Hi all, I'm patinting my front AJP caliper and the bolt.holding the caliper wouldn't come out. I ended up using a blow torch to heat the bolt so the damn thing would come out. In doing so I've blown one of the piston seals. Does anyone know where I can buy an AJP 4 pot piston seal without having to buy a full repair kit? I've been googling 25mm piston seal and I'm not too confident it will be the right seal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fully understand that I shouldn't take blow tourches to things lol, my impact driver is in the post.

Hi Folks, Chasing some advice / knowledge about Gas Gas shocks fitting Sherco's. My son has been offered a second hand 5 way adjustable Reiger shock at a good price. But shock has come off a 2015 Gas Gas 300, does anybody know if it will fit a 2018 Sherco 300 Factory ?? I've been onto some Reiger websites but cant find any info. Thanks in advance, Gary

My lad is desperately after a trials bike toy/replica model that he can actually play with. I have done a bit of googling and had very limited success, I found a thread on here from 2010 that basically said they didn’t exist. Just wondered if anyone knew of any changes in the last 10 years? Thanks Dave

Hello, i need some advise on choosing the correct engine for a first trial bike. I have been riding MX since i was a kid and i have let say intermediate enduro skills. I was analyzing the newer models and will probably get a gasgas but cant figure out how does the different engines 250/280/300 feel like.. it looks like all of them have same stroke and the difference comes from the bore. i guess as with any other engine the bigger the piston the more power.. at first my idea was to get a 300cc, but is this stronger engine will affect the learning curve? I am 180 cm and 74 kilos and as of now i am hesitating between the 250 and 300 cc engines.. i would to improve m…

I checked the date stamps on the bike, the bike is a '13 and tyres are 2011 and 2012, I guess they should be replaced with new rubber, although they have virtually no wear, thoughts???

Just a quick question? I have a 99 txt obviously not riding as in lockdown, but giving it a few once overs, start up balance ect in the back garden. Question is, is it recommended to run an inline fuel filter? Just a thought that popped into my head. I was sandifords the other month, and seen them on the counter. I know people who have run filters before on mx bikes and it’s strangled the fuel so they’ve took it off. Just seeing what people recommend, and hope everybody is sticking to the rules. Hard as it is, but be worth it when we’re back out. ??

I see GasGas is switching from the Reiger rear shock to Ohlins. Any thoughts or experience on one vs the other? When I shop them separately, I see the Ohlins at almost one half the cost of the Reiger. Purely a cost savings approach? Is performance apples to apples? Cheers!

There is good reason for me asking this which will become apparent in time I need to build a list of EVERY manufacturer - no matter how obscure or how historical - who has ever built a competitive Trials motorcycle. This is my list so far, but I know I'm bound to have missed plenty: Aprilia Beta BSA Bultaco Fantic Gas Gas Greeves Honda Montesa OSET Scorpa Sherco SWM Triumph Yamaha Xispa

Hello, I am a 59 year old that has ridden motorcycles for years. I had a 1986 Honda TLR200 Reflex and a 1997 Gas Gas Contact 200. I would like to get into riding very easy trials type riding in the woods around my house, not competing. Used trials bikes in my area of Northern Indiana are hard to find and I would like to start tinkering around in the woods asap as this COVID-19 stay at home order is driving me nuts. There are two within 90 minutes of my home. One is a 1975 Yamaha TY175 ($1,400) and the other is a 1974 Suzuki RL250 ($1,000). Both seem to be in the same shape. My question is which one do you think would be the better bike for me?…

Anyone build there own engine stand? I’ve used the wooden box stand for years. Decided to look into building a metal stand that rotates. Here are a few ideas I’ve found.

Posted this in the Montesa forum (since that is what I have) but since it's generic to many brands figured I'd post it here too for some more exposure. The spring preload side (left side), what is the base setting? The Manual talks about "turning" it, what direction? I pulled up the tech docs directly from Formula and it says: "Our advice is to start leaving the adjuster in middle position (you can reach the standard position by screwing it completely and unscrewing it 5 turns). After this, you can try to modify the preload, turning the governor one turn at a time, in way to feel every possible little change." My hunch is CCW is less and CW is more? Base…

In the process of rebuilding a Sammy Miller Honda Highboy 150cc twinshock. I need to make a plate to lower the footpegs, 2" down and perhaps 1" back. It will either be welded or bolted to the existing plate. It will be 1/4" or 5mm steel.. Should I use mild steel, bdms, stainless (chromed frame) or something else? Anyone know what the original steel plate is? Thanks in anticipation.

What are you doing with your extra time at home? I got most of the other more pressing matters around the house sorted, so today I could take a look at the Cota front brake It's not perfect but much better, and works well enough to be safe for puttering around. Just need to clean the main jet (again), tighten up some spokes, and it'll be ready for the end of the lockdown ... which has just been extended to mid-April.

Hi does anyone know who makes the s3 and other decals you find on wear areas of the bike i.e. frame, tank etc where it has a fine dimple resistant/wear resistant effect which never look old even when worn. I have looked every where for vinyl like this but can only seem to find carbon effect or the woven type??? I am eager to make decals for projects and this type of decal would be perfect!! Many Thanks for any suggestions/help.

As Observers are a large part of observed trials would having their own forum encourage more people to engage? A place to ask dumb questions by people who've never observed before? Maybe a Sticky if not a whole forum...?
