How many people out there are restoring old trials bikes at the moment ??????????? theres gotta be loads of us?? We must be mad???????

The Edinburgh St George Motor Club are in the process of fixing dates for 6 Sunday trials and some Saturday afternoon trials.These trials will be for twinshock and pre-65 bikes only competing on two routes and will be run in central Scotland.We currently have permission from four land owners and are hopeful on the others.We feel the classic scene in Scotland deserves trials dedicated to the older bike.Once dates are set we will let you know through the usual means,Get those old TY's, bulto's, fantics and good old British irons out of the shed and come along for a good day's fun,thanks.Tam Dodds

I've always hated the term Pre65 and welcome the idea of "British Twinshocks" so if you do too what eligability critera would you have? I'll start you off with my ideas. Engine : Obviously must be based on crankcases, barrels and heads as produced by the British Motor Cycle Industry prior to 1970. Copies allowed but must comform at least in exterior appearience to the original item. Internals: free. Ignition system: free. Carburettor: free but no fuel injection. Clutch must be cable operated. I know there has allways been a big debate about pre65 bikes, specially when you come to speak about the Scottish pre65. I would really like to LEAVE APART THE SCOTTISH PRE65 and speak just about the 21´st Century evolution of pre65 bikes, and were and when should this evolution stop (if it needs to be stopped...). We can see what both technical and sportive rules are doing to the modern trials; will this happen with classic, specially pre categories?? Hi Guy's. I am fuming. Another blow to the Super Cub Trials Projects. Behind the scenes some of us in this country UK. Have come up with the idea to build a cheaper to produce home build Classic styled trials Machine. But there seems to be total dislike in what we set out to achieve by the whole of the trials organising committees across the land, and even the motorcycling authorities. Why? There now seem to be several new updated chassis kits available for P65 and twinshock bikes, wonder if anyone knows exactly what is available and the prices being asked?

Now that the Regulations are available for the 2013 Pre 65 dont you think it would be well just for the organisers to refuse any entries for next years trial from riders who were excluded from this years event . In my opinion it would only seem merited , if nothing else to discourage riders from blatantly abusing the Eligibility Ruling as the 5 competitors did at this years event. Cubette

Dear All, I have an original pre-65 AJS 16C and it seems that there is no classic class it can enter on equal terms from any club that I can find. It seems that the bike would need to be heavily modified to be on equal terms or alternatively just ridden for fun with little chance of being competitive. Whilst I always enjoy riding, it would be much better if there was a class specifically for original pre-65 bikes. That is not to say that the currently modified bikes would be excluded. Hola, So, is Robregordo the bonus prize for missing out on the Pre 65 Scottish, hands up who's off to help empty the Spanish wine lake..... and take in the trial as well. Anybody fancy breaking up the journey down, I live about three inches down from Limoges and three inches in from Bordeaux have access to some excellent if not superb trials land, so if you want to get you eye in before the trial let me know , its about halfway in distance. Hopefully Micky and I will be there on twinshocks so the countdown begins.. Hasta la vista....

Does anyone know what's happening to the Pre 65 scene in Scotland.I know of 2 riders who ride Pre 65 bikes at all the trials I rode this year(I was riding a Scorpa). There seems to be plenty of twin shocks but the lack of Pre 65's is noticeable,is it because the trials are being laid out for modern bikes and are to difficult.I've heard that some events that are supposed to be for Pre 65 are just too difficult.Hopefully things will get better and Pre 65 will pick up.Away up the shed to get on with the C15(at least that'll be another Pre 65 on the entry ). cheers the noo Brian

Great Britain has always been a nation of inventive engineers, Richard Trevithick, I.K. Brunel, the Stephensons, R.J. Mitchell the list goes on and on, give them a need or a challenge along with adequate funding and engineering will find a way. This is exactly what is happening in P65/British bike trials at the present time, alter the regulations and they will continue to come up with a new answer to a new challenge. Posted on behalf of the P65 Organising Committee: With just over one month to go before the 2011 Pre’65 Scottish Trial kicks off in Kinlochleven, the Committee are delighted to announce that Mary Driver will be our Guest of Honour. Secretary, Anne Gordon has had 7 withdrawals to date so, to the delight of the first 7 lucky reserve riders, they have secured a place in the trial. All arrangements for the event are progressing well and hopefully the sunshine we have booked will be able to make an appearance! Hi all: Sotobike is now working in "Robregordo Classic International 2 Days Trial 2009" The trial will take place on the 23 & 24 May. Anyone think it would be a good idea to introduce rules to prevent twinshock going the same way as P65, or failing that to introduce a specials class where it would be quite ok to ride converted monoshocks, or expensive custom made hybrids built using parts from later bikes?
