Gas Gas

Greetings all, I am new to this trials stuff, and have located a 2010 Gas Gas 280 pro to use as a first trials machine. It looks to be in good condition and is from a local trials club. In my research, I have found mixed opinions as to the use of this as a first bike. I have been on dirt bikes/off roading, and many street miles since 1972 so I hope there will be some cross over to trials. I am looking for some know how here to advise if this is a good starter or if there might be something else I should consider. Thanks.

hi all im new but need help i have just got a gas gas txt2000 does the 2000 mean its a 2000 model? but if i go by the frame numbers is says its a 2002 10th digit down.. help

Hi Guys, I am having problems starting my gas gas, it wont fire up and petrol is comming out the exhaust at the head? any Ideas? There is spark and I cleaned the air filter and dryied it too This bike is a 2003 txt pro I think, seems they were the frist year that the pro line started and gave a lot of trouble? not sure if that fact is right tho but this bike has given me its fair share of problems

Hey, All!!! I've got a 2010 280 Pro TxT with the 40mm aluminum Marzocchi forks I'm working on. Wasn't too sure the videos at Gas Gas USA were "relevant" for these forks, so that's why I'm posting here...... I started out doing (what I thought was...) a simple oil change of the forks. I took the fork legs out, after loosening the caps. Removed the caps, springs, & spacers, and then turned each fork leg upside down in an oil drain pan, and let them sit that way over night. The oil looked thick & yuckky. Not much yuccky oil came out, but so far so good? Next day, I thought while these forks were this far apart, I'd see If I could get my previously stuck rebound ad…

hi guys pretty new to trials and have bought a 05 txt pro 280 and just replced the rear shock link bearings. i noticed the preload collar was wound up as hard as could go, and forks seem pretty soft just wondering how most riders have their suspension set as im assuminng you would need some sag and also enough compression and rebound to help bounce the bike around but not too much as the tires bounce off things and loose grip? any help on sag and settings would be great also the damping and rebound. cheers chris

Hi, Looks like I got caught out, my Montesa 4RT could be an '05 when it was sold as an '07, people are telling me the 10th digit on the frame no equals the year. Got an '05 TXT Pro as well (and prefer it!). Anyone know how to identify my TXT Pro from the frame number? All the grahics are right, but I'm getting paranoid now. Hanging is too good for some people, but I suppose it's 'buyer beware' and all that. Cheers and happy trialling.

Hi guys, I usually change the oil every second weekend, probably a bit over the top, but for all the price of the oil i like to keep it fresh. When i change it there's usually a metallic look to the oil as you would expect really, my question is, would it do harm to pour say 100ml of diesel through the filler hole and let it drain straight through, to flush any metallic grains that would be resting in the sump, perhaps i'm getting to fussy Cheers Steve

I have a problem with the clutch on my bike, it keeps dragging even with the lever completely pulled in to the handlebar. The bike is used but new to me since one week, the last owner used Motorex 10W30 synthetic gearbox oil, so my first question is if this is a good oil to use for my bike? It has been a while since i last owned a bike and the last one did not have an hydraulic clutch so im not yet familiar with this, can the problem be air in the hydralic system for the clutch? It does not feel like it is slipping at any point, just not completely disengaging when the lever is pulled. I have tried to adjust the play and the "setting" of the clutch lever, but without …

This is another no-spark problem. I've done a fair bit of searching and found various references, but I'm still missing information that I'm hoping others can provide. Background - secondhand 07 GG TXT Pro 250. Been going OK for the past few months since I've had it, starts pretty easily. About a month ago I fitted lights (GG original headlight, LED tail/brake. Fitted my own wiring rather than try to sort through the various existing connectors) ready to get Recreational Registration on it, all seemed OK. i have a 2011 gg 300 txt pro and the suspension feels like mush. Took it to my local suspension guy and he said the Sachs rear shock is not made to rebuild. Do I need to get a new shock? The bike squats so low now it won't even stay on the kick stand, it tips over.

I just bought a 04 Gas Gas 280 pro with the Ducati Ignition system, and on the third ride it just sputtered to a stop. I've done extensive testing and I believe that I have narrowed the problem to the very problematic regulator/rectifier. I can make the bike run if I unplug the regulator and jump the AC power from the stator over to the CDI unit/coil. (The regulator does this internally) The bike will run and produce anywhere from 30v AC at idle and upwards of 60v AC revved up. Due to the difficulty of locating a new regulator/ the high price tag/ the general unreliability of the regulator I would like to make something else that could be easier to work on and hopefully b…

Hi guys, recently a buddy of mine took my gas gas 280 txt pro out for a warm up spin, when he came back the bike was stuck in second or frist gear ( i cant remember) and the gear peddle was at the 11 o clock position rather than the normal 9 o clock position, we couldnt change up nor down!, on inspection we removed the clutch cover and found a mangled up "shift shaft return spring" and a bit of metal filings as well, also the inside of the clutch cover was damaged where the clutch release arm was rubbing up against it, I think that bit was due to not having the clutch hub bolt in it! anyway I though this would be an eazy fix! but the other day I was practicing balance on…
