Twinshock

Are these two types of bike increadably rare? I've read the Wassell was made in Birmingham and the Dalesman in Otley but the Wassell & later model of Dalesman both had a Sach 124cc engine plus a 6 speed box and both look pretty similar if not identical from photos I've seen on the internet. Were they basically the same bike ? Over the past couple of years I been dreaming of one day coming across one for sale so if anyone could point me in the direction of one, it'd be much appreciated. thanks

Ive been searching for ages for spares like mudguards and any info etc for my jcm I dont even know what model it is there is nothing on the web. Its a 240 or 250 monoshock with drums front and rear. Its currently in bits but i would like to restore it to original if possible. Id be gratefull for any help Thanks!

Well, I guess I should have my head examined but I just purchased a 83' Italjet 350T Piuma. The bike was left back here in the States after a world round. It is complete with the scrutineers marks on both hubs, engine and steering head. The paint dabs are scribed with the number 26 (Rider No, 26). I need a few bits and larger pieces to bring it back to being respectable. The mud guards, white tank, side stand and factory kick lever. During the round, the rider broke the kicker shaft as everone is well aware was a huge problem with these bikes. The shaft has been replaced which is a mirical in itself thanks for a doner Italjet being parted out on ...."the bay." So …

Hi All Hope I can pick some brains on here. I've just finished rebuilding an '83 MH349 and am now in the process of "shaking it down" in preparation for my glittering career in twinshock trials (maybe). I come from a motocross / enduro background and have no experience of trials bikes, but one thing I've noticed is the bike is really noisy. I don't have access to a DB meter, but I'd reckon it's as noisy as a loud 2 stroke motocrosser. It's got a brand new WES tail pipe from InMotion on it, mated to the original front pipe. Hi After reading so much on this subject am I correct in thinking if I was to run my 1980 349 on one of the following popular full & semi Synthetics I would be ball park ok? Castrol Power 1 full synthetic at 50: 1 Castrol A747 semi synthetic (with Castor) at 40:1 My preference would be to go semi for the standing time protection it has over a full Synthetic on internals but am I reading into things to much? Anyone ran either of the above long term and would like to give the benefit of their experiences? Advice please Thanks

Almost done its taken ages due to things out of my control, just waiting for a rear silencer to finish it, dont know whether to keep it or sell it would be a shame to get it dirty after all the work thats been done.

I was riding my TLR 200 over a practice stage today for about an hour and everything was running fine as normal - although at the beginning of my ride the clutch felt to be slightly slipping and so I backed off the cable adjustment and all was good. Eventually I stopped for a rest - maybe 10 minutes and when I went back she started first kick as usual but a terrible rattle coming from the clutch side - sounding like around the starter area but not sure. I immediately switched off and trailered the bike home and removed the clutch cover - this is what I found however I can't see where the problems is. I have led a sheltered life, in my sporadic trials carrer spaning close to 5 decades now i have only experience with a few engines. BSAs bantam cota 123 and ty250B s oh and a ty80 Now recently considering an engine swap then deciding against it, i got to thinking did the members of this forum have any particular engine type or capacity that they would chose for their ulltimate air cooled twin shock project. What engine what capacity and why exactly detailing what it is about its power delivery torque respone etc etc you like so much about this particular engine.

I am considering a twinshock bike and have it narrowed down to a TY or a KT-250. The reason for these two is availability. I figure parts will be hard enough to get so that is a concern. What positives and negatives should I be aware of for these two bikes?

Hi all, getting all a bit muddled. Looking to get into trials after many year being a road biker. Started off thinking twinshock then something newer, after seeing what you get for your money!!! After going to a local trial near Ipswich i am thinking twinshock. I have been getting advice here and there. My dilema which is a common one is which bike! I know of at least 3 short stroke works Honda still around (Mick Grants included), but does anybody know if any long stroke works Honda are still in existance?

I see the new ACU rules for class 8 and 11 require that the twinshock suspension be "as fitted at time of manufacture". No more canting forward of suspension units then?

Can any one please tell me the differences between the Cota model 348 & 349. Was the engine basically the same, what was the actual capacity of each one. I seem to recall the drive chain was on different sides but then again I may be thinking of a different model Montesa altogether. Did they have electronic ignition, timeline of production, the good the bad and the b awful that sort of thing. atb TRF

Had a fuel leak from my filter on Sunday, figured it wasn't a problem I'd just bypass it ... except that the filter has been doing a lot of filtering, and I could see all the rust going down to the carb after putting a new clear hose on (fortunately didn't try to start the bike, so I don't need to rebuild the carb!) So ... what's the best way to clear out the worst of the rot from a steel tank? I just want it to be ok through this summer really, not worried about a permanent fix. So far the suggestions are lead shot, vinegar, or just swill it out with fuel.

Hi All Newbee here looking some advice for a KT250 resto project I just started. Going to try my hand at riding trials next spring and preping a bike to learn on. I would like to do a complete resto, as best as possible within reason, since I do want to ride the bike. It looks pretty complete but have already seen parts that dont match the Parts Manual I bought. Are there any KT250 folks here? Current parts I know I need to source are - Seat - Carb,air box boot - Sprockets and Chain Would ike to add a compression release, since head is drilled for it already, anyone do this?
