I Suggested cleaning out the fuel tank on hrmad's 4RT poor running post. In stead of posting again on their I think it is worth starting a separate topic. Dependant on your location / country ethanol may have been in your fuel for some time. The detrimental effects of ethanol are now becoming apparent. A few key points Fuel containing ethanol can deteriorate significantly within 15 days Ethanol absorbs up to 50 times more water (from the air) than petrol Ethanol has a much lower energy output (calorific value) than petrol Ethanol attacks plastics and some metals used in fuel systems. Since 1974, I've owned Yamahas, Betas, Fantics and Gas Gas's. Due to a job move, I've been bikeless for a year, but am getting ready to order a new '08. I've always been a guy who kept a bike for awhile, and with the prices going the way they are, that will be even more true. I've ridden all the bikes and have watched them work in the sections so have a pretty good handle on what each of them are about. I loved my GG321 but I'm not a fan of the GG PRO, too fragile and I hate the kick starter. GG's seem to be turning into a ride it a year, then throw it away bike. One of my local clubs held thier annual road trial today and I and my five year old daughter observed in the morning and spectated in the afternon. As usual while observing i was firm but fair and everyone smiled expressed thier thanks and rode on, some as usual stopped for a chat or or said hello to me or my daughter. a pleasant way to spend the morning and as the sun was out and the skies blue we spectated at one of the later groups. the section was tricky, get there early and you had an evens chance of a clean the last 25% of the entry had difficulty getting out of the mudhole, some riders literally having a mudbath. I'm not sure the o p actually rides at all, who mixes up 6 litres of 2 stroke ? Is that overfilling a 5L can, or part filling a 10L can ? Anybody care to comment ?

I would just like to comment on the appalling level of grammar, spelling and punctuation by the contributors to the forums. Whilst the views aired are frequently informative, entertaining, humourous and enlightening, all too often the essence of the post is lost by how it has been written. I can feel "egg on the face" if I've missed a spelling mistake!

So I’m just throwing this up for discussion really… Those who have read my previous posts will know I’m new to the sport. After research and deliberation I opted for a Beta Rev 3 250, I tried finding a 200 but had no luck there. Initially I fancied a twin shock, poss an old TY175 or Fantic 200 but the consensus was that something modern would be easier to learn on. Most road bikes I’ve had have been 4 stroke, I’m a Harley lover and have had 5 over the years and as far as two strokes go I’m a fan of old Lambrettas of which I own one (1961 vintage with tuned motor). Some of you guys could help me out a bit if you will. I have decided to convert my trail bike to a trials bike, so I ordered new fenders and am fabricating my own front fork mounting brackets. The bike originally came with a 2.75 x 21 Bridgestone tube type tire on it, but that one is long gone. What I need to know is what is the overall width of some of the2.75 x 21" trials tires out there now.? The tire on my front right now is a 3.00 x 21 knobby, so it is almost touching the inside of the new fender .I think the trials tire will be a bit narrower, but different brands are different sizes even though they all say 2.75" x 21" or what ever. I need the measurem…

So for guys that ride a LOT... like 100+ hours a season; how often are you replacing the bike, either with something new or newer? I realize this is a little more complicated that just the bike, as there's budget to consider. But I'm still curious... It's probably worth noting that I ride at an intermediate level. Which is to say there's a fair amount of crashing and banging into immovable objects involved. Obviously if you're riding at a level where this isn't the case, the bike's bound to last longer.

Having just returned from spain, i have been informed of a famous trials rider developing a new trials bike with a famous motorcycle manufacturer, guess who and what. i wll inform when we have some replies.

what i wanna no is why are they so tight looks really poofy hugging all the parts off your body i mean it looks good on the lady's (nice lookin ones that is) but on us makes me feel sick can someone explain why they are so bloody tight

All the back and forth about rules, classes , section difficulty, the list goes on, are we ever going to get back to just worrying about cleaning the next section?. Don't know how some of you feel on this subject but here goes . Sorry but this subject has been in the back of my mind for ages . I am completely amazed by some of the bikes (road and off road ) that are being touted as " classic" . Bikes what were crap then and are still crap now going for silly money .Not saying that they've not had good ( not em all that's for sure ) jobs done on them ,but for god's sake . I saw an add for a Honda 750 saber .Grotesque looking ,crap quality , i,ll handling junk . Assuring selling point "Great drive" "collectable classic " . If that bike is a classic , i'll platt ***** ! Guys I started naming my bikes my 2019 Scorpa 125 factory is Rose and my 2018 Beta 125 RR is Aurora and the are really quite nice to look at . But I do not know how to post pictures so hopefully you can put up the nicest looking bike you ever owned .

Hey, Was cleaning the bike earlier, and I have justed a new (to me) chain lube called PJ1 Black Label, It applys well...and attracts more dirt then little. Anyway, trying to clean the chain but the oil WILL NOT move. Any suggestions as to getting it off? Its all over my chain, and the remaining oil (after application) has gone all down my rear (and front) sproket...which is all black with dirt. Also it has dripped onto my rear wheel rim... Many thanks in Advance.

Sorry. I know this one has been covered before but I can't find the postings on what sealer to use on the rim tape to stop it leaking through the spoke holes. Can anyone tell me what is the best sealer to use? Is there a trick to getting the tape in place? We spent two hours on it this afternoon and the damn wheel leaks like a sieve! Thanks

Has any company produced a budget trials bike that costs about a third of let's say a Gas Gas? I'll bet an Asian company could do it and there would be a strong market for it. If you look at the progress of mountain bikes, they now make very inexpensive bikes with full suspension and disc brakes that copy the designs of the more expensive brands. They could make a TY-250 air-cooled mono knock-off with steel rims and such and have interchangeable TY parts for replacements and upgrades. I've heard of a Korean MX bike that copies a Honda.
