Just curious back a few years ago it was mandated all bikes were going to have to be 4 stroke then the manufacturers got around it and 2 strokes survived but Honda has remained 4 stroke on the world level is that the only 4 stroke to competing now? I also noticed Honda advertises their new production model has a motor revamped to ride like a 2 stroke instead of offering a new 2 stroke engine. So i am wondering is the ruling 2 stroke is ok only temporary?

In the days leading up to the EU Referendum I noticed quite a few comments on Facebook from trials riders indicating which way they'd vote. Interestingly there seemed to be massive support for Brexit. This I found surprising as it contradicted predictions of a win for the Remainers. According to CEO Stephan Pierrer, KTM is looking into developing a trial bike in the next two years. I for one, am very curious what they come up with.

I haven't gotten much action in the other forum so maybe there could be some help here. I picked up this old Honda Thumper in good shape, and want to know about weight reductions and improvements to the bike. Looking out of the window this morning and watching the rain I was thinking what is the grippiest bike? - forget build quality and all the usual best bike stuff, in the snottiest conditions, greasy clay, chalk or mud, slimy rocks, though being a southerner don't know too much about that, what is the bike with best ability to get you to the ends cards feet up. National and international trials events . How long before they are affected? what action should be taken , if any?

This is very much just a personal observation, but I'd be interested to hear how it resonates with others. The last "regular" trial I went to was a bit of an exercise in frustration - I was (knowingly) riding a grade at & above my abilities because I enjoy a challenge and I don't care about placings. I ride for self-satisfaction. That 2-day event saw me really struggle in parts, taking voluntary 5's on a couple of sections. The second day I dropped down a grade which at least let me ride every section. Last weekend I went to my first Gate Trial. Lot's of fun - more fun than I think I've ever had at a comp. 2 weeks ago my local club held a 'trials training day'. Broken down this consisted of 1.5 hours of practising on 8 sections that had been set out, then 3 laps of these 8 sections with a score card. Bearing in mind this 'training day' had no effect on any club championship points in either the 'A' or 'B' route. I ride whenever i can but am new to the sport of trials in only the last year and so i enter the 'B' route. I work away from home from 4 - 6 weeks at a time and so this day was only the second time on my bike in 8 weeks due to work and holiday commitments. I am still amazed by the amount of bike enthusiasts that get this wrong......even bike dealers, importers etc etc. FACT: SMALLER FRONT SPROCKET: bike will have more power/acceleration low down and less top speed. Gears will feel shorter as revs will climb quicker. LARGER FRONT SPROCKET: Bike will accelerate slower but will have a higher top speed. Gears will be longer as revs take more time to pick up. SMALLER REAR SPROCKET: bike will have more top speed but will accelerate slower. LARGER REAR SPROCKET: bike will loose top end speed but will gain acceleration. Please argue with me on this.........! Ok, so I've come from an AMCA Motocross background so the process was I joined my nearest club, Joined the AMCA, got my licence. Attended club nights once a week and booked in for available meetings within my group, paid the club chairman, I'd get my confirmation slip in the post that week. Roll up at 7.30 on a Sunday Morning, hand over my slip at the gate, Gear up etc. Practice, 3 races, go home in pain and soak in the tub for a few hours. After reading through TC forums, there is only a handful of people who regularly reply to posts and it seems to be the same old names (not that i'm complaining , these forums contain some of the best advise available ... anywhere ). But how do we get even more people to interact within the forums ..... Hi guys, Im new here and to trials riding. I ride enduro but decided to get a gas gas 280 a few days ago. Im sure this kind of thing has been covered but i have searched and would like a bit more help. I know trials bikes are for trials etc but i would like to be able to jump and trail ride my trials bike. I love the low weight and how they react on trails. much closer to my mountain bike than my ktm enduro bike. But how much damage will i do using the bike for that?? I know the gearing is all wrong but what else? Yes the suspension is soft and not as strong as an enduro bike, but mountain bikes handle it so why cant a trials bike? Am i really going to have a pr…

So, with Alfredo Gomez not getting Montesa bikes for 2012 (p*** poor timing for Alfredo), Fabio Lenzi leaving the Future Montesa team and Laia Sanz, now on the Gas Gas, how long before, either Honda pull the plug on Montesa, or show continued interest in motorcycle trials with the launch of a new bike. Personally I'd like to see Honda continue, (I love my 4RT) In my personal opinion, they should ditch the Montesa name and sell the new bike as a Honda RTL, because thats what effectively they have been and would be (Its not like Honda dont have any history or success in trials is it).
