Hi all, A couple of years ago I bought a 1985 Montesa Cota 330 as a non runner. I planned to get it going and sell on for a bit of profit. Having got the beast running I couldn't bring myself to part with it. I have now decided to do a little more work and use the bike. Does anyone have any details as to what mods I should consider to make it more competetive and reliable? Riding it around the drive the footpegs seem so high and the handlebars so low. Is this common with bikes of this age? - I am considering lowering the pegs but even the ground clearance seems too high compared to modern stuff. I am missing a few parts. I've just spent most of today repairing and tidying what appears to be an early Ty250 Yam based Majesty frame.Stripped threads,missing captive nuts and sawn off rear frame loop.All sorted now,but while I was doing it I noticed quite a difference in the quality of the work on the parts that are modded from the original layout.The welds and brackets for the rear shocks are nicely made and well done for example,but the join at the rear of the toolbox under the top tube is a bit "Orrible".I'm doing it for a mate and I've never really taken much notice of the frames before,(Only the new ones at Telford etc)it got me wondering if its a proper Shirt modified one or a copy. I just won the E Bay auction for a former Donato Miglio works Garelli Trial 320. I am very excited to get my hands on this rare and interesting bike. I wonder if there's anyone out there who knows anything about them or has one? I searched the web and found a guy in CZ who is looking for kickstarter parts. I am certain the kicker mechanism is a weakness of this machine. I will be trying to resolve this problem enough to at least ride the old girl a little bit. Heres a picture of the beast. what combination of parts do you think would make the perfect twinshock? eg fantic 240 frame, ty 250 motor, beamish forks, ossa back end, obviously leaving real world parts compatability out of it. just for fun what do you think

I'm working on getting mine back together after having it in pieces for several years. I did a search and it looks like there are a few other KT250 owners (at least one with a Gollner frame) here, but some of those posts were pretty old. http://www.eurospares.com/kt250.htm is a page on my website with information on my bike. I've read many times that Fantic 240 Pro is the best twinshock bike ever. Do you agree or...? Best features, weaknesses?

Hi all,, I want to clear something up about twinshock trials bikes,,, I ride several different twinshocks, But the one i use in modern trials took me months to build and yes it has disc brakes, hydraulic clutch and a tubeless rear wheel, but at the end of the day is a twinshock.. and is a lot heavier than a modern bike, My point is when motorbikes were first used in trials they were just modded road bikes that people were trying to make as competetive as possible, So a lot of people get a lot of enjoyment from taking an old bike to the next level, and pushing the boundries of their bikes, But those of you who ride standard machines are constantly up in arms…

I am rebuilding a ty250a.I have only been riding trials since spring of 2018 but figured I would share my rebuild for all to injoy (or laugh at).I ride a 2015 GG txt pro but like vintage bikes.The ty250 was my 1st motorcycle I had in 1976 when my father purchased it for me.The deal was I would work in woods taking down tree's to pay him back.I had no idea it was a trials bike but rode the hell out of it.

Howdy folks.Any one here be intrested in competeing in a premiere twinshock road trial some time in the autunm next year. The idea being that there is no big meeting for twinshock riders in the calender only the ACU classic series,the pre65 boys have the scotish,manx and bonanza, so we in the herefordshire classic trials club want to put on an event for the twinshock brigade. Useing terrain in the same part of the county as an old national trial was once held. No dates at the mo as we dont want to clash with the ACU classic series. Anyone intersted? Cheers.

Aftermarket footpeg location brackets and do it yourself footpeg relocating certainly is popular on vintage bikes currently used in competition. In general, how or what criteria determines the best footpeg front to rear location? Is the lowest possible position that kerps the fert safe best? While researching this, one company mentioned that going rearward with footpeg mounts is not always a benefit, it can reduce weight on the front tire and creates steering issues. Being specific, we will be modifying the setup on my riding buddies 72 OSSA MAR. The internet has many photos of these machines with footpegs anywhere from stock to 50mm x 50mm down. …

Hi, just bought a Malcolm Rathmell replica from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 and was wondering what , if any , is different on the bike from a std 348 ? also what year was it made ? frame number is 51m 7995 with matching engine numbers. It rides superbly thou it may have a worn main bearing but for the price its a great toy Thanks Dave

See there's another "Majesty" on ebay. ref 190455109718 Now i am not the authority on Majestys but it looks just a std TY with a Majesty tank and repositioned shock top mounts to me. Plus would be a problem where to ride it as not eligable for ACU events due to the front disc. So Majesty officionados is it a Majesty or just Mutton dressed as Lamb

I know that because of my vast lack of knowledge I might get beat up on this one.It seems to me that the best and most reliable twin shock to grow old with would be a finely modded TY175 bored to a 200.It has to be one of the cheapest to keep up to snuff and easiest to handle as age creeps in to the bones. The weather is rotten here,I,m waiting on parts and bored so I thought I,d try to stir up a topic.

Hi All New to this site and to trials so Hi to all, anyhow my mate is doing up a Fantic but me being me I've gone and bought a 242 to restore and making a few calls have found out that this bike may be hard to find parts. Hi One question, i know this might sound a bit daft, but what actually constitutes a "twinshock" ? Let me explain. Just look at the Cotswold Majesty for example or choose your own. Here is a bike which undeniably is a "twinshock" (it has two rear shock absorbers) but it was made this century. So are twinshocks anything with two rear shocks? Do they have to be manufacturered before a certain date? Must they be aircooled? When we say manufactured which bits do we actually mean? After all there are many aftermarket frame kits around. Some replicas of the originals, some of works frames, some just very light and tidy. You see where i am going with this is why couldnt…
