Mates new GG 2005 300 problems starting.......any ideas? End up kicking it over and over till it starts. Haven't been to see it myself, just wondered if this is normal, and any standard remedy. Ian.

Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a Reiger shock for fairly cheap. Will this fit my bike? Is there different models of Reiger for different years of the GG? Thanks!

I'm guessing this is going to get expensive... This is my beloved 2011 Raga 300. After the usual weekend practice and a thorough clean, I discovered both crankcase halves have broken around the lower rear engine mount. These are magnesium cases. I know there has been a reported issue of misaligned holes at this mount but I checked it about a year ago and it was perfect (no drilling necessary). Obviously this is what we have to expect to have a lightweight bike. Anyway, new magnesium cases appear to be unobtainable. I'd be happy to replace them with the standard aluminium ones hoping they might be stronger. The problem is that the local dealer appears to only have …

Noticed Wiggy's bike today had a fancy looking high capacity fuel tank, so I grabbed a few pics, and asked Julian about it. I think this one is a one-off at the moment (apart from the purple prototype in the picture). Edit: Apparently Dabster's got one as well, so at least three of them. Even with the thickness of the material used at the moment (much thicker than a Sherco) it is already 200g lighter than an existing GasGas fuel tank. One worth thinking about for Scotland? Or, just for those Gassers with liquid metal holding their alloy tank together

I just bought a 04 Gas Gas 280 pro with the Ducati Ignition system, and on the third ride it just sputtered to a stop. I've done extensive testing and I believe that I have narrowed the problem to the very problematic regulator/rectifier. I can make the bike run if I unplug the regulator and jump the AC power from the stator over to the CDI unit/coil. (The regulator does this internally) The bike will run and produce anywhere from 30v AC at idle and upwards of 60v AC revved up. Due to the difficulty of locating a new regulator/ the high price tag/ the general unreliability of the regulator I would like to make something else that could be easier to work on and hopefully b…

Does anyone know if this fork 'issue' has been resolved between Gas Gas and Marzocchi? and will the new 2009 bikes be shipping with the Alloy Marzocchi's?? What is/was the problem? Have heard that any 2008 bikes shipping now come with heavier Sachs forks. Is this another financial row?

I live in Ketchum, Idaho which is single track heaven, near the ski resort of Sun Valley (where I've taught skiing for 22 years) Last few years I've been all over the place on my 04 YZ250F. We have gads of highly technical single track which tend to leave my YZF stinking, hehe. This year I am upgrading to a KTM 250SXF, and the thing was backordered forever driving me mad. Having read all there was to read on every forum, etc on the KTM, I began to get bored. Now back in 1976, I was recovering from a very nasty crash on my RM250, and bought a RL250 exacta, which I rode quite a bit and even competed on. So I started looking at trials bikes.........alot. In a truly ame…

I recently got a gas gas txt pro 250 07.. First of all the crank base gasket needs replacing as it is leaking and also sucking in air so the bike is running like crap I have ordered the parts required including all o rings ect... My main problem is my gearbox breather pipe is syphoning out oil from the gear box as if it has pressure in it. I know this because when I loosen off the top filler bolt to the gearbox it then doesn't rise anymore.. What's strange too is the crank base seal doesn't seem to spit as much black fuel and carbon out and the exhaust smoke is clear and runs better.... Could just be coinsedence as I did change the fuel and mix today etc.. I should sa…

Ok, For my 21st my parents got me my first 'proper' trials bike !! its a 05 280 pro !! woohooo (still excited) I rode bikes as a kid at a school and about over the last 5 years have ridden old bikes, which fell apart, lol BUT NOW !! Anyway, beside this, i want to look after the thing, and really look after it !! But unsure of a couple of things, The manual says to change the piston barrel and cylinder head once a year !! which must be bull ?? ive been cleaning it, oiling it after washing, and cleaning the airfilter after use, -it needs a service, oil, sparkplug, change coolant,....?? being less than 12months, should i really dive into the swing arm…

As above.... moved house at the weekend so had the fun part of riding the bikes from villa to villa, GG as sat for couple of weeks after it was last used and fired up ok (as well as GG do!) after a couple of kicks... when it started running it was making squeaking noises however. Engine appeared to be running fine, no issues.... a bit concerned about the noise though. Seemed to be coming from low down, maybe the water pump? Cleared after a few minutes... will kick it over and try and get a video to check myself again. Last time it was out I pressure washed it (exhaust bung in) and run it afterwards till the float bowl was empty. Common issue? Or something sinist…

  15. http://youtu.be/9O93JWXvBB0 Took the bike out today and it started making rattly noises, sounds to me like the piston but when I started looking ive noticed the clutch cover is cracked around the starter shaft. So two questions: 1. Should the shaft move like this, if not what do I need to fix it? 2. Could that have been the noise I heard that I thought was the piston?

Hi guy's, i'll try and keep this as short as possible. The bike which is a 2003 250 txt pro has been getting more difficult to start when warm after you have switched it off for a few minutes. Then on her last outing she just cut out altogether and after everyone there having ago at starting her the kick starter snapped off, in the middle of nowhere. Got a new kick start on and now she wont start at all even when cold. My checks so far are New plug New HT cap New HT lead cleaned carb thoroughly although it was spotless any way fuel flows freely from tank, so the breathers are fine. Looking at the spark it's not too strong looking but is blue, so i tested the res…

Hi I'm new to trials and I recently bought a 2005 300 raga edition. On my last time out I was practicing slow wheelies up a hill when the engine started knocking a fair bit. We went back to the van and stripped the clutch side down expecting to see something but there was no obvious signs of new damage. But there was a little play in the clutch basket, is normal? Since then I have totally stripped the engine to check for play in bearings and gears but I can't find anything other than the kickstart idle gear is pretty messy teeth broken. Would that cause a serious knocking sound?

  20. With the new ownership of Gas Gas all the Rising Sun Imports/ Jim Snell technical videos have been taken down from youtube. If you try to view them now you will receive a message that says the video is private. Did anyone happen to save the videos in a format they could email or put on a disc? I'm kicking myself for not saving some of the engine repair videos earlier. UPDATE : I was told there would be an international press release about all of this mostly likely next week. Let's see what they say! Cheers, Mark
