Plenty of people doing their Charity bit before and during the SSDT and for anyone that is not aware this is form the SSDT website Please Give Your Support The 3 ''Goons'' that were debating and answering questions last night all agreed that the Troops must continue in Afghanistan and this Charity needs supporting so ''Dig Deep'' and give generously **Note** Not the easiest place to get money from as the town Is full of ''Scotsmen'' and ''Yorkshiremen''..........................and Big John always has a habit of leaving his wallet at home the first week in May

My and my kid are driving up to Fort W from Mallorca for the SSDT. His first visit at all, my first visit in 30 years...(Where did THEY go?) We're vanning the bikes up there so we don't have to stop ANYWHERE in France. (Maybe that's just me.) Question: what's the situation re: B&Bs etc? Will we have trouble getting someplace to stay in the vicinity? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks all in advance. Norman

Does anyone know how the new dinner stop arrangement works. It says in the entry paper work that lunch is included. Is it still the burger van? Or are we all off to the local hostelry for a pub lunch

Im taking my wife up to Ft William to watch some of this years event. However, shes a bit unsteady (has MS) so ideally need to know if she will be allowed to take a fold up chair to sit and watch? Anyone know if this will be ok? Cheers all.

Planning this year’s trip to the Scottish and looks like I am going to have to bring the dog. I’m pretty sure there’s a couple of groups that are no dogs allowed (Fersit?) but wanted to know if the majority of spectator groups are dog on a lead friendly? Thanks Dave

I saw her throughout the week and I have to give credit to this lass for winning the Ladies trophy. She beat the reigning Ladies World Champion - Iris Kramer and also Maria Conway. Donna's a tiny wee lass who you'd never think could hike a bike round the Scottish for six days, but she did. Not only that, but she was always cheerful and had time for a laugh and a bit of banter. She does, however, need some work on her press presentation

I was watching the Nevis Radio parc ferme footage this morning on-line. Doug Lampkin appeared to have a massive rucksack, I also didn't see Harry Lampkin in the start queue, so I guess there are 3 possibilities: Harry is not riding, so Doug is carrying extra spares Harry is stowed away in Doug's rucksack Doug is attempting all six days unsupported so has set off with all his food & provisions on day one @andy I hope you are on the case, we need a photo inside that rucksack before the week is out!

Dougie's comeback ride has obviously been one of many highlights of this year's event, but I was wondering does anybody know what was the problem with Dougie's bike on Monday that caused such a loss of time ? - saw a vid on youtube of him trying to kick it into life, then wheeling it away, Then what happened ? presumably he carries a spare plug, wonder how it was fixed, whatever it was.

It has been an 'easy' winter this year, wet and miserable rather than freezing hard - so the midges are out and about already this year. There are dozens of very expensive anti-midge sprays, etc... but they don't always meet their advertised claims. However, if you are prepared - there is another way to ward the little buggers off. Boots the chemist sell cheap bottles of their own 'Eau de Colgne' - not the fancy 4711-type stuff, just the big old cheap bottle of their own concoction - but splash a little in the palm of your hand and just rub it in any exposed bits of skin and most people will be midge-free all day - and there is a Boots in Fort William! Our last…

Good friend and local club rider Duncan Mitchell has put his TYZ up for sale. Now riding a Scorpa, Duncan has decided not to enter the old TYZ in the SSDT again. This in may ways is a sad loss as he has ridden 10 or 11 SSDTs on this bike with little other than routine maintance being required. It wasn't a SSDT special either. He rode Scottish national and all the club rounds on the bike too. Is this some sort of record or has someone done more on one bike? Where's Big John when you need him.

In the last copy of YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE it mentioned visiting www.dunlopmotorcycle.co.uk to register your riding number for discounted tyres during the week. Tried looking there but ended up at a domain registration site. Anyone have any idea who to contact?

For those of you who know me and for those of you who don't I have competed in the SSDT.........24 times??? Did I put my entry in for 2008........................No however I did fill it out twice it was touch and go whether I should ride again Over the last few years I have been thinking, maybe I should call it a day, yes I am getting older and find each year tougher (not as tough as the 90's), but there were several other reasons for me not entering. Now I know some of you like reading stories so I will tell you a bit about my 24 years!! Back in 1983 I had just finised my basic training for Her Majestys Armed Forces, being quite a competent skier I got posted to on…
