As soon as the new 4RT comes out, I’m in. Just wondering (UK) where the best place is to sell a (very nice, hardly any use, mint, 2016 4RT since you’re asking..) bike these days. Not angling for any PM’s to buy it by the way. Back in the day I used to use TMX but suspect it reaches less folk nowadays. Also sold a couple of older bikes on Car & Classic with no probs. I distrust that well known online auction site. Maybe the classifieds on this site? Don’t really want to trade in but equally don’t want potential bike thieves coming round. Thoughts?

I recently happened upon a new piece of ground that would be perfect for trials events and/or practice sessions. I came across it by chance and was rather excited when I got talking to the land owner and he turned out to be a keen motorcycle enthusiast. I asked him if he would be interested in hiring the land out for either events or as a practice ground. He was quite blunt and told me he was not interested because of liability. He had heard a story of a farmer who had allowed MX bikes to practice on his land and even though he had all the riders sign a waiver of liability a person who crashed there was advised by solicitors to sue the land owner. The rider won the case a…

On a recent holiday to Scarborough I spotted an advertisement for a Sea Angling competition entry fee £5 prizes of from £200 down to £40 & £50 for largest fish. Trials & most other motorcycle sports pay a minimum of £15 entry and much more for speed events yet give out very few awards. I know we have insurance costs to take into account, some years ago I attended a local car rally regional status & drivers could sign on when using certain products tyres, oil etc and be in line for a bonus for a good result I'm talking modified road cars not WRC. You would think at National level trials the suppliers could give a little back to unsupported riders.

Hi everyone, Newbie here! I recently tried out trials for the first time and really enjoyed it. Thinking about buying a trials bike of my own but curious how they are in terms of maintenance and repairs compared to a street motorcycle? I imagine that with all the heavy impacts and shocks on the bike it can cause quite some damages, so would be great to hear what your experiences have been... Cheers!

The missus is struggling with clutch and brake control (Evo 250). She finds it difficult to grip the bars and operate the levers at the same time so is slipping into bad habits of using two fingers on the levers or not covering the levers while riding. The bike has AJP levers on it at the minute and I wondered if anyone else with this issue has a better recommendation? My bike has Apico and they really don't look any different if I'm honest, just a bit longer. I'm also tempted by some of the clutch modifications in the Beta forum to make it easier to pull the lever in. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.

I bought a Beta Evo and the points on the pegs are more blunt than any I've ever seen on an off road motorcycle. I feel like they'e been a factor in my foot coming off at least once already. Seems like they could be fixed with some dremel work. Has anyone ever done this? I'm using MX boots right now which are a little smooth in comparison to what I think I see on trials boots, which doesnt help. I should probably just buy new pegs as I think the teeth are aluminum and would get bent even more easily. Also If anyone can recommend inexpensive ones I'd appreciate it.

Kudos to TRS for thinking outside the box and designing an electric start that drives the ignition side of the crank. My question is why do we need a separate starter motor at all? Current designs use a high speed starter motor geared down to provide starting torque which is engaged and then disengaged becoming dead weight when not in use. With the lighting coils we have an array of coils in a mass of spinning permanent magnets already. If used for a starter motor and then switched to generate power once the engine is started there is no mechanical interface and none of the animal is wasted as the saying goes. The concept of a motor/generator is old. Real old. Starter/gen…

Today while riding down a long and technical trail, I noticed my front brake lever seemed to lose its free play and the lever seemed to stiffen up. I continued descending for another 5 minutes and the front brake began to engage automatically. Within a minute, the front brake was locked firmly on the disk. I couldn't turn the front wheel. The lever could not be pulled back. This continued for about 5 minutes until things cooled down where gradually the pressure on the lever and disc relaxed and I was able to freely spin the wheel. I figured perhaps my finger was slightly riding the brake and causing friction and heat. I consciously finished the remaining descen…

Kind of a generic problem I think. the fork sliders are from a 75 DT 250 and the seals are aftermarket from "All Balls Racing". The online instructions say to use a fork seal driver. Or if you don't have one of those, use a piece of PVC pipe split in half and put back together with a hose clamp. It looks like the fork tube is also inserted into the slider at the time that the fork seals are driven home. Well, I did it another way with a male plug with a shoulder at the top just slightly smaller than the seal OD on the top end and just slightly smaller than the inner bushing on the inside of the slider.- Then hammered on the bushing I made which should have driven the se…

A couple weeks ago I acquired a 2015 Scorpa 300 and made my first post on here requesting suspension setup advice. I was told to report back on how things went. So before I get started, a little history on how I got to this point. I've ridden dirt bikes since I was 14 years old, motocross, hare scrambles, GNCC's and trail riding. At 55 years old I decided to try trials. I've always been a fan of the trials rider-the masters of balance and throttle control-and after attending the AMA Vintage motorcycle days at Mid-Ohio the last half a dozen years and watching the trials events on Sunday morning, I said to myself: "I could do THAT...". So I found my Scorpa two weeks …

There seems to be quite a few topics related to fuels on this forum. I'll add my contribution here. The content of both these write-ups was posted on other forums as far back as 10 years ago. My thinking has not changed. Ethanol Technical Perspective.pdf Leaded Gasoline Technical Perspective.pdf

I maintain my Sons Repsol 4rt & since moving up to National and road trials we are getting through wheel bearings at a Great rate, have used branded & cheap and had a dealer fit a set when changing a tyre makes no difference I even remove the dust covers and re-grease them. Obviously it is worse on the rear wheel. How long do everyone else's last please.

Hi all , so I picked up my bike this weekend, am very pleased .. I have noticed that the previous owner is running 38 on the back and 9 on the front sprockets ... Im sure that standard for the TRS RR that its 40 and 10 .. I understand a little about gearing, but not 100% sure what is happening with this , I'm guessing that its lowered the top end and increased the low end response ?? is this correct, what would be the reasoning behind it be, what's achieved ?? Any info would be great .. Cheers . .
