Hi, I have just got a new UK 08 4rt and was wondering about the exhaust restrictors ... Will the internal ones have been removed on PDI ? If not, do they need removing or leave well alone ? I have removed the external restrictor on the end of the silencer, should I have done this ? Thanks for your help ....

Hello all, I have a 2007 4RT that is a little finicky when it comes to starting, it quite often needs a "reset" by holding the throttle wide open and a slow kick. What this reset does, exactly, I have no idea, but if I do it, the bike is guaranteed to start up on the next kick. I end up having to do the following at least every second time I start the bike: -kick -swear -kick again -sigh -hold WOT and kick slowly -kick and try to catch up on the loop trail and eat everyones dust It makes no difference if I stop the bike with the kill button, or if I stall it at part throttle or at idle. Idle is set high, play in the throttle. In the course of an event, then, th…

I was changing the oils in my 2005 4RT today. I found that the engine had over 900 cc of oil in it and the gearbox had about 5 cc. I don't think this is a good thing. How did all the gearbox oil get over to the engine? I found an earlier post about engine oil going into the gearbox due to a pinched breather tube. All my breather hoses are open. I put 540 cc in the gearbox and left the engine cover off to see if any gearbox oil is going to run through to the engine overnight. Does anybody have any advice or opinions?

Hi. I've been offered a 315R D.R Replica, in reasonable condition for £1500. As my knowledge of "modern" trials bikes extends no further than my air cooled RTL four stroke, I would appreciate some info, data on the strengths, weaknesses of this model? Reading previous threads it seems that the 315R is still a popular choice, with reasonable potential & good build quality. Are spares still available? What's different from the base model compared with the D.R. replica? 314R/315R comparison? Cheers chaps. Mike.

Does anyone have the top end big bore with 11 cc (299) ? Can I have feedback on the product? I m considering to put one in my 300rr. Would that put any harm on the bike? Note: it also has a titanium pipe. Thanks

  9. I'm new to trials and mechanics in general but enjoy learning on a 2006 4rt. After oil change, the bolts that secure the side cover on (about 6 or so) have to go on soooooo gently or "SNAP". I got a torque wrench and set it to 16 pounds/ sq. ft. as manual says.....and SNAP, again! I'm soiling my trousers over this! Not really. Is this an issue for anyone else? Do replacement bolts have to be purchased from Honda only? THANKS!!!!

Hi Thanks to everyone that has answered my questions, I have deleted the whole thread somehow. I had replied to the two answers to my dragging slipping clutch querie and also mentioned that i had got an old review on this bike from 1974 and posted the reply, it got moderated and told me to delete, I followed the instruction and here I am now on a new thread. I have now also had to change the text again on this post due to moderation? Thanks for the good advice. Cheers

I found this site which, although in Spanish, gives the most comprehensive explanation of the evolution and development of the 247 that I have seen. Google translate may help! http://nacho247.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/evolucion-de-la-cota-247.html

  13. Hi, I wonder what the forum's thoughts are on maintenance. I have just bought a late 2016 4RT which has clearly had next to no use. The seller reckoned that it has been used for no more than 3 or 4 hours. Gauging by its good nick, tyres, paint, wheels, casings I think so. Certainly never been trialled and looks like it's been stored in a dry place. The manual talks hours and annual/bi-annual checks and works. I have changed engine oil and filter (was Honda OEM and probably this is its first service), gear Oil, plug and air filter. Given its age and not its use should I be doing anything else or am I good to go? Runs and starts fine. All thoughts appreciate…

  17. I was practicing on the above bike (which is fairly new to me) at the weekend. When going down long hills with the clutch out and brakes on, the rear wheel 'judders' as in jumps up and down during the decent. On closer inspection, when I compress the rear suspension and release it, there is no rebound damping. It clonks as it hits the top stop. This bike is in good mechanical condition with little or no free play in the swing arm or rear suspension. I'm assuming I can adjust the rear shock to stop this. What are the guidelines for adjusting the spring tension and dampening and rebound settings on my bike? I weigh 'just over' 100Kg (with my clothes on).…

I had the clutch cover off and am struggling to understand how the clutch actuator works. Every bike I remember controls the bike from the opposite side of the engine. A rod goes through and pushes the pressure plate out to create clearance and release the clutch. On this bike, the slave cylinder pushes in the opposite direction. So, is the movable pressure plate on the back side of the clutch pack when compared to other bikes? The parts list looks like that.

Hello My 301rr has a knocking noise on low revs. Not sure what it could be but a good mechanic told me it sounds like a worn piston. Bike is a 2020 and it has been used most weekends. Bike has no vibrations and runs great, it doesnt smoke. Anybody had to change their piston on the 301? Could their be other issues with the bike? Main bearings, big end? Or is this not something that goes wrong quickly? Kind regards bob
