rant. I feared the worse when I saw the East Midland Centre calendar for today. Our usual club volunteers were on national duty (Bemrose Trial) so I stepped into the breach to run our club trial. Guess how many riders turned up? Eleven, yes ELEVEN, so I had no option but to cancel the trial. No wonder really when you see the calendar. In the East Midland Centre today there were no less than FIVE CLUB TRIALS all of which were going to clash to a greater or lesser extent with each other.
