Just thought I'd start a separate thread about the soon to be shown Cota RR. Is this going to be The New bike everyone has been waiting for? Or a special limited edition 4rt. Normally something with RR tagged to the name, is pretty trick, so maybe a very limited special bike for top riders to ride in national and world rounds.

Hi, I recently got a 315 mont, bike seems really good starts well hot or cold, plenty of power etc but it sounds a bit crappy on idle, like its running out of petrol which it isnt. I have cleaned the card properly using carb cleaner and an air line a couple of times. The air filter is fine, like new and properly oiled, its got the correct plug with the correct gap so all the "usual" suspects are fine when checking for this sort of problem now im a stuck. What else can i do to try and solve this problem? Cheers.

right here goes!..... ive had numerous starting issues with this bike now I have another. Bike would not start at the weekend. (again!) After much investigation and testing listed below the bike will only run if the bike is kicked once to prime the injector and then the tank pump disconnected...it will then start (after two kicks) and run for a few seconds on the fuel sat in the injector. If I re-connect the pump it floods and its just a wet plug...not even a hint of starting? if I connect the pump whilst its running the engine dies. all electrical tests as per manual ok. 12v output at the plug under tank. good earths at yellow plug and to and from the ECU. new…

Help please , I was riding in a trial today and whilst in a section my 4rt just cut out, I couldn’t get it to restart, did the usual reset but no joy, it was like as if I’d ran out of fuel but I hadn’t. I Retired and went home. Any ideas ?

I'm considering a weight reduction program on my 315r. It would be super to see photos of the things that were done. I did get a chance to look close at Dougies bike at Duluth but like a dummy didn't take any pictures. Martin... if your out there - is there anything you can share now, like the actual final weight and some comments perhaps? I also remember some talk/speculation about the frame being fabricated of thinner stock and 5th gear removed. Come on Martin - time to spill your guts!! Some items I remember: 1) Ti (probably) rear shock body 2) Rear wheel lightened between spokes 3) Misc brackets machined 4) Triple clamps - probably Ti 5) Ti hardware/axles perha…

Hi all, Newbie to the forum (and trials bikes!) - I am looking for some advice please im in my forties, motorcycling for years but never ridden a trials bike. Although I've been interested in them since watching kickstart I've never made a purchase. However now having two young kids and a friend who was badly injured in a road crash I find myself looking at trials bikes, just for fun and improving my skills initially but in due course might try and get into the trials scene with my boys. Like a lot of newbies my question regards which bike to get. The first part is easy, I am settled on a Montesa. I love honda stuff and have done for years, even have a Hon…

What is ACTUALLY known about Bou's & Fujis bikes? What is known versus conjecture, guessing, he said she said etc ? How different are Bou's Fuji, and Busto bikes to each other? Really curious to learn by the knowledge out there. Thanks for the responses.

OK, so in the absence of a spark on my 247, I guess it's time to overhaul the ignition set-up... Motoplat system. I've purchased a flywheel puller, timing tool (plug type), points and condenser, but being new to the old-school points system fitted, I'm clueless as to how to proceed. Can someone clarify: 1: Rotate flywheel clockwise to fully open points, as viewed through flywheel 'slot'? 2: Remove flywheel using puller tool, then set points gap accordingly - what is the specified gap? 3: Insert timing tool in plug hole, then rotate flywheel clockwise (loosely refitted), until TDC is reached - then further rotate flywheel clockwise until the requir…

hello, ive been away from trials for a number of years now, but am looking to make a return. My brother has just bought a 300rr, and it seems a bit more sharp off the bottom than I remember my old 4rt was, but it was while ago.. The suspension was excellent tho, I have to say, front and back. I had a couple of 4rt's before , a 2005 and a 2008 model. my 2005 was a better bike, because it was newer to me and had seen less abuse than the 08. I was looking at the 4rts and noticed things havnt changed much outwardly. Ive also done a bit of reading up and most opinions are to go with a repsol as it has better suspension and rims. however, I am on a budget, i.e i…

Does anyone know the ready to trial weight of the Montesa 4RT? Just weighed a 2011 Beta EVO and it actually weighed 73kg. Been previously put off by comments of Montesa's weight but now wondering there might not be as much difference as previously thought.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum - just signed up as I need some help. I have a 2005 4rt. Just completed a oil filter/oil change and the clutch plates were removed and inspected as we had a 'judder' on the clutch. Also checked the tappets - inlet were very slightly over so these were adjusted. Put the bike back together yesterday - no spark. This is what I have done so far to try to cure it: -Checked spark plug on a Gas Gas - works fine -used a Gas Gas plug against the head on the 4rt to check for a spark - nothing! -Removed flywheel casing just to do a visible check - all seems ok. no visible wires broken on the pick up or the stator -I have checked every co…

As per title really. Was riding on Sunday when I realised that I haven't seen or heard anything about a new 'use the word new loosely' Mont for 2010. Is there one? Have I missed some huge news? Or are they just late releasing it? Shouldn't be the latter, how can you be late when all need to do is decide 'what colour to paint a 5 year old bike'
