Hi all, new here. I have ridden trials on and off for 30 odd years. I am a a capable rider that rides clubman or 50/50. I have ridden my trusty 05 Scorpa SY250 since I got it new in 05 and I loved it. Recently I decided to treat myself to a new bike and I got an as new TXTR 250. I got it in a drier period a few weeks back (6) and instantly loved it. However, I have ridden it many times in trials and my results are disasterous to the point of being embarassing! I just spin it up and stop all the time. I have fitted a slow throttle which has helped but I am still crap on it. I am down to about 3pounds in the rear. I during the last lap at Stokenchurch on Sunday (mudd…

When I got my new TXT280, is wasn't a sweet experience. Here are my problems - Exhaust pipe was both dented and bended so the rear-wheel hit the exhaust. I got a new pipe, and had to change the mountings so it didn't hit the rear-wheel. - The water-cooler broke the first time I wanted to check the water level. A new one solved the problem. - Electrical wire joint were destroyed, because it was put so the rear-suspension hit it. It is now repaired and the joint is situated a more safe place. - I just discovered that the brake-pipe it also hitting the rear suspension! I is very hard, I don

Hi All, would appreciate some help. Sold my Gas Gas TXT Pro 03 250 last friday. Saturday the guy phones me and say the engine is dead. He sent me some pics of the cylinder head which has what looks like a melted hole in it, another pic of the piston which seems to have a piece of metal stuck to it and another pic of the cylinder inside which has a big gouge in it (I think from the metal that is stuck on the piston). The plastic water pump impeller thread is stripped. The old pump impeller had been replace a year before as the thread in that had stripped and coolant had entered the gearbox. The gearbox was flushed and refilled and the head was removed and the gasket seals…

Hi all. Well i'll get straight to the point. Out riding last weekend, the bike seemed to stall. Now im not sure if i stalled it, or it cut out. Either way, i went to kick it over to get it going again, as usual, a not to heavy kick usually gets it going. After it didnt start the first kick, i put it down to me not kicking it hard enough, however i kicked it again and again and nothing... Now to the confusing part.. I took it back to the shed, messed about with the earth wires a bit and kicked it over. It started first kick so i put it down to a connection coming lose. Thinking nothing of it, i took it out the following day. Got down to my local practice grounds (sha…

I swear this bloody bike is cursed! So, previously.. The ducati ignition had been causing me some hassle, eventually leading to me buying a complete Kokusan setup off a 2002 TXT. Now after a few issues with parcelforce, I finally got the new setup so like an excited child at christmas set to fitting it. It ran fine for about 20 minutes then started struggling at higher revs, so came back and fiddled. Now its weird.. Itll be hard to start, then refuse to run properly. Popping & banging, smoking and just wont rev. Also getting very hot very quickly! To me, its like ignition timing when it fails to advance/retard. But then start it up after…

In this video interview from Marc Colomer at the end they show some details of Jaime Busto factory bike. Here is an interesting one: That is one BIG spacer... Looks like extra weight too. Any idea what this is for?

What is it with gasgas! Why do they not fix there weak boxes! I was out on my 08 125 today and hopped up onto a fallen tree which was undercut by about 2 feet. So obvisioly you would hit the sump and rock of the other side. I was not hitting it hard at all and was being very carefull not to hit it harshly. In fact it barely felt it because the rear wheel had left the ground due to the technique used. So I rocked of in 1st gear and headed down hill and there is a loudish grinding noise but only in 1st gear it does not go with clutch in. But it's only when moving (anything more than standstill) I took it back and cleaned it and changed the gear oil and there was loads of …

Hi All, I'm guessing that I may already have the answer to this question, but just as a second opinion... I've had my 06 300 Raga for about 6 months all all was well up to the last few months. I noticed that when shutting off the throttle the engine seemed to make a pinking type knocking sound. I played around with the mixture settings, new spark plug and super unleaded without much success. Today, I've just noticed that when the bikes warm and pinking (only when the throttle is closed), if I put the choke back on, it seems to run better and without and noticable knock/pink. I would guess this is pointing to the jets in the carb being blocked? Strip down and blast …

Hi all, i have always had betas since 1998, basically im thinking of a change this year, i quite fancy a gasser but have always been of the opinion that they are a pile of ***** in the sense that if you buy one you nearly need to have as many spares for it. With the beta its virtually maintenance free but i feel its now becoming rather heavy and outdated compared to the like of the gassers, let me know what you all think cheers!

'03 200 Pro. No start. Stripped and cleaned carb. Trimmed back plug wire and reinstalled boot. Big FAT blue spark. Plug gets wet after a few kicks. New NGK BPR5EIX Removed flywheel/rotor...key intact, no slippage. Checked stator ground. Exhaust gummy, but not clogged. Checked reed cage (long shot)...no broken petals. Not even a POP. Nada. Zippo. Bupkis. Not even with ether. Fuel...air...spark...timing... Am I missing something? WTF. I swear, I'm getting ready to part this thing out.

How many of you have switched from Sherco to Gas Gas? What are your experiences? The reason I ask is that a friend let me ride his 300 Pro and it was great! The steering, motor and handling in general seemed perfect. Anything negative to look out for? Thanks!

Hi all, I'm new to the site, and to trials. I just bought an '02 TXT 280 (regular, not Pro). It appeared to be in good used condition, and well maintained (clean oil, clean filter, lubed pivots, etc). It started first kick whilst I was checking it out. Fast forward 2 weeks, and a lot of driveway and several more adventurous rides. I rode it on some trails/rocks for about 2 hours, and it seemed to be running OK, but was kind of hard to get started after stops on that ride--it really required a firm kick. The next day I pulled it out to ride again and it didn't want to start. I leaned the bars against the shed and started kicking away, and eventually it sputtered a bit an…

I'm at my wits end... any suggestions appreciated. I have an '04 TXT Pro 280. Took her to her first trial last weekend. The bike pops at idle so badly that she surges forward with each pop. Not helpful when trying to negotiate full lock turns. What I've done: -Cleaned all the jets and every hole in the carb with compressed air -Fiddled endlessly with the fuel screw (Dellorto VHST 26mm) -Cleaned and re-sealed the exhaust header gasket -Cleaned and re-sealed the intake -Checked the reeds -New plug -Put in fresh gas, clean filter, clean coolant -Repacked the silencer -Checked the jetting compared to suggested jetting Only thing I haven't done is clean out the mid…
