After attending the Malvern show last week I am pretty sure that the new updated Yamaha Majesty has got to be the best twinshock bike available................but wonder what other people might choose if money no object, and they could afford any twinshock bike? MM

Fancy doing something a bit different, I've seen a pic of a fourstroke engine in what looked like a TY twinshock frame, lovely looking machine. I understand you can buy Chinese engines (Honda copys) off John Bliss for right money, I've heard one of these engines running and it did sound very sweet. Has anybody put a fourstroke engine in a yam frame?? any major problems? Cheers Mark P.S don't want a TLR, just fancy something different

I just recently picked up a Montesa Cota 348 and I am in the process of replacing some parts to make the bike tight and functional again. Alas, it show it's age and use, despite being well maintained by it's previous owners. To date, I've bought new brake shoes and installed, replaced the rear wheel bearings and seals, repacked the front wheel bearings [ they were still good ], replaced a badly leaking shifter-shaft seal, changed trans and clutch oils. I also lightly filed the points and reset ignition timing. I discovered that there was a small hole punched in the case from the kick-starter "bump / stop" on the shaft, allowing chain grease and dirt to enter the ignit…

This week, my riding buddies new rear shocks arrived. These were OZO Pro Trials Rear Shocks from InMotion. The version he got were the silver colored ones with Shrader valves on the end cap. My question, and he has not heard back from InMotion yet, does anyone know how to alter the size of the mounting setup in regards to diameter. I have not personally tried to work on them, but he mentioned the oem spacer will pivot and rotate, but does not seem to want to be pushed out. Obviously asking before causing damage. The shock eye mount diameter is too small.

Get it while you can... i have finaly managed to put this old VHS tape onto DVD and upload it onto youtube, it only lasts about 5mins . Entitled "Two stroke Cowboys " it is aerial coverage of the Scott from the early/mid seventies i suppose it shouldnt be there , copyright and all that and if anyone objects i will remove it , but it`s a little gem

Greetings all! Ater months of waiting, my KT 250 project is about to get under way! I'm starting with 2 semi complete bikes that I'm certain will be enough for 1 rider. As the bike is going to be ridden, I'm planning on rattle can painting the tank (unless I get my powder coat setup done), as well as painting the frame to match the tank. I saw a great photo of one on this site that featured a lay down suspension setup for the rear. A buddy of mine can do this, so my question would be where to locate the upper mount and how much gusseting? I'm thinking about positioning the mount so that the stock length shock will be appx. a half an inch longer thinking tis will help th…

Starting work on the Bult 340 has made me look a little at some of the other bikes waiting in the queue. Done some work on the Cota 330 just to work out what will be needed and would like to paint the frame in the meantime just so it does not deteriorate any further. Does anyone have a Paint code for the Red used on the 330? RAL3020 (Traffic Red?) seems to be used a lot on Monts, but not sure if it's right. I guess I can compare the new mudguards I have stored in the attic against a colour chart. Other thing is the two Ossa Grippers, I've never had a Parts Book for these, does anyone have one? Very willing to pay copying fee's etc. Wayne.....

Hi there My son rides twinshock trials on a whitehawk 80 (and does very well, 8th at the weekend in the Scarborough 2 day in twinshock clubman !)- he also rides modern. However at 12 it's getting a little small for him (will definitely be next year) - however the step up to 125/175/200 is a bit much, I have a TL 125 and Sprite 150, both of which are a bit big. I've seen a 1990 fantic 80 big wheel, air cooled mono. Was thinking of putting a new rear subframe on and converting it to twinshock, as a next step ? Any thoughts or comments ? Cheers John

Anyone seen the RTX Yamaha mono engined bike Chris Koch was pictured on in last weeks TMX news i think it was a John Bliss RTX chassis with a Yamaha ty mono engine installed? and by the looks of it a majesty tank? anyone seen it in action?

Hi guys, I've just fitted a Gremica 125mm front hub to a Bantam to try to improve the braking power over the previously fitted Montesa 110mm hub. The hub had very little wear, max dia was measured at 125.5mm and surface was free of any damage, I used a new NOS brake plate and cam assembly with oversized shoes arched to to fit the hub. The lining material was recommended by Villiers Services to be the best for trials. I also opened the brake plate spindle hole 0.020" to allow the plate to centralise with the brake on before tightening the spindle. Now what I expected was a significant improvement in braking power but in fact the braking is no better! New wheel beari…

Cost of machine and ease of getting hold of spares, ride quality etc etc.......TLR's need not apply due to the high cost of the bike on the s/h market.....am i right in thinking along the lines of TY twinshock (250?) of Bultaco 250 / 350.....any comments gents?

This has probably been discussed before, ad nauseum, but....I think I'll be selling a bike or two and reconfiguring the herd, and I might have a few bucks left over. There's what looks like a pretty cool vintage club around here, and I just might throw my hat (helmet?) in the ring. I'm not interested in thumpers...not to ride, anyway...what I'd really be looking for is the twin-shock with the most modern manners. I've owned a TY175, but, as a lad, always coveted the Bultacos and Montesas...so I have unresolved Spainish bike issues. I live in the US, so some of the British specials (Majesty, etc) are not available here. Anyway...I'd like some feedback on what you all…

was the kt 250 any good back in the 70's, i was to young to remember it coming out back then! must be one of the most beautiful trials bikes ever produced!

I have seen a lot of post about modifying a twinshock bike to make it better for competition. I also understand that no one wants to see a modern bike(ie sherco) with a pair of shocks on it just so they can say it is a twinshock and compete in the twinshock class(sigh). I am riding a kt250 still stock enough to compete in ahrma events. But I can't for the life of me see how any modification on a twinshock bike can be that big of an advantage aside from disc brakes. A trick carb,300cc big bore kit,lowered pegs,hydraulic clutch,trick exhaust,tubless wheels,watercooling etc...do you really think modifying a twinshock will improve your score? I think not. This beauty is the latest addition to my bike collection. It's in Colorado so it will be about a month before I get 'hold of it. Looks like the "infidels" have had there way with it. I just feel lucky it hasn't been converted into a chopper yet. I hope to track down original seat, fenders, one side panel and wwhatever else it needs to get back to it's original glorious state. I must be sick.
