Hi all, I now finally have a job and a wodge of cash that is burning a whole in my pocket so I am thinking of getting my wheels coloured. The rims coloured yellow with the side walls polished and the huds done in black and my spokes coloured alternately yellow and black! However please give me your opinion on this colour scheme! (My gasser is yellow by the way)! Also, what do you think the best coatings would be? Anodizing for the rims, powdercoat for the hubs and spokes? I would prefer them to be able to do the wheel building but dont mind seeking a wheel builder if I have to. I would just like some advice on where I might be able to get this done and what you thi…

  4. Hi again.Currently have a 2013 300 Beta and Is a great bike and looking to blow my work bonus on a new bike in the next month. I've owned a new 4rt and was a really good bike, light tractable. awesome build quality etc and owned a fantastic 2012 Beta Evo 250 Factory. Both brilliant bikes in their own right.. Im really interested in either a new Montesa Repsol or a 2015 Factory Beta..that has not been released yet So with the release of the 2015 250 Factory immanent. Does anyone know what the specs are and colour etc??? They say that Italy will have the first lot available but would be interested to know if anyone knows anything more?? Which of the two mentioned bike…

This topic has been discussed several times with people having many opinions and all with there for's and againsts, but which one is more challenging to the rider ??? I see it this way: STOP - gives the rider, albeit with a time limit at the higher level of our sport, within reason enough time to assess a difficult part of the section allowing him to hop and skip to get him back on line, certainly a great skill for the few that can do it and walking the section you don't have to be inch perfect everywhere as you can stop and hop back on line to get you out of some trouble if you get it slightly wrong. NO STOP - gives the rider one chance and one chance only to get his …

Has it always been so hard for a talented rider to get sponsorship ?. I see posts were very good riders can't afford to attend the world events because it's way beyond there means, is the profit margin for factory, importer, dealer so close to the bone that the best a top rider can hope for, is a loan of a bike and/or help with expenses if lucky. I see some think the cost of a new bike is too much, on the other hand I hear the profit margin is so small that, people in the business to make a living, are struggling to keep afloat. I may be wrong, but it seemed to me twenty years ago the shops had more lad's out on the hill with a bit of sponsorship, the importer coul…

It must be cold or snowy or just plain freezing for most of you in Europe and the USA for that matter? So are you trialling much or just getting some static practice in the shed with a doona wrapped around ya? We stop here in the dead middle of summer, maybe the hottest 4 weeks or so in the middle of summer, both trials and enduro as it hits 35-40 deg C and the UV rating hits mega skin cancer zone! Stopping for the month gives a chance to celebrate xmas have some hols et cetera but we ride the trials bikes the other 11 months. We ride the road bikes through the summer though... hottest day this year out on the bike was 41 deg C at 6pm... riding down the highway! I pull…

Fajardo seems to have moved ahead of Dabill. What is the reason? Is Vertigo not as good as Beta? Is Dabill handicapped by developing new bike? Has Fajardo / Beta combination improved relative to others? Should EFI 2T now be beating carburated 2T?

I was going to post tonight in the "Anything Goes" forum for some help with my other hobby outside Trials Central, but I thought it might be fun to let forum users guess what that "other hobby" actually was. Some of you know me and have met me, but most of you don't have a clue about the guy behind this site! Only one person who frequents these forums actually knows what I spend my spare time on outside of this website (and they're not allowed to enter!) Up for grabs is a Trials Central Polo Shirt from the about to be launched range of clothing plus a years Supporter status on Trials Central with access to all additional Supporters photos and videos. (Even if you're alre…

Like most I've plenty time on my hands at the moment . How does the forum feel the sport will go once it all passes ? Can't imagine we'll pick up where we left off, few of us won't feel the impact on finances and for a long time. Also are the days of just jumping in the van and heading off at a whim over, will it be local trials only? What about the clubs? It's tricky enough running Trials and added restrictions would be a real chore. Also would landowners be so keen to let us use there land? Also, what about the manufacturers, most are pretty dodgy at the best of times, will they even resume. I know I sound kind of bleak but we've had it so …

  12. There is good reason for me asking this which will become apparent in time I need to build a list of EVERY manufacturer - no matter how obscure or how historical - who has ever built a competitive Trials motorcycle. This is my list so far, but I know I'm bound to have missed plenty: Aprilia Beta BSA Bultaco Fantic Gas Gas Greeves Honda Montesa OSET Scorpa Sherco SWM Triumph Yamaha Xispa

After the first round on the indoor world championship, what are peoples views on dougs performance? Is he past his best? Just not used to 2 stroke yet? Is his best to come? Are we simply convincing ourselves his best is to come based on his early days performance on a 2 stroke? Or perhaps he's just not up there with the best now? Whats your view?????????????????????????? One things for sure you can't knock him for his enthusiam for trying.

  14. Why are so many of the top riders Spanish? Surely trials is bigger over here in the U.K? The only thing I can think of is the fact they have better weather? I know the top riders seem to be able to ride in the wet just as well as the others.. but as it’s always dry year long they get to push themselves more. I haven’t got any better over winter because near enough everywhere is a **** hole and I just slip and slide everywhere and rocks are as slippy as Ice which means not doing bigger stuff like maybe I would i it was dry! Obviously they are in a different league to us but I guess the same applies for the top riders from over here.. I guess that’s why Dabill goes …

In other posts / forums various comments about lack of entries (typically 60% of what they used to be), Fujinamis Honda problems causing a 5 and lack of bike sales. We are in a recession and disposable income for many is going to decline for some time, petroleum prices are going to rise (affecting rubber and plastics as well as gasoline). Against this background is restricting bike development to reduce costs a good idea? Following suggestions:- Ban titanium Ban chrome molybdenum - replace with CDS Ban magnesium - any alloy parts to be readily weldable grade of aluminium Clutch to be cable operated Brakes to be cable operated and single "piston" callipers only Brak…

I log on every few days, from time to time and click New topics Nowadays, every post seems about how to fix this bike or that bike, what's wrong with this grub screw etc Nothing about the actual sport of Trials I have noticed this over the past year or so (so don't blame lockdown) When Trials Central first started it was all about Trials riding, comps, views, differing techniques................now it's got boring and just like a Trials bike repair shop Last week I tried to discuss Trials after lockdown, the influence of social distancing at events etc..................what happened? 5 or 6 replies and that was it Does anybody actually compe…

Fancied changing my present bike for a nearly new 200. I am a novice rider though I am note intimidated by the power of a big bike. To my mind a 200 would seem to be the ideal compromise of power to weight though they do not seem popular with other riders. Does anybody thoughts or experience of 200s. Thanks, Scraggydog

Ok, I'm sick of getting changed in the wind and rain whilst standing in my socks in the clarts and I'm not too impressed by the effect the salt on the roads is having on my already scruffy Sherco. I don't want a van and after the fun parking at Rookhope a couple of weeks ago 4WD would be nice. So, is it possible to fit a trials bike into the back of any of the lwb 4wd vehicles currently available in the UK? I'm thinking Landrover 110, LWB Trooper, or even the commercial version of the Discovery

Dear users of the internet... it's your lucky day! I've decided a quorum of people I've never met should pick my next bike, since I can't quite make up my mind (note: insert internet sarcasm here) What'll it be: a Factory EVO 250 or a TRS (displacement unknown)? Pros Beta: lots of bling, proven package, I've had one before and they go forever, pretty easy to work on, familiar and italiano! come io! TRS: new(!), no paint (it all gets rubbed off anyway, so why bother), looks even easier to work on in terms of access. Cons Beta - clutch issues (clutch fix) TRS - unproven

OK, just for laughs and not wishing to offend anyone who has REALLY hurt themselves, but let's share some daft trials injuries/ accidents. Many years ago I fell over at a standstill trying to push my bike out of a very muddy section after I had fived. I managed to land on the section marker and cracked a rib. This weekend after washing my bike following a trial, I was too lazy to push it into my garage via the side door. Me, being Dougie Lampkin, decided to ride it in. I can attest to Rev3 bars being wider than my garage door. I can also tell you that the brake lever leaves a lovely white indent in your right middle finger. It didn't hurt at the time as my hands were c…
