i have just sold my car and wont be getting a new one for a few months!! the wife has got a mercedes a class. Does any one know if i could fit a towbar to her a class and then fit my dave cooper rack to it which came of a 4x4??????

Hi there... anyone got a Peugeot Partner Combi and using a Dave Cooper Rack? Just checked the S value (nose weight) on my towbar and it's 70kg. My Mont 315 and rack weigh in at about 80kg. Has anyone had any problems using this set up? Don't want to knacker the Partner!!! (Although the mounts etc seem very beefy) Just a shame the bike wont go inside....or has anyone got any words of wisdom to sort out this one either? Many thanks... Randyrat

I’ve used a bike rack for quite a few years, without any problems (and I’ve done quite a few miles) on various cars and small vans But I’ve now started to worry about the weight on the back and the law I know there is a nose weight for vehicles but I was always under the impression that this was for the towing & stability of a trailer? I’m currently using the wife’s Rover 25 which pulls the bike nicely but only has a nose weight of 70Kgs! (which is more than some big cars)

Can anybody tell me the differnce between a bike rack that ges on a car and one suitable for the back of a van or motorhome. I am sure that I have seen them advertised at different prices. I have managed to blag a motorhome for the Reeth 3 day, but need to get my bike up there. The motorhome has a tow bar, and I can borrow a rack off a friend, but it is a Dave Cooper car type. Can anybody tell me if this will fit? Thanks Dave

Just read another report of a bike theft in Stolen Bikes section on another dirt bike forum - chap reckons he was followed home and 'marked' Is it getting too dangerous to use a trailer or rack and put your wares on display...............seems following you home is a popular way for these to 'mark' your place and nick your stuff Are you more wary, doing a double loop to shake off unwanted attention? I must admit whenever I see a bike on a trailer or rack - I always have a good look to check it out and i'm the pikeys do too

OK Here is my conundrum: due to vehicle movements, leases etc..... I will not have a pickup in the near future. I know of someone who pulls a 3 place motorcycle trailer quite successfully with a Mazda Miata. I have a 1985 Toyota MR2 (Fun Car) I am looking for suggestions on the possibility of transporting my trials bike with it. For those not familiar with this car it is a MID-Engine 4 cylinder street legal go-kart. I am hesitant to use a trailer due to the front end already being light with no engine up there. More weight in rear = lighter front = less ability to steer. Was thinking more along the lines of a rack of some sort. Not too many places in the rear to a…

hello I've got a gas gas 270 (98model) and I'm looking to buy a van for work purposes but Id like on which will fit a trails bike or maybe even 2 bikes in the back. has anyone got a VW caddy van that knows this? thanks in advance.

Whats the best way to fix 2 trials bikes in a 6ft x 4ft pickup bed? The bikes are a little over 6ft so tailgate down? Bikes on a diagonal? Pictures would help.

***Disclaimer*** This is a typical kinell 'mishap' so I hereby agree to accept all manner of p*** taking, name calling and mental abuse as long as some bugger eventually tells me how to get my van running again The fuel gauge on the old Tranny always shows full so I keep a spare can of diesel* in the back. Yesterday the van coughed, ran, spluttered, ran and then died on me so I topped her up at the side of the road. The battery ran flat trying to draw fuel so I rang a mate up to help out. My 'bargain' jump leads dripped melted plastic all over their engine bay so a mate of a mate turned up with some heavy duty leads. An hour later and the cow still wouldn't start so …

Does anyone use a box trailer? If so what size for 2 bikes - would a 6 x4 x4 be big enough? Or should I be looking at something slightly larger? Thanks

I have got fed up with towing a 2/3 bike trailer and am planning selling it and buying a van. The van is to hold 2 trials bikes. i have a newish Fiat Doblo LWB in mind. i would welcome comments from owners of small vans , particularly Doblo owners, and smallest feasible engine size.

Can i put a rack on the back of a K4 fiat punto 1.2? Will it be safe driving the car..EG not a load of understear when accelerating or going up hills? If it is ok to get one, where do i get one from and how much would it cost? Secondly, roughly who much would a towbar and electrics required cost to be fitted to the said car? Thanks Ryan

I am looking at buying a bike rack for the car and wanted to find out who make them, which ones are the best made etc. The only one I have seen is the dave cooper one but im sure there must be more companies make them.I preferably want one that is coated with something so it doesnt rust so let me know what experiences you have had. Currently running a Nissan Primastar but i am looking to change in the next few weeks and have narrowed it down to the following. Transit Toyota Hiace VW T5 Mercedes Vito Did look at the Renault, Vauxhall, Nissan vans (all the same as mine just badge engineered) but have heard some bad reports. Considered the Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot but again heard of reliability problems. So what experience has everybody had especially with the four i prefer? I am open to other suggestions but i need a proper sized van as it's not used just for carrying the bike, sometimes 3 bikes, but also to tow a burger van and shift stuff / rubbish etc. I also like the idea of having somewhere …

I currently own a citroen saxo. I'm thinknig of saving up for a 4x4 but until that time comes, I need something to transport my bike (when i buy it) to its destination. Would I be able to get a bike rack for a saxo? Or better to just get a tow bar and trailer? What sort of expense would I be looking at? I live in the north east so that guy down kent who does quality trailers wouldnt be much use to me
