I didn't ride the last two SM rounds last weekend (due to work commitments), but i here on the (non TC) grapevine about possible changes to machine eligibility for next year ? Just wondering if this is fact or fiction, or if there are any other changes planned ?

Changes for 2016 at Peak Classic To try to increase the numbers of bigger bikes taking part in the Club Championship and also to try to cater for machines that seem to have been forgotten and the owners of which feel that rightly or wrongly they are at a disadvantage when riding against some of the more highly modified British Bikes around nowadays. We therefore decided to introduce the following changes for the 2016 season. We will along with bonus points for British bikes over 351 cc be introducing a class for bikes from the late 60’s and early 70’s that have been languishing in sheds and the only time they have seen the light of day recently is at shows. So dig …

Just had the results through for last weekends Derbyshire Dales Trial. There appears to have been some manipulating of the results with regard to time penaltys. I say manipulating because what can't speak can't lie ! How can someone who was nearly an hour late (as per the calculation taken from his punch card) have no penaltys in the published results ? Especially after time penaltys were initally entered on the score board and the words excluded also entered by the side of his name on the day ? What is the point in people traveling from all over the UK & rushing round, when such blatant flouting of the rules occurs for certain "local" people ? Then to be told th…

Hello Just bought a BSA C15 as a lad and Dad project. Its 95% complete but a few bits are missing so looking for top tips for second hand bits. The one concern I have is the points assembly is missing, its side points and I thought of fitting electronic ignition but having looked at the cost its just way out of my budget, so what would I need and how would I buy the bits? Best manual to buy? Any help or top tips are much appreciated

G'Day We have an ongoing discussion going on in Australia regarding the fact that a Bultaco Sherpa M10 won our national championship Classic (Pre 65) class last year and with the championships coming up again soon we need to know the facts about this model of Bultaco. Can anyone tell us without any shadow of doubt that the M10 was available to the retail market prior to Jan 1st 1965. My memory isn't clear enough to recall when Sam first appeared on his Sherpa but somewhere there must be facts and figures to either support or dispute the legitemacy of the model over here. I need to be refered to manufacturers records or something definite that proves when mass producti…

As a quick summary of the posts on the thread, the overwhelming consensus on this board seems to be 'We do not mind losing all genuine pre-65 bikes from pre-65 trials, we just want to ride what we want, and see no problem in that. All sports progress and that, to us, is progression in this one'. Of course, I disagree as a minority here also do. To clarify the original 'ICMTR Pre-65 Trials Rules' subject of the thread for those who were not involved, the ICMTR rules have been very carefully developed, they are a best start and are subject to further tightening if necessary, with some good points put forward here, but they are absolutely unambiguous and so enforcable, s…

Did the ballot for this go ahead on Saturday? If so any news on who got in? Cheers

So, it seems that the big bike classic scene is dying. Question, what's the best twinshock to convert to a right foot gear change and left foot rear brake?

Hi, I have just acquired a 125cc Puch Dalesman Trials bike in need of more than a little TLC. It's been years since I was involved with trials and I've lost touch with where to get parts etc. Obviously an old bike like this presents even more of a challenge, but if anyone has any information, pictures, manuals etc that I could purchase, copy, borrow I would be really grateful. Also if there are business that specialize in this bike or similar I'd be happy to hear about them. Thanks! Ian

  15. I thought that maybe some of you would like to have a look to some of the new preparations seen on the first round of the Spanish Classic Championship last 2 March in Mallorca Island. The trial was fantastic and some of the preparations where spectacular.

  16. Hello guys, last year I've got a 1973 Explorer with a semi-seized engine. Managed to find another one that should be in working conditions but the owner doesn't know which model it's from. I tried putting the engine in, it looks the same when it comes to frame brackets but it doesn't fit... it's like it's slightly thicker than the stock one where the engine meets the frame in the swingarm/filter area. Also noticed the right side sprocket cover is different (longer)... any idea? Is it better to slightly file the engine bracket or the frame?

  17. Hi Guy's Just got back from the pre trial party. And what I will say is, you don't want to miss the one tomorrow evening if that is the standard set. Every one seems pleased with the set up despite the rain 24 hours ago. And the standard of the show bikes that have already arrived is breathtaking. You would be a fool to miss the opportunity to not to come along and see the trials set up of the future. So spoil yourself this weekend, and drop what your doing and get to Stoneleigh Park. PS after tonight Alan Whitton, is now named Elvis the second. Regards Charlie.

Just to make those of us who could not make the event jealous, what bargains (or not) did you manage to turn up? Be careful the missus does not get to read it!

  19. Quite frankly I find me old TL-250 to be one the most fun Trials bikes I have ever ridden. I think back that I had more fun in No Stop Twinshock than the modern stuff. Cheaper too! Don't forget to state your reasons why!

  20. The Strtaford-Upon-Avon Club are running a round of the Sammy Miller Classic Bike series on Sunday 23rd May starting at Downs Farm near Bourton on the Hill. Current entries, as follows: 1 Pre unit rigid = 3 2 Pre unit springer = 7 3 2 stroke = 5 4 Unit 4 stroke = 7 5 Pre unit sidecar = 5 6 Unit sidecar = 2 7 Twinshock sidecar = 1 8 Twinshock = 24 9 Trail bikes = 5 10 Easy route-all classes non champoinship = 23 Overall total = 82. The SCUJ trial (and the Sammy Miller series) was I believe created for British bikes and sidecars competing on sensible sections. If the trial was limited to this, there would be just 29 entries at present instead of 82. Entry…
