Hello The Beta Evo 200 was much appreciated by older riders, who wanted a softer, less aggressive power delivery. Can anyone enlighten me as to when Beta ruined the Beta Evo 200cc by lightening the flywheel, raising the compression ratio and other "improvements" which have spoilt the soft, mild, tractable nature of the engine, making grip elusive in difficult conditions, even for experienced riders? The 2020 models still had the above "improvements". Do the 2021 and/or 2022 models also suffer? Thanks

I am pulling apart a 2006 Rev 3 270 to replace the kick starter mechanism. I was worried about the casing water pump corrosion. Well worry no more, it is eaten up pretty badly, so I ordered a new one. I was curious if someone mixed anti-freeze types as there is also a white gel that was hardened around the water pump impeller clip. Anyway, thought I would share the pics of what I found. Here is the inside of the water pump cover, the coolant had apparently been drained a while back, the bike had sat since 2009 or so and it was given to me, so I can't really complain at the price. The casing is pretty nasty as well The water jacket looks ok, not m…

I DNF'd a trial this morning because of a water leak on my 250. There was a pin hole completely THROUGH the left sidecase - I thought it was a bad casting but upon removal of the water pump cover I saw lots of corrosion to the sidecase in the water pump channels... several holes that are almost through and lots of corrosion to the area around the pump shaft seal. Now I'm pretty sure the coolant has contaminated the gearbox oil too - it looks cloudy. Does anyone have experience with this type of corrosion? I'm running Silkolene ProCool. Do you think a previous owner ran something that boiled or cavitated? It looks like I'm out a sidecase, clutch fibre plates, as well…

Is it worth the extra money for an '08? I there any difference besides the carb and plastics? It may be worth it for resale value alone. Anyone out there who's had both I'd like to hear from you. Or should I buy a an '06 Sherco at half the price? I don't have long to decide. Thanks, Neil King

Hope someone can help, new to this trials thing, but already enjoying it! Problem is that my 2004 model 270 died on me today after falling off. I tried to start it but no joy, after lots of kicking, i took the plug out , yep very wet. I carried out this routine several times (and i mean serveral times!) , i was getting a spark , so why shouldnt it start? Finally it did start but coughed and splutterd and banged and shot fire out of the exhaust! It then died again. When i got home i took out the plug, but couldnt get it to spark, have i done some serious damage? Any help very much appreciated, i'm off for a beer now and a then lie down

Just out of curiosity how long has Beta been producing that Old 2T motor for now? Was it in the Beta Zero that it was first fitted? Best of balance. Neo

I've just acquired an'03 Rev3 250 and am interested to know what fuel mix ratio other owners use.I've been told different things by two very reputable dealers. One says use fully synthetic oil at 50:1 and the other says semi-synthetic at 70:1. All input welcome Thanks.

Hi, I know its like asking "What's the best flavour ice cream" But is the 300 evo soft or not? I am an average rider , getting on in age , and always sing the virtues of 200 Betas, but they are like hens teeth... Loads of good looking 300's around , for reasonable money... But are they too fiery ?? Owner replies please.

My clutch has started slipping badly in higher gears and been advised to replace the plates. Before doing this does anyone have any ideas what else may be the cause.

I dont know if this has been covered before, apologies if it has. Just after I started the Bemrose trial at the weekend I started losing gearbox oil somewhere from the clutch cover side of the engine. I didnt lose enough to stop me finishing the trial but it was a bit concerning from a 2005 bike. I havent had chance to look at it yet, is there anything obvious I should know about before I strip it down. Thanks.

I have an 08 Beta Rev3 250 with poor throttle response. (much much softer than a well worn GG200) I have tried all sorts of things and someone on here suggested that there could be an issue with the ignition advance curve. I ran a timing light and got 15 degress BTDC at idle and reved up got 20 degrees. This seems like too much advance at idle and I believe 5 degrees of additional advance is a byproduct of the circuit and not a planned advance curve. For comparison, I once did this on a 97 techno and got 6 degrees at idle, 20 at mid range and 25 to 30 at full scream. I can't find a specification for this anywhere. Does anyone know what it should be? I'm wondering…

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and fairly new to trials. I just finished riding in Dave Rhodes Outlaw trial in Kamloops B.C. (Junior) and my 04 Beta just died. We checked all the obvious things ie gas, kill switch, put in a new plug but there is still no spark at the plug. From the other forum topics it sounds like there are some electrical issues that can crop up. I have some limited mechanical skills, how do you check the CDI unit? Can it be checked with a multimeter and if so what values are normal? How do you check the stator? Anybody else have any ideas? Thanks for any input

Anyone splashed the cash on one of these works/handmade looking Ti front pipes yet? Looks like a nice bit of kit. As well as lightening my wallet, is it much lighter than the standard item? http://www.betamotor.com/en/factory_parts/show/1?part=81

Can someone shed some light as to what the references actually mean on spark plugs. I have got a Champion N7YCC in my Rev 3 currently but got a new spare plug which is a NGK BP5ES that I was going to put in at some point. What is best suited for the bike and is there a big difference between them, really?
