Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can help, im after replacing the 4 long studs which takes the barrel on my bultaco, as it looks like someone has replaced mine with some threaded rod! This has worked but I'm after doing it properly as im guessing they should be a high tensile steel because of the heat maybe??? Can you actually buy these, I'm also after the studs which go in the barrel to take the head? Any advice would be great, thanks

Was wondering if any of you chaps could help out, went to start my 199A, NO GO. used to start piece of P***, full choke a couple of boots and she would she would start. but now will only start with little choke and no throttle, chuggs along for 30 secs and then dies. also dies if you twist the throttle, i am guessing that it is the pilot jet. As i stated in another post hopefully in the not too distant future i will be getting round to doing the Sherpa up. Shes a 199B a bit tatty in a well used kind of way but just paint and decals as everything works and it's all there. I recently got my dream bike a restored 1974 Sherpa T350 #92xx. I haven't had a Bultaco in 30 years so I'm a bit rusty on some things. First, the main problem is it wont start. I rebuilt the Amal 625 carb, all seems to be fine. I Checked the coil and grounding. No BIG blue spark but I could "FEEL" it. Before I attempt anymore checking I have a few questions. 1. How do you check the fluid levels? Is it if you can't see any fluid then it needs some. 2. There seems …

You've bid on that twinshock, sometime on Sunday evening, with assistance from a nice glass of wine and a loosened finger on the mouse button. Anyway, went round to see Gavin (read more here) and his latest acquisition, what he thinks is a 1971 Model 80 Bultaco. The recently finished Montesa 247 looks concours, but this might be more of a challenge. All other horror stories or comments on the Bultaco welcome :-)

Link Then select "Reportaje Sherpa " Seems like he's possibly using Alpina Yokes for less to zero offset and no tiller steering. Interesting exhaust setup. Obviously ridden by a capable rider though. Hi All Happy New Year Can anyone help with a problem on a 340 model 199B six speed gearbox ? Looking for a sleeve gear like in the photo....just with all of the teeth on it. I have tried Dave Renham at InMotion and Bellavista in Barcelona without any luck. Don't mind new or used, just hoping to get it all back together and running again. Cheers Martin

Hi all, I'm desperately in need of your help! I think I just made a BIG mistake ! I bought this bike, Sherpa 125cc, last week, it was in very good shape! It even started after a few kick start. I didn't use it, just tested it, and then it suddenly stoped while I was riding it, after less then a minute. After that impossible to start it again. So I checked many things, changed all oils, and cleaned the carburetor. That where I made a huge mistake ! When I fixed back the carburetor, I inserted the "bushel" in the wrong position, 180deg offset from the right position. I thought it was ok because I saw some guides inside the carburetor and thought it must …

The Sherpa had a few frames during its lifetime but I have often wondered if there was a single model that handled best of all or was every model change better than that previous?

I have now ridden a trial on my recently restored Bultaco 350 model 199a the blue one but find the clutch take-up too sharp. It has the all metal clutch the plates appear to be flat & in good condition not blued or burred on the tangs, everything seems ok, the clutch does not slip but take up is sharp making bike control difficult also it does not clear very well making it very difficult to select neutral with the engine running. Has anyone any ideas has I have tried everything that I can think of without success & this problem is spoiling what is otherwise a very nice bike to ride.

I'm coming close to painting the bike and I wondered if anyone knew what stickers where on the bike from new. There weren't any on it that I can remember, but the book shows a various selection. Were these perhaps available to buy if you wanted to add them yourself ? I've hunted for old photos from back in the day but am not any the wiser. Dear All, I'm now at the stage of putting my Frontera back together. I've got one of the Electrex electronic units and am too embarassed to ring them yet again as to how to set up the timing! I have their info sheet but I still can't work it out. The Bultaco manual says static timing should be 2.4-2.6 mm BTDC, that's static timing. The Electrex unit automatically advances above 4,000 rpm. The Electrex sheet says that 2.4mm BTDC equates to 22:30' degrees BTDC on the flywheel and suggests you use a strobe to set the engine (i.e. when running) to this. So engine running set to 2.4 mm BTDC, engine static 2.4mm BTDC. SO where's teh advance gone? DO they mean that you run the…

I took the taco plunge last week when I found this one on local CL.. Seems to have most of the important pieces intact...the m 49 seat in photo did not come with it .will need to remove buddy seat frame and pegs. I cleaned the IRZ carb and it fired right up..top end and clutch are a little noisey.. Plan is to ride it as is this summer and do a frame up "rider resto" this winter.. Can't wait to tear into it tho..

i have been working on this for a bit, but must knock on now so thought i would show a few bits i done.. As you can see, some of these i have not done them as well as i could, and the reason for this is the bike is going to be my first go at trials, so its going to get abused and on top of that i did't want a bike i would be scared to use. The bike is all there just needs bearings and a tidy up as well as a bit of welding and its on to the paint. Hi all, Coming off of a no throttle condition, my engine goes through a brief "flat spot" where it nearly stalls. Advancing the throttle just a bit farther makes it suddenly 'spring' to life and it runs well from there on up to high RPMs. I thoroughly cleaned out the carburetor, even all of the little passages (all that I could find, anyway) and the bike continues to run erratic at low speeds. A possible clue: Adjusting the air mixture screw on the carb seems to make very little, if any, difference in how the engine runs. I thought perhaps the rubber insulator was leaking between the carb and block, so I tightly wrapped the joints with electrical tape--just as a test. I…
