Hi, I have a GasGas TXT Pro 125 and I am wanting more power. I am 15 so I have to stick to the 125 to ride in trials. We will be putting a new piston in it and I was wondering what we could do to get more power. thanks, Sam

Hi everyone. This is my 1st post here and I'm new to the trials world so hello. I have been riding MX and enduro for a good few years an now fancy a go at trials, hopefully it will be a little more relaxed and friendly scene, certainly than MX is. Anyway I have just bought this little darling for the princely sum of 370 great british pounds. Little rough around the edges but it's all there to get me started hopefully. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=160810939073 My question is, it's says in the add it's 175cc Gas Gas contact, I have tried to do a little research into this model but can't find much info? Are these bikes any good? Any common faults or th…

Re: Paioli 38mm RSD forks (GasGas 1995-2001, Beta 2006-2010, Sherco 1997-2009) not Marzocchi 40mm Jim Snell and Bill de Garis both recommend 280cc 5W on the Right (Rebound) fork leg and 330cc 7.5W on the Left (Spring) fork leg. On this forum there's an opinion that the damper rod orifice are so large that changing the oil viscosity on the Left leg doesn't make much of a difference in compression dampening, but the air gap does affect the last 1/3 of the stroke. With this observation the opinion is oil in the Left leg at most helps lubricate, but doesn't have much on an impact on dampening. On another site: The Hell Team recommends Oil Quantity Right leg: 370ml 5W (+…

There are lots of different views on what gearing people use on the Pro trials bike,im talking common bike,250,280 and 300,not 125 and 200s. One view is to use a 10 tooth on the front rather than the standard 11 to slow down over all speed in the section...........................BUT as reducing the size of the front sprocket increases acceleration does this mean the bike is more likely to spin up easier??? Just thought i would start a pole to see peoples views and to give others some insight?? Cheers Benz

Has GasGas ownership just become the least value for money in the market. All the talk now is how people aren't spending the way they once were, Brexit affecting bike sales, stability of the pound etc etc and add into the mix a six month old racing only worth approximately half its new price because the importer has flooded the market with unsold stock ; but still wanting you to pay £6399 for this years upgrade. How does that work other than the obvious fact that buying GasGas is now £1000 dearer than other brands. So just when loyal customers wish to upgrade due to new model release they have to suck up the deficit, sounds fair enough in the ruthless world of moder…

I just wanted to check the oil / fuel mixture my fellow members here are using. Also does any found any oil brand that you are more pleased with than other oil brands? I have a 2006 Gas Gas TXT 250 Pro, 2005 Gas Gas TXT 125 Pro and i use 2% oil / fuel mixture. In the owners manual for the 2006 TXT 250 Pro it says 2% oil mixture I can not find the owners manual for the 2005 TXT 125 Pro but i found the 2004 owners manual for the TXT 125 Pro and the 2004 owners manual says 1,5% oil mixture. Any here knows if it is 1,5% or 2% for the 2005 TXT 125 Pro? The oil i am using now is Motul 2T, 710, 2 stroke oil 100% synthetic I have never used Motu…

I am looking at getting my first trials and plan to go and look at a GasGas 280txt and 270txt over the weekend. The latter has been rebuilt and is a 1999 example which seems very straight. The former is a 2002 model and again seems very clean. Similar money, so is there really a better option of the two or would the forum consider them much of a muchness. Thanks

Hello, This appears to be a common thread on these bikes - as in they can be hard to start. My '09 250 TXT Pro just depresses me to be honest, it's getting to the point where I choose not got use it as it will play up at some point by not starting. I've a KTM 200 Enduro bike and that's a dream to boot over in comparison! The GG has got a 36D needle on the 3rd clip position from the top, a 118 main, a 33 idle and a 70 starting jet (I've tried a 90 in there with no success). Mixture screw is about 3 turns out from fully closed. It does tend to start eventually with the choke on, but it's not exactly a first kick even in that scenario. The plug when we pulled it during i…

Hi all. Well i'll get straight to the point. Out riding last weekend, the bike seemed to stall. Now im not sure if i stalled it, or it cut out. Either way, i went to kick it over to get it going again, as usual, a not to heavy kick usually gets it going. After it didnt start the first kick, i put it down to me not kicking it hard enough, however i kicked it again and again and nothing... Now to the confusing part.. I took it back to the shed, messed about with the earth wires a bit and kicked it over. It started first kick so i put it down to a connection coming lose. Thinking nothing of it, i took it out the following day. Got down to my local practice grounds (sha…

Hi all, I'm new to the site, and to trials. I just bought an '02 TXT 280 (regular, not Pro). It appeared to be in good used condition, and well maintained (clean oil, clean filter, lubed pivots, etc). It started first kick whilst I was checking it out. Fast forward 2 weeks, and a lot of driveway and several more adventurous rides. I rode it on some trails/rocks for about 2 hours, and it seemed to be running OK, but was kind of hard to get started after stops on that ride--it really required a firm kick. The next day I pulled it out to ride again and it didn't want to start. I leaned the bars against the shed and started kicking away, and eventually it sputtered a bit an…

Hi All, I'm thinking of buying a new 2011 gas gas and can't make up my mind which one to go for, 280 or 300. I liked the power of my 09 evo 290 and 2011 sherco 290 and didn't find them a handfull at all so i'm not interested in the 250, i like bigger cc bikes generally. I don't know why gas gas make 2 x bikes with the cc so close, (280 & 300). Has anybody riden / owned both and what are the plus & minuses about both bikes?? Any info greatfully received. Thanks.

I have a TXT Pro 2004 that I am rebuilding, just need to get the electrics sorted out but I am not 100% sure If I have everything and how it is wired and where eg the CDI unit fixes to the frame, can anyone help by posting a photo of what is under the tank? I have found some wiring diagrams on the net but dont know what is correct, and the parts list / diagram from GasGas does not show where bits go, I can post a photo or list what I have if that helps! Thanks

Hi All, I'm guessing that I may already have the answer to this question, but just as a second opinion... I've had my 06 300 Raga for about 6 months all all was well up to the last few months. I noticed that when shutting off the throttle the engine seemed to make a pinking type knocking sound. I played around with the mixture settings, new spark plug and super unleaded without much success. Today, I've just noticed that when the bikes warm and pinking (only when the throttle is closed), if I put the choke back on, it seems to run better and without and noticable knock/pink. I would guess this is pointing to the jets in the carb being blocked? Strip down and blast …

Hi. I've purchased a gas gas 250 txt pro 2004. Basically I've heard so many different types of oil that can be used. People are saying, 10w40, 5w30, ATF Dex2 or Dex3. Also I've heard don't use any synthetic based oil, I've checked my manual and it says to use 10w40. So i called my nearest trials garage and the recommend synthetic oil. I'd like an answer to my confusion please. I've bought ATF Dextron2. Thankyou ben.
