Hi Just bought a Cota 315R and according to the manual the mix should be 80:1. I think that is 80 parts of petrol (in UK liters) to 1 part of oil (it gives the oil in cm cubed). First I don't know how to work out what 1cm cubed is in plain English. Is it 1ml? Also my brain hurts when I try and work out how much 80 parts of 1 liter is! Is it 800ml? If this is correct , and I really doubt it is, then for every 800ml of petrol I should put 1ml of oil. So for a 5litre can of petrol I should put in 6.25ml right? Seems a bit on the weak side to me. My crosser has nearly double this. Guess I got my math wrong right? Can somebody correct me and explain to me how I work out…

Hello all, I have a 2007 4RT that is a little finicky when it comes to starting, it quite often needs a "reset" by holding the throttle wide open and a slow kick. What this reset does, exactly, I have no idea, but if I do it, the bike is guaranteed to start up on the next kick. I end up having to do the following at least every second time I start the bike: -kick -swear -kick again -sigh -hold WOT and kick slowly -kick and try to catch up on the loop trail and eat everyones dust It makes no difference if I stop the bike with the kill button, or if I stall it at part throttle or at idle. Idle is set high, play in the throttle. In the course of an event, then, th…

I'm currently looking at buying a new 4rt, never had a 4 stroke trials bike but had Honda mx bikes and they've always been well engineered! Is the repsol worth the extra money? I've been looking at new 2016 bikes but can get a 2015 repsol new for around £700 less than the 2016 so that's another option. I'm just getting back into riding but used to ride at just expert club and and centre level. Any advice appreciated.

After hearing a couple of other 315's today my '97 bike seems very loud indeed with a top end rattle. I suspect its going to need a new piston but when i looked at the base of the barrel instead of seeing A, B or C all I can see is O. So now I don't know what to do. Anybody come across this before? Pic attached of the barrel.

Does anyone have the top end big bore with 11 cc (299) ? Can I have feedback on the product? I m considering to put one in my 300rr. Would that put any harm on the bike? Note: it also has a titanium pipe. Thanks

I'm looking at a used Cota 315. Could anyone out there give me any advise on it's ride charachteristics/quirks? For instance; I think the GGs steer a little bit better than the Shercos, but the Shercos seem to be more reliable. Are there any traits good or bad that I should consider? Thanks

There seems to be loads of monts about these days but you never see hardly any experts riding them in trials , why is this are they just that little bit too heavy ?underpowered?not competetive ?correct me if I'm wrong but I think there's only Rob Warner that rides British championship occasionly apart from that they have no presence in the championship? ,you'd think one of the many UK dealers would get a decent lad on one to show what they are capable of

I was practicing on the above bike (which is fairly new to me) at the weekend. When going down long hills with the clutch out and brakes on, the rear wheel 'judders' as in jumps up and down during the decent. On closer inspection, when I compress the rear suspension and release it, there is no rebound damping. It clonks as it hits the top stop. This bike is in good mechanical condition with little or no free play in the swing arm or rear suspension. I'm assuming I can adjust the rear shock to stop this. What are the guidelines for adjusting the spring tension and dampening and rebound settings on my bike? I weigh 'just over' 100Kg (with my clothes on).…

Hi. I've spent quite some time looking through the various different forums but thought it was about time I put something up myself. I decided to buy a little twinshock project a few months ago with the intention of being able to ride it in beginers/easy trials. I managed to pick up this Montesa 247 which I'm hoping to tidy up and get it in a nice ridable state, once in this state I will then maybe look at the cosmetic side of things. I have a couple of questions and thought this would be the best place to ask. I was windering if anybody had an idea on what year it is (I have read it can be quite difficult to date the old monts?) I was told it was a 1973 or 1974 does …

Hi guys! I've recently assembled my new Montesa 4rt 260 2014 at home in Russia. In base it has road exhaust pipe, i guess, with the catalyst inside and narrow end of the pipe. Now i have not replaced it with a wide pipe (it is in the package) yet, and it seems that the engine revs up a bit slow and achieves seems about 3500-4000 rpm with open throttle on N gear. I guess this engine should up to 10 000 rpm. That's why the bike rides a bit gently. What should i do if i need make the engine spins better? May be it is related with electrical issues? And I've mounted a sport front light instead of road one. Where can i get a 12V connector? Sorry for my english in advance:…

Hi All Really quick question hopefully as I have to get my swingarm etc back on tonight if I can ready for the weekend. When I took the bearing seals out of the dogbone they all had the flat sides inwards ie next to the bearing and the lip/ open side facing out... I had to take the swingarm to have the linkage bearings cut out as they were totally collapsed and rusted in (there was nothing much left of the seals on the swingarm so I dont know which way around they were), now when I got the swingarm back (from an engineering place) the seals have been put flats out, I asked and he says thats how they are supposed to go. A little worried now as Ive put the seals back in …

Hi All, I have a 2006 4RT and love the bike and have great fun on it. I was at a trial this weekend and some one took a few photos of me on the bike and when just riding off a section it looks like I have flattened the bike. I am 6ft 1" and weigh in at a hefty 105kgs, reading through some of the threads on here it would suggest the bike would be set up for around 75 - 85 kgs from the factory. Now I am a beginner so having the best suspension I am sure will not actually make me ride any better but looking at the attached photo it may make the bike look better under my load. I have not noticed it bottoming out but then I only really ride the beginners route so no majo…

Sorry i didnt post this yesterday. Saw the new 4RT at the Dirt Bike show on sunday. What a poor effort by Montesa!!!! They havent finished the bike - its like a half effort... See the Gas Gas's - all nicely co-ordinated red and black - look fab IMHO. Someones spent time getting it right. Then see the half baked 4RT... they must have spent 2 mins thinking it through... "lets paint the frame shiny black... then do f**k all else to blend the frame in".. jeez what an ugly bike. "lets not bother with forks, fork clamps, engine cover, brake protector, exhaust shield, air box and exhaust cover.... or even the handlebars for that matter... lets leave them all standard" "b…

I own a 4rt which I bought brand new in Febuary, I seem to have nearly reach the end of adjustment on the snail cam adjusters which keep the chain tension correct, not sure why this is as there is still a fair amount of slot left behind the rear spindle for further adjustment but the snail cams will only take another couple of clicks before they are at full adjustment, the bike is completely standard with standard spockets and came with the snail cams adjusted more than half way when new, do montesa fit over long chains (Regina chains) do I need to get some larger snail cams so as to be able to move the rear wheel further back in the spindle slot as it does still have aro…
