Though Id post a couple of pics of my newly restored m80 sherpa. I know its not competitive in the twin shock class, but I think it was one of the best looking trials bikes ever built, and besides that trickest bike in the world wouldnt win with me on board. Thought some of you may be interested in how the project was coming along !!

I recently acquired a Sherpa 199A. The bike was set up with a left side rear brake pedal and a right side shift lever. Was this a stock set up for Bultaco in the US. The gearbox is set up to move the shift lever to either side, but the drum break is on the left side of the bike. Is there a way to convert this bike over to a right side brake pedal. On the right side frame there is a cable guide (looks original) welded to the frame, I assume for routing a cable from a right side brake pedal to the left side brake assembly. Any suggestions?

Spotted this little beauty in the parc ferme at this years SSDT. WHAT A CRACKER. I wanted it so badly, it hurt!! Talk about MINT, it looked like it had just left the factory

Can some of the experts give an opinion on the difference in power delivery of the 199A (325) and 199B (340) sherpas?. I've been told that the 325 is a bit sharper but surely a couple of cc,s doesn't make all that much difference?.

Anyone know any 35mm diameter replacement fork staunchions for 325 Sherpa T circa 1977 - 78. Many Sherpa T forks are severely corroded, I am interested to know if anyone has found a replacement pair of new staunchions from another Trials bike make that would do the job ? Fork staunchions slighly increased in diameter could be accomodated in the Sherpa fork yolks. As an alternative option, has anyone ground existing corroded Sherpa T fork staunchions, re chromed and stress relieved, etc ? Brian H

Posted a pic of this bike with JR nearly aboard in the Arena Trial thread but thought you Bultaco Fans may find the bike interesting, this is a better side view.

My Sherpa M49 came without the (top-in bottom-out) triangular box end muffler. I have not seen them for sale anywhere so am guessing will need to make one. I don't have any decent close-up photos of an original muffler to help with this. Maybe the replica triangular muffler (bottom-in top-out) as sold by Sammy Miller can be easily modified. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks David Lahey

Just Found this on ebay

I have now ridden a trial on my recently restored Bultaco 350 model 199a the blue one but find the clutch take-up too sharp. It has the all metal clutch the plates appear to be flat & in good condition not blued or burred on the tangs, everything seems ok, the clutch does not slip but take up is sharp making bike control difficult also it does not clear very well making it very difficult to select neutral with the engine running. Has anyone any ideas has I have tried everything that I can think of without success & this problem is spoiling what is otherwise a very nice bike to ride.

Sounds like an election year question, eh? I'm getting a serious jones for a Sherpa, but I already have 4 different shift/clutch/throttle configurations in the herd, and another just might send me over the edge. Actually...I no longer have a right-foot shifter, so, in some sick way, it might round out my "collection". I do have a left-hand throttle that's good for some very scary moments because the right grip twists too (spark control). Anyway...I know all street bikes had to shift on the left starting in '75, is this the case for offroad stuff, too? I also know that it was a quickly-made rule that caught even HD by surprise, and their first couple years of left-…

Does anyone know the frame numbering sequence for the 340 Sherpas modified by Comerfords?. I saw a 340 recently that looked like and was claimed to be a Comerfords bike. It had the forward top mountings for the rear shocks and the larger s/a mounting plates to take the swinging arm forward to within a few mm of the engine casing but the swinging arm itself was of heavy oval tube and I thought they had rectangular ones made by Whitehawk. Or maybe that was an extra?. How many 340s were made in total?.
