I have just become the owner of a new Ossa 280. I have coveted this bike for many months and its finally a reality. But I just cannot start it. Others have. But I seem unable to find the trick to it. Can anyone help me. My soles are bruised and battered and the bike sits looking like a bitchy virgin on her wedding night. Help me.

Hi Guys, My 2012 Tr280i Ossa shut-off while riding and did not want to start again. I’ve already check the spark plug (was dirty/black), checked the air filter (was clean) and checked that the gas pump was working and it was. Then, I replaced the spark plug … but still... doesn’t want to start. I guess the next step to test should be whether there is electricity or spark being generated?... however. the spark-plug cap is so deep that it seems pointless to put it against the frame and kick it to check it (as on a regular carb bike) + this one being a fuel injected… I don’t know whether the best thing to check is through the “Diagnostic Software” ? or is there any othe…

Hi All, I've always liked how the ossa TR280 rides after a brief ride on one last year , and have had my eye out for a good second hand one to purchase. But after whats happened and reading the posts on "Kokusan Denki No More" What are peoples genuine opinions on taking the plunge and buying one ? ie. For's.....You could probably get a good one now for reasonable money ? Against.....Getting it repaired (spares) problems ? Thanks For your opinions.......Craig.

Hi all! Just checking around if anybody has any news about Ossa. The rumour says they have moved into a new "factory (setting up a production line)". However no press releases or info/sign/rumours of a 2016 model is not that promising. They can't afford another no-sell year. /TJ

Almost my only compliant about my Explorer is the rear linkage. It is probably just fine for most trials- but I ride it a lot and in a lot of mud and water. Those bushings are ok if you take the thing apart a lot- but I'd rather have something a little more robust and with zerk fittings. Anyone looked at coming up with something else? Or no issue for anyone else? Bearings and zerks would be nice. Even just zerks would be ok, since I could hit it every ride. Mark

It's looking a bit ratty and I want to do a couple of things to the bike to make it more suitable to me.the frame is going to get a black powdercoat, the triples are getting black anodizing and i'll change the airbox cover for the new style vented one.I'm going to try and see if I can get a 2015 sticker set for it if it will fit the 2011 plastics.Might have to get a newer seat base and bendy rear fender. While the engine is out, another base gasket is going in to make it easier to kick thru.I doubt it will effect low end power, but I might lose top end.Never use all of it anyway.

Hi Like the look of OSSAs. Worried about reliability issues. Faults? Would I regret buying a 2012/13 ? Thanks Tony

I am looking at a new 2013 bike. Trying to decide between the OSSA , Beta, and Sherco. I'm an intermediate rider. We ride woods with steep hill climbs and steep rock sections, some longer trail rides; all in big mountains (British Columbia). Any comments on the Ossa bikes? Some people are saying the the FI isn't quite there yet, Carbs are still better. How about general quality and reliability? Any suggestions what you would buy if you could get a new 2013? Thanks from a research (and trials) addict.

Look, it's a slow day at the office and I've been worrying about the price of this here, new bike? In comparison; what makes (made ) the Montesa 4RT so expensive? Is it because it's a 4stroke engine and they have more mechanicals?...but Beta/Sherco seem to manage to keep the price down on theirs .OSSA has a 2stroke. Or is it because it has an alloy frame?..again Beta seem to be able to moderate their prices. OSSA has a steel tube frame. Or is it (as I suspect ) Fuel Injection...how much does that add to the price of a trials bike? I'll give you a further insight into my logic process :- When I look at a new trials bike I try to imagine (like we all do) what…

I'm new to this forum , just bought a 2012 Ossa tr280i , not really happy with the engine feel in bottom end and it keeps on flooding. So I'm trying to understand how the FI system works , I understand FI but I don't get how the Ossa does its calculations , my MAP sensor is In the outside air not the manifold , so is the amount of fuel dependent on the throttle position? (With some tweaks for engine temp etc) so the map sensor is only monitoring the barometric pressure ?

On my original 2014 Explorer (sold a couple years ago) I broke the suspension linkage a couple of times. I bought some Titanium ones and they were great (with lube fittings). But the company no longer makes them. I suspect they didn’t sell very many at all. Since I like learning things and have been working on Fusion (3D CAD) I have been designing a new linkage. I am basing off 2015 links (larger main link) but going to change to needle bearings in the middle of the link, with lubrication passages. The other ones would be a lot more difficult to change from the bushings, but I can still put lube passages. I have 3D printed the parts so I can test fit and make…

My 2013 TR280i has started to smoke recently, any idea what might be the cause? Doesn't run so well as well and it doesn't seem to be the fuel mixture issue, I've tried with a different fresh fuel/oil mixture and still the same. I figure it's maybe a gearbox oil leaking slowly into crankcase room, but where that leak might occur, a bad crakshaft seal in one side? Any ideas?
