customer bike --2000 beta rev 3 -- good spark -good compression -clean carb -- ignition timing seems WAY off --like 90 degrees after tdc when i check with a timing light -- any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Looking at the Evo manual, there are 3 special tools required to get the crankshaft out; primary gear puller, motor shaft puller and special primary tool. The two pullers look not to difficult to make but the special primary tool would be a big challenge. Are these tools really needed or would other methods work? Is that special tool steel?

Hi there. I’m pretty new to trials so this might be a silly question. After transporting the bike, at startup the bike revs uncontrollably for about 15 seconds and then sorts itself out. I make sure the fuel tap is OFF before transporting. What could be causing this? Thanks

Hi, My son has a new 2006 50cc mini trial and it wont idle properly. When riding, it idles high, but after 15~20 seconds it will idle right down then stop. * Have re-cleaned the carb with compressed air * Checked the inlet manifold for leaks. Checked bolts. * Confirmed that slide closes and opens fully and that steering movement does not interfere. * Needle and seat looks new (as it should). The fuel tap runs freely, but have noticed that fuel line constantly has a long air bubble inside it after the bike has ran for a few minutes (fuel pipe is clear tubing). I don't know why. Stalling problem interferes with his riding as we noticed it always does it when he …

My boys Beta 80 keeps killing spark plugs and I'd like a little help with it please. Most of the time they only last a few hours then you have to fit a new one. When you take an knackered one out it is black with oil not brown and dry like I think it should be. You can clean it up till it's spotless but it will never start the bike, does spark against the frame though. It's had a new fuel filter, air filter, carb stripped and cleaned and setup but nothing changes, I must be missing something. I've been using around 70ml of Ipone strawberry 2 stroke to 5 litres of normal unleaded. We've been lucky so far that it hasn't left us stranded but it has nearly ruin…

Whats the trick to get the bearings out of the wheels? I took the rear wheel off and tried to get the bearings outbut no go. I see there is a inner spacer that has a bit of a lip on it. I attempted to tap on it to push the far side bearing out but the spacer is really soft and the metal started to smear so I stopped. I ended up pulling the dust cover off the bearings and cleaning them the best I could (the grease in there was really dried out) and packing fresh grease in. That did help a lot with the wheel spinning a lot freer but I'd really like to put fresh bearings in both the front and rear. The outer spacers on the rear where a bugger to get out so I'm thinki…

  11. went on a really nice mountain trail ride with many guys today... Saw some guys with the 2008 rev3 270 and both sounded really crisp when acelerating compared to mine 2006 rev 3 2006 with this mikuni carb . Took 1 of these bikes for 2 minutes and felt the difference with mine... wayyyyy betterrrrrrrr thsn mine... more power down low and really clean crisp acceleration.... could not believe how nice this bike worked compared to mine... My bike feels with some detonations and weird kinda slow when i turn the throttle.. my carb is cleaned, and totally OEM settings.. I asked them and they said they DID NOT PERFORM ANY MODS TO THEIR CARBS !! im temted to get a keihin fo…

I see the new Betas use the outer ignition case as the stator support. Over the years I have broken (and seen other riders break) ignition cases on many makes of bike. I have also see road bikes with this arrangement dropped at very low speed or even stationary and major damage to the stator (and in many cases rotor) has resulted. This design may be good to centralise mass for WTC "flickability" but as a clubman who rides in rocks and has to pay for his own parts I would steer well clear of bikes with this stator layout. Afternarket opportunity for someone to produce a thick cushioned guard?

My bike is pinging pretty badly when it gets hot - trying to figure it out... I run 108 / 93 octane mix and 80:1 oil. Its got 145 main and 27.5 pilot jets and I'm running the jet needle one clip richer (second from the bottom). Its got an NGK BP5ES plug in it - is this the plug most Beta owners are running? Is there a stator plate with slotted holes on the Rev3 250 / 270 to allow small changes to timing? Any ideas?

I have just renewed the pistons and seals in the rear calliper of my Evo 250. Unfortunately I damaged one of the seals as I was putting it together. Is there a source for seals only as it seems a shame to spend another 30 odd quid when all I need is one seal?

Has anyone been having problems with the front fenders breaking on the 05 betas? We have gone through several in just a short time. I broke the front off mine, moved it back & refastened it. Broke it again 2 more times this way. Two times it broke going off a drop. I think the plastic is faulty, because this is my fourth rev3, and never broke a front fender before.

Hello, few questions... Firstly, does anyone know where to get a front mudguard extension/flap from. So, to help stop mud flinging up into the frame and rad. I saw one on a bike Sunday but didn't get chance to ask where it came from. Scoured usual places online but can't find owt. Secondly, do people silicone seal around the exhaust can end caps to stop it weeping black gunk or is it best to let it ooze out and clean it up? Lastly, does anyone know what weight oil comes as standard in the forks? I want to make them a bit more bouncy to help him pop the front up, he's always run his bikes like that but if it's already 5 weight in there I'll have to shop ar…

Good evening all, I have a 2019 Beta Evo and i am having a problem with an intermittent fan. After about 5 minutes of running. the fan kicks in for a while then cuts out again, then it doesn't come on again and eventually coolant starts spitting out of the overflow . On a couple of occasions, i have noticed when i sit there revving the bike, the fan blade moves slightly a few times like its trying to start and then a couple of times it has eventually kicked into life, like the vibration from the enginGe has jogged it into working, but then it will stop again shortly and then eventually spit out coolant again. The fan is working fine when i bridge the connector …

I have got a beta rev3 200 '03 It seems to make a banging noise when it is running at medium revs but not pulling and it sometimes does it when i shut off. I thought it might be coming from the exhaust somewhere but i'm not so sure now. Sometimes it doesn't do it so it is hard to track down. I ride with a guy who has a scorpa and his does it abit aswell. I thought it could be the ingnition timing. Does anybody else have a bike that does this?
