I'm back after a long hiatus just couldn't keep away from the throttle, my last bike was a 2002 Sherco 2.9 I had an opportunity to purchase a Montesa Cota 247 COMPLETELY rebuilt New everything. New main bearings, rebored, new piston, new rings, chains, It has only been run for about 30 minutes after the rebuild. The owner is unsure of the year at this point it has been sitting a good number of years, my main question is about the break in period I have no idea on this bike Also any help of mixing ratio's , Crankcase oil, or other valuable information would be greatly appreciated I should have it in a couple weeks and I'll look for numbers on the frame…

hy all just purchased a twin throttle body with switch but totally stuck where do i plug the switch in so i can swap from one map to other and how do i put 2 maps on it looks complicated i dont no where to start , cheers ste

I have now had two long practice sessions at our trials park since fitting the CLAKE to my 06 Repsol. This Ozzie developed combined clutch and rear brake unit is a real eye opener. I found by the second session I was cleaning sections that I had not been able to when the bike was set up conventionally. Found it totally natural and have not once gone for the missing brake pedal!! The biggest surprise has been the ability to lock the rear wheel even on the flat and concrete surface with only reasonable pressure from the one finger and the clutch remains as light as normal. Hello everyone. In the welcome area I was helped greatly with my decision to buy this bike - thank you. I am super happy with it and am thrilled to begin this trials journey. I took the bike out for a proper run for the first time today down the local byways and across a private estate, it rides brilliantly and I am amazed with how capable it is! As per title really. Was riding on Sunday when I realised that I haven't seen or heard anything about a new 'use the word new loosely' Mont for 2010. Is there one? Have I missed some huge news? Or are they just late releasing it? Shouldn't be the latter, how can you be late when all need to do is decide 'what colour to paint a 5 year old bike'

Purchased a 79 Cota 359 as a Xmas present to myself ,missed out on a TL200 recently and stole the Monty off a guy that said it didn't run and parts were a mare....really. Had it running the same afternoon and found parts weren't an issue,motor has great compression and strong spark and runs well after not running for 15yrs . Is there a thread already? If not, let's start one. This is my newly bought 2005 Montesa. And my first trial too. Since I'm in to photagrophy I couldn't resist take it outside one morning and take some poser shots. Great bike, lovely sound and power easy to handle.

I'm contemplating buying a 4RT or Repsol, having only ever ridden a 2 stroke. I keep reading comments about how they ride differently, how people shouldn't ride them like a 2T. I understand that they are heavier, but other than that what is the difference between say a TRS and a Repsol when riding a section. My level of skill is pretty low, I'd normally ride one up from the easiest route at a club trial. I also much prefer messing around at a practice ground to competing. So no need for they don't hop better on the back wheel thanks! I'm also not able to get a test ride on one sadly. Really interested in understanding how they differ.

Hi all, I have tasked myself with getting my dad's old Montesa Cota 247 running and riding again. The bike was bought years ago and spent most of it's time in his shed collecting dust. I dragged it out a few years ago and kicked it over, kicks over fine but would not start. I put it back with a promise to try get it going again. So that day came today, got it back out. Both tyres are flat and it needs some work. We are going to try get her running and riding again and then strip it down and make it look like new This is the bike in current form So checked the oil, looks OK, kicked it over a few times and everything seems to be free. I'm thinking of getting a new Montesa. I've read on here that you can just ride them, wash them, then ride them some more and occasionally change the oil and filter. Top build quality. Top reliability. Then I also read on here a list of various problems. They need guards to stop excess dirt getting in the air box. They need a better sump guard. Frames cracking near the foot rest hangers. The angle sensor failing. Problems with the cam chain tensioner. The side stand is rubbish. Starting issues. So are they really built that much better than other bikes?

Hi all, Newbie to the forum (and trials bikes!) - I am looking for some advice please im in my forties, motorcycling for years but never ridden a trials bike. Although I've been interested in them since watching kickstart I've never made a purchase. I'm considering a weight reduction program on my 315r. It would be super to see photos of the things that were done. I did get a chance to look close at Dougies bike at Duluth but like a dummy didn't take any pictures. Martin... if your out there - is there anything you can share now, like the actual final weight and some comments perhaps? Was riding last weekend without any issues then in the afternoon bike refused to start hadnt dropped the bike or hit anything hard bike ran fine all morning fresh fuel did the throttle reset still nothing so went home got home to clean bike & it started but the died after a couple of minutes so new plug no luck plugs not exactly wet but smells of fuel so hoping not fuel related does this sound right? no spark so will check all connectors for anything obvious however cant for the life of me remove the 2 bolts on the fuel injector to allow me to remove the tank do I definitely need to remove the injector first? will remo…
