hi all, in a similar vein to 'show us your gas gas' I thought that it might be good to have a 'what did you do to your gas gas' section. I freely admit that i have taken this from the uk ktm forum! it seems to be a useful thread and has been in existence for several years with many hundreds of postings. On the ktm forum it is a useful exchange of ideas and I hope that it could be the same on this forum. so, I will start: 2005 txt pro today I cleaned up my brake calipers etc and whilst the wheels were out, I picked off the wheel bearing covers and repacked the bearings with outboard motor grease. I also made some (hopefully bomb proof) bar ends with - from the outsi…

It's been reported in Spanish Papers that the creditors of Gas Gas are on the warpath regarding the companyy's level of debt again. They have survived before but it will have to be seen how this works out. Especially as Ossa share the Production facility.

so the latest rumour doing the rounds is the new owners of Gas Gas will be announced on the 16th of October, I hope this is the case and not just a silly rumour it would be great to see Gas Gas producing in my opinion the best trials bike on the market again,

Hey guys, figured I would make a little progress/build thread so you can follow the build if you wish. The background of the bike - I got the bike when I was around 14-15 (I'm now 22) I used the bike for around a year religiously every Saturday down Corton Trials Centre. I can't remember why but after one Saturday I drained all fuel etc and put it away as I wasn't going to use it for a while.. 7ish years later I have just dug it back out! She hasn't held up to good, frames full of surface corrosion, lots of niggly problems I'm battling which I will list as I go along This was her.. Straight from the garden to my trailer. First time rolling in 7 years! Got her home …

Okay, first thing is that I'm not new to 2 stroke motorcycles. I'm 59 years old and have been around 2 stroke dirt bikes since 1973 was my first mini bike. I've owned several bikes over the years. KX 250 CR 250 CR 500 YZ 250 and a Montesa 250 trials bike. So the bike was delivered 2 months ago and pushed into my garage. I haven't had a chance to ride it because of recovering from surgery. Finally the time comes to fire it up and take a first ride. Absolutely not! I can't get this bike to start no way no how. I tried for 2 days until I was too sore to continue. I changed the gas in the tank and drained the carburetor because I didn't know what they put in it for dealer pre…

Anyone with a recent (2012+) GG care to comment on their experiences with reliability (or lack thereof)? I'm coming off a Beta that I put a million hours on and, aside from things I broke, it never went wrong. I'm inclined to just get another Beta since I'd rather ride than wrench, but something new/different sounds fun.

I recently picked up a used 2011 Raga 300 and am using it to build/clear mountain bike trails and I need to slow it down and smooth it out as much as I can. I've dropped the front tooth to a 10 and installed a slow throttle tube which helps but now I want to smooth it out and make it more "chugable" if that's a word. I'm thinking of adding a S3 flywheel weight as that is easy to get in the states. Is the S3 brand a good one or is there a better one? Also, I'm considering lowering the compression with a new insert. The current insert has a "30T" stamped by the spark plug. Does anyone know which head insert it has in it? If I do the new insert, what carb changes will…

Has GasGas ownership just become the least value for money in the market. All the talk now is how people aren't spending the way they once were, Brexit affecting bike sales, stability of the pound etc etc and add into the mix a six month old racing only worth approximately half its new price because the importer has flooded the market with unsold stock ; but still wanting you to pay £6399 for this years upgrade. How does that work other than the obvious fact that buying GasGas is now £1000 dearer than other brands. So just when loyal customers wish to upgrade due to new model release they have to suck up the deficit, sounds fair enough in the ruthless world of moder…

Hi everyone. This is my 1st post here and I'm new to the trials world so hello. I have been riding MX and enduro for a good few years an now fancy a go at trials, hopefully it will be a little more relaxed and friendly scene, certainly than MX is. Anyway I have just bought this little darling for the princely sum of 370 great british pounds. Little rough around the edges but it's all there to get me started hopefully. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=160810939073 My question is, it's says in the add it's 175cc Gas Gas contact, I have tried to do a little research into this model but can't find much info? Are these bikes any good? Any common faults or th…

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to purchase a year old bike that is a 2020 model, previously I had a 2011 bike that was a 250 txt. I’m relatively new to trials but been around bikes some 40 years, so used to kicking over bigger cc bikes, I also own a 600 single British bike that needs a damn good committed kick. My friend has a 2015 280 txt that I can start ok 1st or 2nd kick, I guess you can tell where this is going, I’ve had the carb completely apart for a good clean checked the needle setting and jets, now all nice and clean and correct size and settings for a 300 Tried different plugs, alas it’s a proper b**ch to start, I’m 6ft tall so not short in the leg, I engage…

I am looking at getting my first trials and plan to go and look at a GasGas 280txt and 270txt over the weekend. The latter has been rebuilt and is a 1999 example which seems very straight. The former is a 2002 model and again seems very clean. Similar money, so is there really a better option of the two or would the forum consider them much of a muchness. Thanks

Hi people new to the trials world had a bike a few mnths now been on a two times since owned.only short rides. What I've noticed is when pushing the bike or no weight on the bike the chain rattles on the frame underneith the front sprocket. Is this normal? Setting the chain I have the bike raised off the floor swing arm at lowest.both nuts on rear wheel undone.turn the adjusters so marks are same both side and have the tensioner about a thumbs space away from swing arm.lower the bike down push it and the chain rattles
